French Alphabet for Beginners | Letters in French Pronunciation

Learn the French Alphabet with this quick French lesson. Speaking French is no easy task, so start slow with a French Alphabet for Beginners video. The French ABCs are essential when you will need to spell things, like your name, using French letters. Luckily for English speakers, the French alphabet uses the same 26 letters, although K and W are mostly just used in loanwords. Sometimes these letters have accents and ligatures, which will be covered in a later lesson.
In this easy French video, our native English speaker will say each letter and then it will be repeated twice by our native French speaker. If you need to keep working on your French alphabet pronunciation, be sure to start the video over and keep watching until you know how to say every letter in French.

The French alphabet is very similar to the Portuguese, except for a these ones: H, J, O, Q, R, U, W, X, Y, Z.

O mais chocante é que foi do francês, provavelmente no século XIX, que o português copiou os sons do g, j e r, distanciando-se foneticanente do espanhol e italiano.

The consonant sound is the same (the one you have in the word “Asia”). Now the name of the letter is different : G sounds like “jay” while J sounds like “jee”).
