Your mill looks like our old mill, except we had two people on the carriage to set blocks and dog the logs. Eric S. Duck

Nice sawmill and I definitely wouldn't go for a bandsawmill that costs 2-3 times as a good used circular sawmill. Even rebuilding a circular sawmill is cheaper than a new bandsawmill. Plus you can out produce a bandsawmill plenty and the sawdust is easier to sale.

I disagree.start on the receiving end.grab the 4x6's,6x8's that are ten-twelve feet in length,go home, cut grass, weed the garden, feed the livestock.by then, you'd be in bed at 7 p.m. I grew up around all this.3 jobs then, factory worker, farming or logging/sawmilling.myself along with my cousins totted many a azz whipping if we said, naw,we ain't doing that.didn't matter who was around, you was getting slapped or a switch.i respect my dad for doing this line of work, the backbone to work(ethics) and enjoy what the rewards were.

dmith smith Red&white oak cut very easy, just like basswood. Basswood is a little more fuzzy (sawdust) when you cut it.

That's a thick blade to be making that many 1" boards individually. Wouldn't you be miles ahead to cant with the big saw and then run it through a thin kurfed edger for the boards. Way less waste that way and more boards. Just my .02
