You can farm damage from a smokescreen in a French destroyer. Violently gun down the enemy destroyer and take his smokescreen. 🤣

Sweet underrated line imo. I love Kléber on my pc and recently switched to Xbox Legends for sure I’m going to grind this line again together with Fletcher for allrounder and Ostergotland for torp fun ❤

Having fun grinding Mogador, though her torpedo count is very small (4 on each side) untill it is upgraded to plus 2! Very good tips indeed. I still hope WG decides to provide a proper gunboat commander to do some DD hunting. If you kill who is potting you, there is no need for smokes...

It's Baguette time 🥖💦

French DDs is all I play pretty much 16000 games in. You nailed pretty much everything accurately. Good vid! I realize there are different loadouts and my best successes are in Philip A. Captain with Blue Foria and Sims. Every Cap. Is maxed. The speed is outrageously crazy. French get 20% speed boost as opposed to the typical 8%. Add the Need for Speed and you can count on another 10% getting close to ships within 7.5 Km. This makes for ambushing easier. Dds targeting you harder and all ships. Turret rotations on ships harder when u are flying by them at angles. It gives you outrunning torps an edge. And it allows you to cover more Km per game on the map by. A lot after 15 min. It allows you to get into the base seconds earlier for capture or defend. Or even get to ally ships and help. Speed is not just your friend… it’s your everything almost. Getting away and out of visual range escaping damage is also a benefit. I would disagree with just one thing. With an all out loadout.. you would be wise to scout at the beginning for intel DDs if they come into the base. Contest it, and scout it at least. I do a classic u turn and throw some blind torps at the start and end up coming back and sitting at the very edge of the base with my rear in. And I sit needle like ready to flat out tear off and escape and shoot if need with minimal risk of torps coming in straight on. Make them and draw those nasty ships in asap. It really helps. Don’t play perimeter like the Russians.. (who need to). I get lots of bases which ends up being huge xp and helpful to draw ships there. Eventually when your all out where’s off.. yes.. I play it like a Russian more. Perimeter with 6km detectability. Other than that… one thing.. I loved this vid. Dead on. And yeh… many different loadouts will dictate play style and strategy too.

I like the French DDs. The rework is nice. I think this buff/rework makes Violette the clear choice. But what makes this line ultra fun?.....its got to be the 'Go All Out' commander perk. That perk really opens the door to a lot of possibilities.. Double detectability for me thanks (Bey and Swirski) Going all in on HE damage is kinda fun (full French build).....not very good but still fun

Longtime pc player here. Yesterday, I decided to try WoWs Legends and started off with my favorite DD line, the IJN. I was thinking about trying the French line as I never did much in the pc version. Going to try it today after work.

Solid choice, they're a ton of fun. I think the line is best at Le Fantasque at Tier 7. I never had a ton of luck with Mogador personally (skill issue)

They seem pretty good now with 2 reload boosts its tough for any other dds to take them down and they still have fairly reliable torps

Le Fantasque is an absolute monster. One of the top T7 DDs! You'll love her

I love the French speedboats. The only downside is that the speed can get you into trouble, as it's very easy to over extend. Guns are good, torps are not to be sniffed at. Speed makes up for lack of smoke. Slower turret traverse combined with that speed affects it's ability to knife fight, particularly against US destroyers. However your speed means battleships often can't rotate turrets quickly to deal with you. Simple rule is Strike hard and fast. Double reload booster helps immensely.

Auboyneau gives you increased HE damage on his base skill, so that's a nice bonus to the "torpedo build"

You have exactly detailed how these ships need to be played - people need to understand the role they were designed for in the real french navy. These are not your typical destroyers, with smoke etc. Those are represented by ships like Aigle. These larger destroyers were designed to fulfill a role between typical small destroyers, and light cruisers. These, are fast scouts, intended to find and then SUPPORT the fleet in action, usually around the flanks. And if you play them like that, as seen here, they can shine. Rushing straight for caps etc, doesn't work. Move forward but with an eye on cover available, keep watching the twist n track indicator, mini map, where your team is etc. Don't be afraid to turn back towards your own support ships as they can help you if you get spotted. And speed, is the key.

Very enjoyable line to play!

French DD are great for hiding among the islands and then doing a high speed hit and run ambush. Shoot and scoot. However they’re a bit of a glass canon so don’t get caught out in the open trying to slug it out, as you’ll lose. Also be careful of sailing into a cruisers broadside, as at some tiers, a cruisers torpedo salvo will one shot you.

I actually got all the French DDs tiers 2-6 for free with the early access crates.... But I never bothered with grinding them as I always felt that trading your smoke screens for just 1 reload booster wasn't worth it.

It's a tough trade but once you get good with their speed you won't need the smokes anymore

I'm sold.

Got 7km kleber torps with the torp guy. But i dont nerf the reload on kleber.

It's largely considered one of the worst T7 DDs. Just word on the street, I quit playing the line at Gadja Mada. I think it's a good hybrid tho, can rock decent guns plus those ultra stealthy torpedoes

which DD line should i grind ?

I recently got polao emilo in a crate can u make a video on other builds for it like a reload build or range build for guns .I was curious of poalo was worth making a gun boat.i have all the commanders for dd gun reload and range maxed.jisy curious on ur thoughts if yolo is worth playing as a gun boat or only a torp build. I even have splendento maxed for dd turret traverse.

Hey Derka should I buy the mega Santa crates? I have 47k doubloons and don’t know what to do. I was planning to spend 9500 on the crates and than spend 17500 Wichita. Should I get Wichita or should I save up for the next campaign? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Well next campaign will really only cost you 2500 doubloons so always save some dubs for that. Wait till Thursday AM to see what ship it'll be. Personally I would never condone buying crates. Do it at your own risk. It's gambling. Wichita is a phenomenal cruiser. If you like the American heavy cruisers you can not go wrong with Wichita. If it were my money I'd say Plymouth and Wichita were among the best T7 cruisers available straight up for money, unless I am missing one. Bayard is okay

Always loved french DDs, torpedo build Kléber is one of the most fun and stupid thing you can do, and due to 2 MBRBs now its even better, you should give it a go, though i love how some people still complain french DDs are sh💩💩 wich they never were to begin with Btw sorry i couldn't catch the last few stream but i'm kinda trying to get away from the game these days, apart from some videos of course 😅

I feel like the French DD dispersion is wonky, every missed shell could lead to losing DD vs DD battles. With Perceptive, I nearly always have my guns already on the side of my ship that i need them on, so personally I take accuracy over traverse. Even tho yeah the traverse slow

I don't have Le Fantasque, yet. But in my opinion, Vauquelin is the WORST (!!!) DD in the game. Absolutely useless. Senseless to play this ship.
