Good job on covering the considerations newer players might have, I can't always follow these from a newbie perspective (I'm only kind of new now), but this video covered them very well.

As someone who used SS Kanto trio a lot and has about 2 years playing with those 3 units, here are my recommendations. SS Blue > SS Red > SS Leaf. Obviously before any of that, if you lack any unit of the 3, get them. But lets say you have neither or all of them or all 3 but their grid is not unlocked enough, go with the order I mentioned. SS Blue is arguably the best support in the game even now. He can be slapped on pretty much any team and fix all your offensive and defensive stats for your main striker and the 3rd unit could be anyone, a secondary striker, tech to debuf your enemies or weather/terrain setter whatever, SS Blue makes pretty much any team possible plus, he deals decent damage for a support if you grid him the right way based on your team. SS Blue is just has insane utility. SS Red is the father of brainless strikers. You setup, and blast burn go brrrr. He is still one of the top strikers and takes care of on type and off type content with ease. If you have SS Red, you have a free stage. Be it Champion stadium, Legendary arena/gauntlet etc. He also nukes super hard, but you need 3/5 grid for that. But even without most of his grid, he is still one of the best strikers. SS Leaf is kinda underwhelming and arguably the weakest in this trio. She does have very high damage output, but it needs decent setup. She is a great healer, and sync accelerator with her passive and post sync trainer move use and she is effectively a cheese for a lot of stages with her bad poisoning. She needs a bit of baby sitting if you want to run her as your main striker, but if not, she is a great debuffer for your main striker and again, she is a great healer, with effective 3 potions, not counting MPR (2 potions and gradual heal with trainer move that heals same amount as a potion overtime) and with MPR she just gets even better. Her full grid is really good for using her as a damage dealer. Most of her utility is in her base kit and 2/5. She can be your primary tank, but you should bring someone what can buff her defenses. TL:DR - If you have 2 of them then get the 3rd one. If you have 1 of them then get priority should be SS Blue > SS Red > SS Leaf If you have all of them then get whose grid isn't fully unlocked in the order SS Blue > SS Red > SS Leaf If you have none of them, once again, priority should be SS Blue > SS Red > SS Leaf

I'd argue Leaf, could be better... but she does need a lot of investment. Red and Blue can run fine on just 1/5, she would benefit from at least 2/5. Toxic razor leaf debuffing and healing she is vary versatile, and can work on any team much like Red and Blue. Honestly they balance each other well, and if you have all 3 they're unstoppable, she can hit fairly well but Charizard hits super hard but glass cannon, meanwhile Blue doesn't do a whole lot of damage output but easily the best support in the game. I would also add that Zamazenta and Xerneas are free, and equally viable, whether you run them on the same team they can work with Leaf or Red. Difference is Blastoise can take a hit from anyone, while Xerneas and Zamazenta can take hits they do better when defending from special and physical respectively. Other units in the game should be taken into consideration too, but you make very good points and similar ones to me. Despite my love of Charizard and Red I'd say Leaf could be the best... but she does again as you and I said need investing in. Also Blue Arcanine is a bargain bin Red, works similarly, it's free now, it's ok should you not have Red... but then you can't run Blue Blastoise if that sways anyone. Each of them is equally as viable as the other, it depends on the team you set them up with, and what units you personally have. Because of Zamazenta and Xerneas I'd say Blue needs less of a focus, but that's just my opinion, and doesn't mean he's bad BY ANY MEANS, again easily the best support in the game as much as Red is one of the best strikers, and Red is top 2 best fire strikers right next to Reshiram (though don't know 100% I don't have that, just from what I've seen, I'd say better than Leon though unless with Galar units). Also could depend on if you have their classic alts, Aerodactyl is no Charizard, and Snorlax not a Blastoise, but you got those then Leaf could be a better option.

