Eckhart Tolle is widely recognized as one of the most original and inspiring spiritual teachers of our time. He travels and teaches throughout the world.
Eckhart is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition, but excludes none. His profound yet simple and practical teachings have helped thousands of people find inner peace, healing and greater fulfillment in their lives. At the core of his teachings lies the transformation of individual and collective human consciousness - a global spiritual awakening.
Eckhart Tolle is the author of The Power of Now, a #1 New York Times Bestseller, which has been translated into 32 languages and become one of the most influential spiritual books of our time.
In his most recent book, A New Earth, he shows how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world.

Our thoughts cheat us out of peace of mind. It’s so important to choose our thoughts with care. The mind is a garden and we must weed out the thoughts that stifle self.

Self-absorption equals depression and unhappiness in general. Not having the relationship with the self, as Eckhart teaches, results in such personal freedom that you feel like every day is unique, fresh and special. When people are self-involved they don't see the beauty of the world. This world is indeed created for our joy. It's so lovely to see the sky changing every hour, to experience rain, sunny days and snow. All this creates happiness when you are mindful. All this is missed by those identified with the unhappy me.

This was just what I needed to hear. I’ve been going through a constant anxious/depressive episode for the past two months, and I am kind of understanding that I’m identifying with the “unhappy me”. I have Eckhart’s book the Power of Now, but I’m scared that it will contradict the CBT therapy I am receiving right now that’s treating my anxiety/depression.

There’s nothing wrong with the self. It’s the false self (ego) that creates conflict. But when you give your full attention to the self then as projection will have it all you can see outside of you is the self and what emotion other than love has the capability to survive in such a state.

I disagree that thinking about the past and the future is not living. In fact, that’s a horrible way to look at what we think about. Sure, it’s good to be balanced or aware of how much we are living in the now essentially ... and many people need to do this more... like they need to eat more fresh fruit and veg... but, it is essential that we learn from the past and often savor the past as well as consider the future.

Still reeling from a personal loss of a relationship and these videos help me come to the present and accept this is what is. I can’t fight it. Denying it won’t make it untrue. I’m afraid I’ll never have a relationship in my life again but that fear is my ego talking. Moreover, it assigns importance’s to an external person to my value. So I’m going to just let go and breathe and tell myself this is what the universe needed. And where we are. And the universe will provide.

The experiencer and the experienced . You can experiment with this for yourself very simply and very easily. Next time you are angry or jealous or greedy or violent or whatever it may be, watch yourself. In that state, “you” are not. There is only that state of being. The moment, the second afterwards, you term it, you name it, you call it jealousy, anger, greed; so you have created immediately the observer and the observed, the experiencer and the experienced. When there is the experiencer and the experienced, then the experiencer tries to modify the experience, change it, remember things about it and so on, and therefore maintains the division between himself and the experienced. If you don’t name that feeling-which means you are not seeking a result, you are not condemning, you are merely silently aware of the feeling-then you will see that in that state of feeling, of experiencing, there is no observer and no observed, because the observer and the observed are a joint phenomenon and so there is only experiencing. JK.

In order to be enlightened, you must have death of the ego. If you do not let your ego die, then that is where your ceiling will lie. No matter how much you meditate how many breaths. You can't break that ego glass ceiling, unless it is dead. There is a very very big difference between the loving yourself you must love yourself. In order for you to receive love you must be able to understand love and you must be able to give love back. Love is not ego. Ego is almost exact opposite of love. I really find your conversation extremely enlightening and I've never quite looked at it that way so.,I'm impressed!

Dream Ocean - when I was a teen I had debilitating anxiety. Im 53 now and have done very well for 30 years. For me, I take a small dose of Citalopram (10mg 4-5 times a week before bed)… and meditate with ET, Alan Watts and Mooji… but you can find out what works for you. And you will. Don't fight it, just watch it... allow it to do its thing until it runs out of energy. You will be yourself again... only better.

@@dreamocean3598 sorry to hear about your pain and glad you are on your healing journey. Hope you have read The Power of Now by ET. In case it interests you I would recommend you follow Joe Dispenza's teachings. People have received miraculous physical, mental and emotional healings by following his work. You can view his videos on KZread to get an idea of his methods. ( His interviews with London Real, Tom Bilyeau, Leslie Howes are especially inspiring). You needn't spend a lot of money by attending his workshops, just by reading his books, especially Break The Habit of Being Yourself, you can do amazing self-healing. Good luck. Sorry hope I haven't been too pushy!

I have LIVED on both sides. 50 years ago our "world" was smaller. It revolved around our neighborhood, family, friends. The phone was used as a tool to reach out when we needed to. "Long distance" calling was not a factor: too expensive and poor connections. Television was on for a couple hours in the evening for "family time." Today we can speak to anyone on any part of the globe at any time. Texting was a way to send info quickly and get a response quickly. Our circle enlarged in our personal lives and in our professional lives. Information literally at our fingertips via computer technology made businesses more efficient and also quickened the pace at which we lived our daily lives. Who had time for meditation? People were at the beach on vacation with their laptops, in lines at banks and grocery stores with their phones in hand, texting and catching up on the latest news. I am 68 now, retired 2 years ago. Somewhere in my early 50's I began to turn my attention back to a quieter more peaceful time....what was missing? This was the spiritual seed that was planted in me since the day I was born. I loved looking at the stars from as far back as I can remember, in awe, inspired, feeling the pull of some Cosmic energy, wanting to "know"....whatever that meant. But this "seed" had not been nourished for decades as I got caught up in other "thoughts". Enter meditation and a growing distaste for the hustle and bustle in my life. Turning inward, I began to water " that seed"....and THAT seed turns out to be so important....it was me but not just me. It continues to grow, soft tendrils enveloping my life, lifting me up, higher....to see...that seed is "We"..... Life is a journey. I am grateful for every step of the way. Namaste. Blessings to all. ❤️🔥🙏🏼

Thought is an energy form. There is nothing physical you can do about it, but it pulls your attention and makes you think. You can choose the direction of your attention, rather than let it be dictated. You can direct your attention to your right hand, your foot, or an object. It won't affect your physical abilities to function. Thanks Eckhart. ☕🐿♥️🍑🏇📯🏜🏖 Thanks Eckhart.
