I'm really glad I watched this. I think my biggest problem is trying to replicate my favorite singers.

Same. When I'm with close friends I'm able to talk louder and my voice is often low(so low that sometimes I do a vocal fry :"| ), but when I'm talking to just random people, it's softer and I strain to go low and loud. But, I sing Alto AND Mezzo Soprano comfortably, soo...

Ah choir.. I was in choir last year and I was put into Soprano(which I can sing), but I can also sing Alto, but the teacher seemed so desperate for more Sopranos, but all I wanted to do was hop around and see where I was comfortable and what I could do.

it is tough to explain the natural voice thing. but trust me! maybe the way you talk ISN'T your natural voice. maybe you talk more nasally or you push your tone too much or you stay very quiet and almost whisper. i would suggest a GOOD vocal teacher. i wished i could recommend you someone, but i only know my own, and i doubt you are able to go to her :( honestly, find a good teacher. someone who will help you find your true voice, no style or anything. my teacher is an opera singer, but she sings with her natural voice. i sing pop/ballad songs and she teaches me to sing naturally. you can sing ANY genre with this technique! search for someone like that. trust me, you CAN.

my voice depends on my emotions :/
@squidneythesquid2487
4 жыл бұрын
Singing, especially in theatre _should_ be affected by emotions too, obviously not to a point where no one can understand or hear, but I would never cry in something like Les Miserables, for example, if they were just perfect unemotional notes, you shouldn’t have to be able to speak the language to understand the emotions behind a song. Like in a lot of opera, I can feel the emotions and passion behind the voices, but I can’t speak Italian.
I have such a hard time learning how to sing. Because I am bilingual. I don't know what's my natural voice

Nyx Glame tongue is in your throat. Try sticking your tongue out of your mouth and singing for a while. Then try to sing with your tongue back in your mouth. And be conscience of if your tongue tries to creep back or stays behind your teeth. Also stop trying to sing low. Your probably trying to sound deeper than you are.

That's beautiful and interesting and I would like to have on line training is it possible cause I like singing hence i don't know my nutural voice
Thanks for this. My choir director said I have a beautiful natural voice and I honestly didn't know what that means. About 1/4 of the choir is classically trained so I often feel I should push myself to sound like them. Your video has helped to relieve those fears.
I very accomplished professional singer was asked what was most important in learning to sing. She said, to sing, first you need to learn how to speak. I took her to mean that the singing voice is a natural extension of the speaking voice. You seem to be saying much the same thing. But perhaps she also meant that we may have to overcome faults in our speaking voice, breathing, posture etc. before we could use our speaking voice as the foundation of our singing voice. I thought it was a profoundly important thing to say, but never got to hear the whole story. Thank you Freya for all your lessons. I find them very helpful.
Omg once she started screaming and talking louder I lost it 😂😂😂😂 couldn't take her seriously
This video is gold .. THANK YOU!

FREYA THIS VIDEO REALLY HELPED ME FIND MY VOICE!!!! I AM SO THANKFUL I COULD FIND YOU ONLINE! YOU ARE A GREAT TEACHER!❤️💙❤️💙❤️ THANK YOUU!!❤️❤️
thanks a lot this has been really helpful
I guess that's exactly why the songs I've been writing are in the range my speaking voice is, it just feels natural.
This was actually very helpful, great video thank you...
Superrrr correct all the details... Thanks alot....
I have never taken signing training. I used to perform in High school and I was approached to record sings with 2 writers and my own teachers but they always told me to learn to read music and to perfect my voice. That was 20 years ago or more. I still sing at home but just recently have had the desire to perform again. I want to thank you for what you do. I will be following your channel. I never knew what my natural voice was since I would imitate the artists and at times it was hard but I would practice hard to get to their voice but now I will use my own. Thank you!
I just discovered you and I'm already enjoying so much your videos. Thank you very much for sharing

Even after 4 years your video is still making big impact in people’s lives, including me, thank you and may God bless you.🙏🏽
I need a lot of work but after your tips, I believe I have found my natural voice. Thank u Freya!
I love this, it really feels right. My biggest issue is finding any song I can sing to the end in this way, as most songs go higher than my natural "break". Have been trying to figure this out for years... Thank you, I will go through your videos again. (I found you and watched them all a couple of years ago, and got busy with life, and here I am again!)
Thank you for this, I really needed help. I’m really nervous making my channel, so thank you. :D

I really love you Freya!! Your videos have been recently helping build my confidence singing in front of others.
I have been trying to find my voice for years. Thank you so much for your advice. I was told i was told I was Soprano but it hurts my throat all the time, and I know how to control my air flow, from trombone playing. Now i know why I was always straining to sing those notes.
Great....great.....super....job. beautiful and very useful for new comers.
GREAT VIDEO!
Love all your video, youre explaination is so clear and easy for me to understand, also, I can sing better right now, Thank You.
I love this video. I have realized I have been trying to hard and that relaxing my voice towards a more natural tone has helped bring out a beautiful sound. Thank you for this wonderful tip.
When you said hope you enjoy your voice, your voice is unique and special it makes me inspired thank you 😇...

Thanks
Thank you so much for making this video! My voice is softer and I used to get frustrated that I didn't sound like other people. This is very encouraging!
Speaking of natural voice - you are definitely a 'natural' at what you do!!!!😊👍 I'm am amateur singer and am getting a lot out of your channel.🙏😊
I really love your vocal teaching i hope i may able to sing the phantom of the Opera
I've actually been having huge issues with how I feel about my natural voice. My natural voice isn't the style I like, and it kills me. I keep trying to alter it, but my vocals start hurting. This at least helped me recognise the problem, and I'm really thankful for that. I know this video can be really helpful for a lot of people, I even know people that I think would get something out of watching it. Sadly, I still doubt I'll be able to appreciate my natural voice...
Thanks for the good advice. It confirms what I discovered recently, I do my best when I sing music in the range and tempo that is suited to my voice. I can sing some bass, but not super low and the same goes for high notes. It is best to sing in the range of our voice. I also do not have a vehicle and get around by bike, including hauling groceries home. My cardiovascular strength is great, and I can sing longer wihout strain and can hold notes as long as some professional singers. My tip is get in good cardiovascular and muscle condition to help improve your singing.
I gain a lot of knowledge about finding our own natural singing voice you are an expert to this..Thank you very much! God bless you!
You said Have a wonderful day... BUT THIS VIDEO IS WHAT HAS MADE MY DAY WONDERFUL...!!!
Also, it would really help to have your lessons NUMBERED, not so everyone will always go through them in order, but just so we will know when your are referring to "next Friday," etc. Great approach Freya, so sincere and authentic feeling though sometimes a little too much talking and repetition rathe than examples, exercises, something to DO other than listen. Just my idea, don't mean to be critical. Overall you are one of, if not THE best vocal coach I have encountered. Will probably subscribe but have already paid for another one, which is good too, so will come to you later.
thank you very much..I find you by chance ,but this was very great lesson. I sing im my chuch. never had singing lessons..go by my feellings. it is very fanny the way you teach. .God bless you!!