Another thing is I'd say Red should be your free choice if you already have them all at 2/5 or higher, saves you candies. Because there's so many other good strikers in the game, Groudon, Kyogre, Necrozma, Lunala, Zacian, etc that might need candies. Whereas very less limited time support units, of the 3 Red is 3/5 and the other 2 are 5/5, but Blue got there 1st because I don't have too many other units to use them on. The only one off the top of my head is Christmas Rosa. However, Leaf does benefit more going to 2/5 or higher and is better because of it while the boys are fine at 1/5 (though obviously better at 3/5). So if you have all of them only at 1/5, Leaf is probably the better option. The only other debuffer coming to mind, heck the only other one I personally use (and still to a lesser degree than Leaf) is Oak Mew. I really only use him on psychic teams though, and with toxic, unless they're poison resistant, Leaf is better. Not trying to pick a fight, just my opinion as someone who has also had all 3 since they released, and been running 3/5 or higher of them for a long time, like the moment I got a candy it went to them (granted lot less I wanted to invest in then, again so many solid strikers since then, not that it lessens Red's value any still my go to striker next to Lillie Lunala... and now Lusamine Necrozma, I still use him a little more than Lusamine though), and they prove equally as viable. It just depends on your preference and what you need, and I see Blastoise to a lesser extent because Zamazenta and Xerneas are just as valuable and free, like they're barely below Blastoise in ranking just because he is a better all-around tank, vs their more so focus on spc and physical. Though in a mode that requires a lot of support like legendary, yeah I guess you could say Blastoise, since bare minimum I'd assume people invest in the still super good Skyla (who takes some time since not everyone especially newer has her at 5/5), Xerneas, and Zamazenta, then you still need 1-2 solid supports and Blastoise an easy slot (especially if you run all 3, every week they're always facing the champion at 2,000 points no sweat). It truly is a hard decision, and we can't calculate for everyone's teams, someone may have Maxie and Classic Red so Leaf could benfit them, someone could have Archie and Giratina (or Mew, Giratina just popped into my head cause only good tech unit coming to mind) so Blastoise could benefit them. Lucy is a solid poisoner, Houndoom can too if you run that kit (less likely, but an option and saved my but recently in the legendary event against Cobalion), but debuff less than Leaf would, Mew a solid debuffer but still less than Leaf and no poison, you could run any of these units with say Necrozma and Xerneas. I also can't vouch if someone loves a character or Pokemon, some might not understand that, but if that's what they want no stopping them, I hate Sableye but tried for Caitlin, Iris is meh but I love Hydreigon.

For me is SS Red better as SS Blue

Perfect, I have Red and Leaf at 1/5 and Blue at 2/5, thought I was at an oddly specific situation but your prioritization at the end was exactly what I needed. Thanks!

For newer players i would recommend getting Red and work towards candy to unlock 3/5 sync grid and 6 star EX. He is great on and off type. Red has been invaluable to me early on and even now. This is my opinion. I am looking forward to Blue for this next event.

I was lucky enough to get both SS Blue and SS Leaf when I first started playing around the 2nd anniversary. I always use them together and they've pulled me through more stages than I can count. Then around a month ago SS Red and SS Blue had a rerun, so I pulled on that banner and got SS Red to 2/5. The other two are already 3/5, so I'm going for SS Red.

Already have SS blue 3/5 so he's not an option for me. I'm going to wait until datamine drops and see if Leon is rerunning this month. If yes, I'm picking leaf, but if not I'm probably going with red as I don't have any of the top fire strikers

I'm personally going for SS Blue. I started playing around the 2 year anniversary and pulled N & Reshiram so SS Red would be a bit redundant. SS Leaf doesn't interest me either, so that just leaves SS Blue. Which is also nice since Blastoise is my favorite Kanto starter.

I go for Mamo Red I have normal Blue in my team and Giovanni and I like Charizard so I choose him

Glad he made it easy at the beginning. I have 4/5 Red and 2/5 Blastoise, but no Leaf: ( Even if I can't really use her at 1/5 may as well have her and save up those candies

I feel Poce underplays her, yes she needs 2/5 at bare minimum while Red and Blue are some of the best strikers and supports even at 1/5. You invest in her though she's just as good and can work under any build like the Kanto boys. Especially with Zamazenta and Xerneas being free, there's your solid support, not as good as Blastoise because he is a wall in any set up (xerneas works better against spc attack, zamazenta physical, but still can take hits from the other side), but they are free. Just my personal opinion though, like I use her just as much as the other 2 whether apart or together, and together they're unstoppable, regardless of the game mode, any champion stadium 2,000 points they're always fighting the champion and win with ease. Even some where they may be nerfed like the regional rotations (though events with that kind of focus you don't get bonus drops, like they smoke the galactic battles in the Sinnoh chapter event). The only really difficult one might be Legendary arena, like 1/2 of them I haven't been able to take down with just them, but they still do massive damage taking at least 1 health bar with them. Venusaur does better as a healer toxic leaf debuffer, but can be just as useful as a semi striker or semi support. It all depends on your units and team... not that I'm trying to convince you obviously you made the choice, I just feel Poce undercuts some units. Like he says Iris Haxorus isn't good, but when her sync grid came out he was super hyping her up. She's still very viable and useful even if Zinquaza, another free unit, is better now.

You forgot a major aspect though. I was about to take blue, but then I realized red has some really nice music to unlock when ex’ed. So I will definitely take red just for his music key

Going for blue his support capabilities are something I really need I already have leaf and plenty fire options

Thanks for thw guide. 3 day old player here, and I got lucky and got blue om the very same summon that gives the trio for free, red it is. Love venasaur but we are given a free veggie unit that supports way better long term.

