French twist tutorial updo for long, thick hair
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This is how you do a very elegant french twist on hair that is long, thick, straight and/or heavy and normally wants to fall down when it is put into an updo. Perfect for proms or weddings!
Tools needed: round brush, teasing brush, curling iron (3/4" to 1" barrel), 10-15 bobby pins, hair tie, hairspray, and a hair product like mousse, gel or paste. Optional: big flower pin or other accessory, water spray bottle.
I would describe this style as medium to hard difficulty, make sure you do a trial run before your formal event!

"Then spray the hell out of it." I appreciate your bluntness. There's something so brilliantly comic in your delivery, too.
I love how polished and retro this looks. My french twists always look so flat towards the crown, now I see the remedy.
I wore French twist for years, putting it up by twisting it like to you do. but the top piece swirled around is what was missing. it really adds an extra je ne sais quoi, no? I love it. Thank you!

ruth johnston totally!
this is the best French twist ive seen
This was SO HELPFUL! and to all those people saying that this isn't thick... It looks a lot less thick than it is. People don't think I have thick hair until they touch it and feel the WEIGHT. Thin strands but I have A Lot of them.
Those bangs are kind of awesome and tie into the style perfectly. Thank you for doing a style for thick hair! I watch some of the hairstyle tutorials and they are doing the opposite and adding bulk to their hair whereas I'm lucky is there's enough bobby pins on the planet to hold my hair in an updo.
Definitely, the most elegant and beautiful french twist I have seen. Thank you!!!
I was struggling the other day with a french twist on a woman with impressively thick hair. never thought to use a ponytail! thanks so much!
Clear, concise instructions, deadpan delivery and gorgeous hair..I've found my hair tutorial holy grail!
So happy to find this video. I have a new client that can’t lift her arm and wants me to fix her hair once a week. This looks like just what she was asking for.
wow that really looks nice. The little curled part at the top just makes it even more gorgeous
This looks incredible- Thank you for catering to thick heavy hair, I can't wait to try it!
you can't understand how this video has helped me yesterday! I was invited to an Halloween party and with this hairstyle I impressed all the people 😃 thanks

Good for you.
I’ve never done an updo in my life and all the other videos I saw looked impossible. Happy to report my updo looks amazing right now! This worked! Thank you!!
Looks great. Love the way you blend the top and lower twist
OMG THIS IS PERFECT! I definitely have very thick hair, & a lot of it too, & this is so incredibly perfect! It's exactly what I was looking for!
This is my favorite updo, and you did a fabulous job with your hair, a very pretty french twist!
This just made my day. I've got a big presentation coming up in a couple days and had no idea how to do my hair... Now I know.
That is absolutely STUNNING!
Best twist tutorial ever, thanks for posting!!
It looks SO good..
STUNNING
Always looks so much easier in the video. You did a good job
Gosh you're so good at this.

how freaking adorable. ma'am, you and your hair are so cute.
I love this hair style!!! Great job.
AH I actually feel like I have a chance of achieving the look with this tutorial! I always have way too much hair for French twists! Thank you!
Omg you made this sooooo less complicated! THANK YOU!
My hair is long and thick and CURLEY! I was able to finally do this updo with some slight modifications. The ponytail is a big help! Thanks! You're gorgeous and have beautiful hair!
Thankyou this is a very desired hairstyle I now have a formal hairstyle for any function I want to attend.
Thanks for taking the time to make this!
Loved this way of doing a french twist. It looks gorgeous on you. I have thin, fine hair but I think it will still work. thank you.
Beautiful style
I was speechless until I heard "Spray the hell out of it." then I died. Lool. Very impressive.
You make it look so easy ! Loved the tutorial 3 thanku!
i like it ,your tutorial was way more easier to understand and the outcome is amazing! i literally think the twirl of your final hair-do is super nice and you won't need a flower nor accessory to cover it :D
looks really good!
This was sooo helpful, I have seen many french twists on you-tube but most of the woman who offer a tutorial on that subject have light or thin hair. So I'm hoping to improve my up do hair style with this video. :)
I admit I don’t comprehend how the do comes together from this video, but I like that it achieves the Vertigo style coil
Wow that looks really good!
I have very long, very thick hair, and this worked fabulously. It only took me a couple of tries to get it right, & it looks amazing. The hair tie trick is so helpful! I'm going as Adele for Halloween and wanted a nice beehive in the front. This is perfect & will last all night, I'm sure! THANK YOU.
cant wait to try this!
U look amazing with the french twist!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! my hair is long & heavy, you explained it so easy and quite simple not like other tutorials that take so long and bore me...
Thank you!! I've been trying to find how to do the top curl for a LONG time!!😘
Hi Lianne, I really liked how you made this into a very professional sleek looking French twist. So many of the ones that I see are sloppy and messy which really seems to take away from the chic look that a FT is supposed to be. It would be nice to see this on different lengths of hair as well - how one can improvise for the same look. It's simply beautiful!
very impressed with your''spray the hell out of it''..new subbie xx
This is beautiful!!!💖
I'm going to try this one day! Thanks.
Thanks Lianne for posting, I am currently in hair school...please post anymore hair tutorials...you have a simply.way of explaining how to.do :) great step by step
this is a different technique than I usually see, so this one might actually work on my hair! thanks!
Nice. Very pretty. You make it look so simple.
This is really help, thanks a lot for makin this tutorial ce
Genius! Ive tried this unsuccessfully w long hair for ages!
Beautiful and simple! And I love your tattoo
Enjoyed to watch all these hair styles 👌
this looks really really fabulous and so professional. my daughter has hair long enough to sit on and its fine as well as heavy. this looks as though it might work and stay up, nothing else does, so I'll give it a go. probably need a can of hairspray though.
For sure I'll try!! Thanks a lot
A big like for this video! Cant wait for more!

I m glad to see this hair style thank u very much
looks great - I will try it out even that I have very thin and very long hair (that makes everything so difficult) :-) thanks for this tutorial!
Im going to download this video and try on my own. Hopefully it works!
Lovely!!
amazing hairstyles..
Very to the point! xd love this
I'm gonna be honest, I would consider your hair medium length. It's not that I'm saying it isn't long, but my hair goes down to my tail bone. It looks like your (beautiful) hair goes to your shoulder blades. I tried doing this and I had way too much excess and I did this multiple times with the hair tie and different lengths and when I tucked it all in and looked more like a big lump in my hair. I'm glad other people found this helpful though!

well, any hair stylist will tell u that with hair THIS long, u won't be able to do all the "common"/modern hair styles or updo's in general. u'd have to get rid of some length. namely, get approximately the length of the girl in the video. that's max. OR: u could embrace ur style and do all the other things all the other girls can't do: like GOT-style/middle ages braided masterpieces. you do you. but don't expect things to work when u dont have the right length. same goes for too short hair.

her hair is medium length. mine goes up to the waistline. I wanted to make a french twist/french cone hairstyle and i see this video will not be helpful for long hair. I would not say it's thick either. Mine is like a lion's mane in comparison.
Awesome I will try
hem hem hem i like this hair styles simple and elegant
Thanks for making it look easy. I'll keep trying till it looks like your French twist. It's easy if you know how is what I always say. Thanks for your time.
Thank you. So useful video. I have long( till waist), thick, straight hair. Finally I was able to braid French twist thanks to your video. Wish you could post some videos about how to braid hair.
Well done !
This looks so easy, but I know as soon as I try it, I'm going to get frustrated hahaha! Very well done, thank you (:

Nice hair style
love it, thanks.
I like the top part trick. Thanks.
