Hi! Thank you so much for sharing this, we are homing a 9 month old aggressive DDB aggression is towards humans in that he's quite snappy!

The French mastiff is a very friendly dog it is very good with members that they know we got ours in only when they were a few months old and they are the best dogs you can imagine they are great.guard dogs and they are still love bugs

Thank you. This dog belonged to a former client, but it's been years since I've been in contact with them. I'm not sure how she's doing today but I do think about her all the time. I have... Well, recently adopted one of those at age of 3, she's really noble, but can't control where she leads when we go outside so I need to hold very strong because she's VERY, very strong. I don't know if I can control that behavior at his age, she's not an aggressive dog and I love her.

wow, amazing I would like to do it with my little girl Lola , a Boxer , 7 months old. She used to be trained twice a week in a club, she makes some progress but not so far as your Bleu. Many thanks for your sharing

Apologies for the slow response. I worked on Mat Work before introducing toys into the training. The training mat had a lot of value due to previous training. I also think about the "antecedent arrangement" which is a fancy way of saying that I intentionally set up the environment in a way that makes the behavior more likely to occur. When teaching a dog to bring a toy back you can use a narrow corridor (like the patio in my video) or a hallway. training mat in a shady space on a hot day are good ways to make sure that the environment supports your training goals. I've also used hallways in the same way. Another example of antecedent arrangement is placing the training mat in the shade on a hot day. Hi Teresa! In what type of situations does your dog become snappy? Best advice for training is to start with simple obedience exercises that your dog will quickly pick up, and slowly/progressively build to more challenging situations. When used correctly, clickers are very useful at building focus and impulse control.

Very helpful vidio . But why the clicking noise ? and where could I get one please ? I have a nearly 4 month old pup purchases one week ago , and her previous owner has done an excellent job on her toilet training . I have 2 shih tzu who are slowly accepting her . What is the reward treat you use please .

Nathan Douglas Hey Nathan! Thanks for watching and commenting on my video. The clicking noise is called a clicker. It is used to mark the moment a dog offers desired behavior and predicts high value reinforcement . There should be a 1:1 ration, one click to one reward. My training plans revolve around calming exercises, so I prefer to use a soft clicker (one that makes a softer sound) like Karen Pryor's "iclick" that are more conducive to relaxation. For training food I use Happy Howie rolls (beef recipe recommended) or Red Barn rolls (beef recipe recommended). The Happy Howie rolls are great for dogs on a grain free diet, but the Red Barn rolls are easier to purchase online. Thanks again for commenting. - Alyssa Lapinel, CPDT-KA

My boyfriend and I (well I was on vacation when he got her) just got a 6month old female French Mastiff....she never had a name, collar, leash, fixed or potty trained. She is afraid of EVERYTHING. I leash her and she shuts down. I think I need help with this one! So hard to train! Any suggestions? Help please! I want her to be healthy and happy and trained. She is not happy with me right now. I believe in reward not force and she is just so bullheaded!! Plus...6MONTHS OLD WITH NOTHING TO GET HER STARTED!!!! I am so sad for her for that reason but I think she can be fine if she gets training!

Francine Werda Hi Francine! Thanks for watching and commenting. With fearful dogs it’s very important that you build trust from the bottom up. I would get her on a healthy feeding schedule and then begin using meals to establish a stronger connection. Some dogs are too afraid to take food from a persons hand in which case I would be placing the food in the ground or “rolling grounders” (basically finding a means of connecting during meal time). damian fan It's one hour in length (usually closer to an hour and a half if there is any history of aggression). We would discuss behavior patterns, day to day routine, and training goals. Within 48 hours of consult I would send you a write up outlining a training plan with recommendations for how to manage the behavior during the preliminary stages of training. Cost is 90 dollars.

i have my first dog and hes an american ban dog french mastiff crossed with american bulldog and hes just got cherry eye :(
