Persian and French are both Indo-European languages. Iran and France throughout the history had close relationships. During Qajar period many Iranians traveled to Europe and many Iranians learned French as of their second language. That's why Persian language has a some French influence too.

"Cravatte" in French comes from the word "Croate" (people living in Croatia). Croatian knights used to wear a special scarf, which became the tie.

If you want to compare 3 language's farsi , Turkish , Kurdish to each other You should build a series because it's never gonna stop

Gilaki is even more similar to French, especially in grammar, and words like mer/mère (mother) per/père (father) etc

I took five years of french in high school and I’m persian so it was very interesting seeing this since I speak both languages

We have a lot of French words in Turkish as well. Manto is the female coat while Palto is the male coat :)

Musa Umut Akdeniz Dogan In Russian we also have Palto for coat But Manto is only used in certain russian dialects Usually people just say Palto for both male nd female coats

It's Canadian French. They are also native French speakers. Just as native English speakers from Australia and Canada will have very different accents.

We have many common words between French and Arabic in specific countries (Syria, Lebanon, Tunisia, Algeria, Marocco). I’m Syrian myself and I understood most of the words. These are borrowed words from French. Langauges are fun! Good video Bahador, and miss you Shehrzad! ❤️😍

Some of those words are used in greek, too. It would be interesting if you made a video about greek and french. For many decades, till the '60's or '70's, french was a prestige foreign language, until english became more prominent, so a handful of french words were inserted in our vocabulary, mainly about clothing and car parts. There are of course greek equivalents for them, too. For example, any greek would understand what a pare-brise is [windshield], but not many would know the greek word for it

The first word (كاناپه) is used by Arabs informally in many Arab countires, at least in the Gulf ones. We say and write it: كنب, with shortened vowel and normal B sound 'coz we don't have P sound in Arabic.

Cultured people at some point very often learnt French, in Russia (read War and Peace), Germany (King Frederick II wrote in French and lived at Sans-souci), the United Kingdom (Dieu et mon droit), , Italy, Turkey, Romania, Lebanon, etc Would you like to tell us why you think it wasn't and give some arguments?

Watching old videos again is so much fun. So much passion and good laughs even at that early stage. Also, I love it that in Iran there are still such epic names for women, like Shahrzad. I've even seen Parysatis being still used -even though I wasn't sure whether it was a proper name or more like a nikname in this day and age. It would be like finding a Greek guy called "Agamemnon".

It is interesting to see a link between Farsi and French, it shows the affect if the east on the west. Beautiful!

In French many letters are silent. So when outsiders read it they also pronounce the silent letter with it and over the period it becomes part of the vocabulary.

Interesting fact at 4:00, in Javanese (Indonesian local language), we say "jambon" for "pink". I think early Javanese people thought when some europeans (especially Spanish & Dutch) ate the ham, they (the Javenese people) thought the Europeans said "jambon" to refer about the colour of the ham, which is pink, not the word for ham itself.

They are all French loan words, mostly introduced to Farsi during Qajar and early Pahlavi era. There are a lot more of these such as zapaz(extra) & switch (car key) etc

when I listened to the lady who speaks French, it seems like she isn't French I guess she's Canadian from Quebec means Québecoise, well the canadian French is the old French ... mixed with some English words and I like hearing people speaking québecois

She is quick in learning new language

You should lookup "false friend words" of the language pair ahead of time and sneak those in. It would make it more interesting.

Bahador Alast! Wow ! I have seen so many of your videos Persian vs French/ German/ Spanish/ Turkish/ Urdu/Hindi/ Albanian/ Arabic... But I have never came across Persian vs English. Yeah, I know English is the medium of communication in all your videos. But still, I want to know what are the common words in Persian and English. My request! Please put up *Persian vs English* and the medium of communication can be some other language and please put up English subtitles.

interesting videos. I think we can talk about similarities between languages if those languages are in the same family (English, German, Italic, Persian etc. or Arabic and Hebrew). Similarities between Persian, Turkish and Hebrew do not make sense although there are some shared/borrowed words between them

How do you say "shirt" in Arabic? What does the word "khamis" mean in Arabic? In French "chemise" is shirt. How about in Arabic? For sure there are some French words used in Arabic too, since countries like Egypt, Syria, Lebanon (plus Algeria, Tunisia, Marocco) were once under French rule.

(0:58) 'camion' is 'caminhão' in portuguese. (2:14) 'chance' also exist in portuguese with the same spelling and meaning. (2:44) 'Manteau' is 'manto' in portuguese, but usually connected to religious people wearing it. (3:38) 'Geste' is 'gesto' in portuguese. (4:50) 'Séchoir' loosely resembles 'secador' (pt). (7:08) 'Bronzer' could be 'bronzear' ou 'bronzeado' (pt). (8:25) 'Cravate' is 'gravata' (pt)

I genuinely like the persian culture although I don't know a lot about it yet I find it very interesting, I find Farsi interesting too, I love the way it sounds so yes of course when I saw it was with French I was like "Yesss" Also that's a very cool thing that they are canadians because I think that they aren't highlightened enough :) But I think that their accent is more like american now, they didn"t have the canadian accent that you find in Québec (which is very typical and particular and they don't have it) and they also didn't get some persian words right away cause it didn't sound obvious to their ears although it did to mine ! I directly understood every single word ahah :D That's interesting to see at the same time the differences of understandindg between canadians and french people ( I guess it's because we don't sound the same so we don't hear the same neither, don't know if that makes sense) :) Oops sorry I have just re heard a sentence that she said (With Classeur) and she is indeed from Québec and it was very clear, bebakhshid 😅 It's just that they sounded more American with the other sentences, my bad 🙏

Louise ! That's wonderful!! I think you'll really enjoy some of our upcoming videos, both the Persian ones, as well as the French ones. As I said, I will have other French speakers in our future videos. I totally understand. After all, Mike and Jackie have lived in Ontario for a while and are speaking English more than French now, even if they were born in Quebec. This will obviously have an impact on their accent. Even though I want my videos to be educational, my main goal is to have them be entertaining and bring cultures closer together, and course, there will always be something to point out regarding the choice of words, accents, etc. At the end of the day, it's meant to be fun :) Thank you again!

Dan Heather You're absolutely right. I pick words that common, sometimes they are cognates, sometimes they are loan words, and at times they might be words which aren't used as frequently as another, but all the words are, in one way or another, are picked to be understandable for the other participants.