I have Red at 5/5, Blue and Leaf at 3/5 each. I'm gonna lean towards Leaf since she can increase her dsp and sync move by a little bit. Supports don't gain a lot past 3/5 unless you are OG Leaf, Sycamore or S.S. Dawn.

I was super lucky as a new player and got Red when he first dropped, before knowing anything about anything. 1 copy. He was (and still often is) my go-to, especially for off-type stages when I don't have anything else good enough. He CARRIED me, I legit didn't know the struggles of new players in clearing things, all because of Red. I can't recommend him enough as the first choice. Strong supports are key, sure, but even so, nothing compares to the utility of one good-for-everything beast of a striker when the rest of your kit is low. Of course, we have the flexibility of getting all the legendaries now, when we didn't before, so that is definitely a meta-changer. But that includes Xerneas, which is a fantastic support too, so you may not need Blue right away, same for if you have EX Rosa and EX Skyla. You should look at whether you struggle with damage output in some Master Mode stages and have been wishing for more power, or whether you've been wishing for more support coverage. Really, you can't go wrong with either Red or Blue. Totally agree with the rest of Poce's assessment. Going for my 2nd copy of Blue, if only to avoid spending more than one type of candy on any one of these guys. Man, I remember when SS Leaf was the biggest sync pair in the room, before Blue got buffed. :')

As for me who's just starting out i managed to pull SS red,SS blue twice,And SS leaf twice,That was basically my dream team lol

so I have blue at 5/5 and both leaf and red are 4/5 which should I pick in this case? I was leaning more towards leaf since shes a tech but idk

I got VERY lucky when they had there rerun. Got 2/5 Blue, 2/5 Red and 5/5 Venusaur in only 26k. Blue got Candy, so he is 3/5 since long time. So easily pick red to get him 3/5 too, But if i dont had anyone of them, i would definitly pick Blue. He`s such an INCREDIBLE Support. And Supports are allways needed.

I got super lucky at the 6 month anni, got SS Red to 5/5 and the 500 sync orbs that came with it. At the 1 year anni I got SS Leaf to 3/5. Still don't have SS Blue but that's about to change real soon.

this is the easiest decision of my life; had ssl and ssb 3/5 since first anniversary and had 2/5 red since that time as well. definitely gonna appreciate the upgrade

I have 1/5 Red and 2/5 Blue and Leaf. Although getting Blue seems reasonable, I not sure if Impervious and heal on hit etc is that useful and has served me fine at 2/5. Also I have like 4 support candies so unless I pull Sonia or Falkner, I don't seem myself using them for a while, especially since there no supports next month. I do use Blue much more than Red/Leaf so not sure. Therefore I think getting 2/5 Red for Haymaker and maybe there something else on grid would be better as I have him EX but don't have his multiplier. I do have 1/5 Leon so probably wouldn't get to use Leon for Fire at least outside of gauntlet as I have Erika for Sun and would need Attack buffer. Haven't used Leaf for damage due to Brendan, Erika or even Silver (maybe will pull for Maxie in future) so won't prioritise her. Basically would 3/5 Blue or 2/5 Red be more useful?

I don't believe I've had the chance to get SS Red since I started the game. Meanwhile I have SS Blue and SS Leaf at 3/5 or higher each. So it's definitely SS Red for me.

I am a bit on the fence on who to pick. I have SS Blue and I’m missing the other two. While SS Red is probably the better unit I already have Leon and Anniversary N, so I feel like I’ve got fire covered. So my choice will probably be SS Leaf.

Oh this is so easy for me. Picking Leaf because Red and Blue are already 3/5 and Leaf is 1/5. I’m probably gonna use a candy on Leaf to get to 3/5 too. Already EX’d her for fun and in preparation for this!

