Barcelona without Frenkie is terrible and sad to watch. Easily one of the best midfielders in the world. He's so versatile in defense and offense and he can play both in a single game. There's a reason he was winning multiple and back to back man of the match awards early on in the season. Can't wait for him to come back. Great video, just subbed. 👏

Frenkie shined his whole barca career tho even when the team was struggling he gave a 9/10 performance like every game.. and now that he is injured we have seen how impactful he is in the team

I think Frenkie is criminally underrated, he never loses the ball, his progressive passing and dribbling is phenomenal, he can shoot from range, arrive late in the box or dictate the pace of a game.

He’s the maestro of our midfield and Without him our midfield is clueless and lost and whin you know that Barca’s strength is in their midfield you realise he’s the most important player in the club. Period

This de Jong is an absolute gem. By far the best we have in the Netherlands, what a beast. Not arrogant, great personality and very loyal. Hope he stays at Barca forever. Go Frenkie!!

These were exactly my thoughts. I live in Barca and when I saw Frenkie getting injured 1 week before 2nd leg against Napoli I went crazy, didn't even want to go to the match anymore. However, thanks to Xavi and the team, we won 3 - 1, without Frenkie, surprisingly! However it's funny when you realise that Xavi changed the tactics so that the ball doesn't stay that much in the midfield because he knew we were lacking talent there. Kudos to you mate! I've always been a massive FdJ stand and have constantly defended him since his arrival. Barca is heavily dependent on him for his MF versatility and vertically with and without the ball. We could survive and eke out Ws missing one of FdJ or Pedri.... not both! Once he returns, I'm hoping Xavi uses Gavi next to him to form the hybrid double pivot with Gundo given more freedom to probe and attack the box instead of being deeper trying to organize, recycle possession, and set tempo.... with Pedri in a free role starting from wide right.

He’s one of the best MF we have he’s been holding down the fort for us yes we’re going through a crisis but he’s always someone i trust in no matter what. i love watching him play and i would absolutely hate to let him go hope he stay’s but if he ever has to go because of barca i’ll always love him no matter where he goes!

It’s crazy how under appreciated he is in Barcelona. Players generally who end up playing in Spain go under the radar. No focus or real spotlight given when they perform really well. Just another player in Barcelona. If he was playing at an Arsenal, Liverpool, city or any top English club he probably would be a legend by now. Good point, he was already 17 and playing at the highest level for his club Willem II. He was regarded one of the greatest talents in the Netherlands tho, played for all the national youthteams. Around his 18th he went to Ajax and played basically 2 years in the second team (where he showed crazy stuff btw, the whole Netherlands and media was asking for him to play the whole time). But what you say is true. Its his own skills and understandig what made him special.

Adding to that, the Willem II club manager put Frenkie on the bench most of the time, because he wanted a player with more physical strength. He didn’t believe a technical player would do well in a lower tier league. Ajax bought Frenkie for almost nothing (although if he was sold they would get a large percentage).

@@Klont123 that was actually due to Frenkie was just 17-years old and Willem II play in the Eredivisie, the highest level in the Netherlands. They often fight relegation, so a 17 year old dribbling lightweight like young Frenkie didnt really fit their play. The coach let him play from rightwing because he was too much of a lightweigt for cdm position at a relegation team. But Ajax didnt pay nothing, they loaned 4 first team players to Willem II which they could use very well at that time. And Willem II has a clause which would give them a percentage of the transferfee if Ajax sold him again. This earned them 12 million when Frenkie left to Barca. So 12 million and 4 loanplayers, it was a good deal for Willem II.

@@Klont123 I actually know this guy from my town very well who played in the second team of Willem II and was captain. He was the captain of Frenkie de Jong. Within 4 years from that season, Frenkie played with Messi at barca and the guy I know plays at amateur level. Crazy how football goes.

Idk I’ve always seen him as our best midfielder since he came,his miles ahead of Pedri and gavi he just doesn’t get the love cuz his not Spanish the only player who got love over Spanish talents at barca was Messi

I think that it's amazing that he still plays at Barcelona. Even though Barca might be a in a bad place right now, he knows where he wants to play. Like a true Dutch footballer, he wants to play at Barcelona. Every kid's dream is to play there! More footballers should be like this, not follow the money and transfer to Chelsea, man city or psg and be loaned out for the rest of their lives! Take time to develop yourself at a smaller club (Willem II for Frenkie), play a lot of games! Then don't take the big leap, because despite the money you'll be making you won't be getting match experience! Instead, go to a club known for great talent development like Ajax or psv or Feyenoord, and then once you're ready, you can join the big leagues.

Its simple, Frenkie has always been a barca fan, watched almost every game of the Guardiola era as a kid. He even visited the city and the stadium multiple times as a kid. Before he came to barca, both man city and psg offered him a lot more money. But he chose his boyhood club and refuses to leave and has said multiple times he want to play all his career in barca. This guy has always been a culer, believe me. His fathers favourite player and club? Johan Cruyff and barca. You even see similarities in their play. It is and has always been Barca for Frenkie

I am impressed with the way Frenkie De Jong has transformed his career at Barcelona in the last 12 months. He had a couple of very good seasons at the club, but due to their financial problems in the summer of 2022, they were desperate in trying to get rid of him with all of the issues surrounding his contract and he ended up staying thank god he avoided Manchester United as in recent months he has been playing the best football of his career at Barcelona and now Xavi sees him as indispensable to the team and they could possibly renew his contract. I've said it many times, Frenkie De Jong is one of the best midfielders in the world and he's genuinely irreplaceable and we've seen Barcelona's dip in form in recent weeks and they have missed his presence in the midfield. He's an underrated player, but what he does in the midfield is extraordinary as he collects the ball from deep plays those brilliant short and long passes, has excellent dribbling controls the pace and tempo of the game, and he's not a natural defensive midfielder, he excels as a box to box midfielder with the way he wins possession incredible work rate and does the dirty work. He is the perfect modern day midfielder and following a run of inconsistent performances, it's a boost that he'll be back for Barcelona after the international break. Injuries have been the biggest problem in the Barcelona team this season yet I don't hear anybody talking about how badly Barcelona missed Frenkie De Jong and I wouldn't be surprised if we seen an upturn in form within this team. The season is very long anything can happen and we'll see a better version of this team, but seeing the struggles Barcelona had when Frenkie De Jong was out of the team with an injury, it's just a great example on why it's important for people/fans to watch the games a little more and pay closer attention to details instead of looking at just the stats sheet since football isn't just about goals and assists, you have to also appreciate players who elevate the team, do the dirty work and impact the game in so many ways. Just imagine if Barcelona sold him and he is their X factor and the player who silently makes the team tick.