Same as poce, missing 1 but have other 2, easy choice pick up the missing one. If you have all 3 3/5, I'd say Red because much more strikers in the game, save you candies, Leaf next if Red 5/5, then Blue because a lot less support units. I also only use candies on limited characters, of which they fall into, but again a lot less support units, so candies always go straight to Blue for me, he's 5/5 right now because of it only other support coming to mind is Christmas Rosa (at least of the ones I have). Meanwhile you got Zekrom who is limited, Necrozma, Groudon, Kyogre, Lunala, how many seasonals? So save your candies for them use the freeby on Red, if you don't have any of them... sorry Poce I think Leaf may be a better option... but I do agree needs investment. As much as I love Red and they holds up, very powerful striker, said in previous comments even Master Fair Leon pales in my opinion (unless with fellow Galar units of course), only other fire team I would say better is eventually maybe Siver Ho-Oh based on how they could buff it, if they gave it an attack that hits everyone sure. However that is unknown if that will happen, Ho-Oh can be better nuker focusing on 1 unit at a time maybe, but hitting everyone at once Red has it beat. N Reshiram is up there granted that's just form observation I don't have N Reshiram. I've also said Blue Arcanine seems like a bargain bin Red, solid... but not as good and that means you can't run Blue Blastoise with them. I'd say Leaf is the best just for how useful she is, how potent she is with toxic and razor leaf, debuffing, one of the my favorite and most used units because of that... Granted usually she is on a team with the hard hitting Red and beefy Blue Blastoise. Also however, Poce says you need a good bulky unit on a team with her, we got 2 free, Zamazenta and Xerneas, be they on the same team or Xerneas for special attackers and Zamazenta physical. From that alone, those 2 easily make her viable... but I would also invest candies into her. Leaf is also while not as good of a striker or support capable of taking on those roles if you want her to, obviously better debuffer, toxic, and healer, but an option. Of the 3 without candies Red and Blue are solid, for the longest time Red held out his own with just 1/5, 3/5 makes him obviously better. Same with Blue as is he's perfectly fine, and there isn't much I can say for Blue to separate them he's also a very good pick because of how tanky he is, even regardless of whether it's special or physical. Can cause confusion, boost gauge filling, Mega Blastoise giving endurance to all units, rain teams work well, but Blue is good regardless of the team he is on much like Red. Blue like Red also works perfectly well at 1/5 Red you need good shields to hold out while he dishes out damage, same with Green, but Blue is also that shield, while not crazy at dishing hits out. They're fairly balanced and having all 3 together you just dominate almost any mode, really up to you and what you personally need. Again with Blue Arcanine is a cheap free Charizard, a bargain bin Red Charizard, not as good but similar job if that sways you but again no Blutoise on that team. You can also run Leaf with the boy's classic counter parts well enough, Snorlax isn't Blastoise, and Aerodactyl is by no means Charizard, but Leaf still works well with them should you have them and not the sygna boys. If you're new I'd personally say Leaf if you're fine with investing into her and waiting till you get more candies, but because of more investment I also can't say confidentially she is the better pick, only after you've invested in her, and 2/5 is perfectly fine. Blastoise could be a viable option since Blue Arcanine is available now, but Red Charizard is better and again Zamazenta Xerneas free supports... It's really hard to choose, and really depends on you, your teams, and if you like their characters or Pokemon on a personal level that's fine to do too, if you just want to pull for those you like.

I have all 3 units at 3/5, so I'll go for Red, I'll benefit the most since he is a damage dealer unit.

Already have those three and 3/5 move level and for me go to SS Red to 4/5 First priority if have SS Red and SS Blue (both 3/5) : SS Leaf Second priority if have SS Red and SS Leaf (both 3/5) : SS Blue Third Priority if have SS Blue and SS Leaf (both 3/5) : SS Red Other option if have them 2/5 or one of them 2/5 - SS Red, SS Leaf, SS Blue (2/5) : recommended SS Blue - SS Red (3/5), SS Leaf (2/5), SS Blue (2/5) : recommended SS Blue - SS Red (2/5), SS Leaf (3/5), SS Blue (1/5) : recommended SS Blue - SS Red (3/5), SS Leaf (2/5), SS Blue (2/5) : recommended SS Blue or SS Leaf depends the option needed But if have them 1/5 well maybe hard option but some situation like : - If have another fire type that already strong like Leon & Charizard and N & Reshiram and both of them (3/5 or one of them 3/5) focus on SS Blue - if have top 3 fire type but both if them still 1/5 (SS Red, Leon, and N) focus on SS Red. - if have 3 top fire type unit (SS Red, Leon, and N) and have SS Blue 3/5 then choose SS Leaf SS Red is already full potential at 2/5. So the conclusion is : 1st SS Blue 2nd SS Red 3rd SS Leaf That's what I think

If u dont have / only have 1 of them : - prior to Red - Blue - Leaf, if u lack of dmg dealer - prior to Blue - Red - Leaf, if u need more supporter building team in Champion If u already have all of these : - make them 3/5 prior to Blue - Leaf - Red - Blue provided +Def, MGAcceleration and CRIT; passive/syncgrid provided team enduring, healing, +Atk & SpAtk, +SpDef. With all these, he can almost fit in any team in any stage - 2/5 and 3/5 Leaf is great with potion master, debuff and poison - Red is already good enough with 1/5, but of course it would be better if u can get 3/5

I'm really torn about whether I should choose Red or Blue. Would Red still be useful if I already use someone like N & Reshiram? Or would it be better to go with more support? Decisions are harddd

I think red is never a bad option but you should consider what tanks you have, of you're running low go for blu otherwise red is a monster of a sync pair

I have 1/5 Red, 2/5 Blue and 2/5 Leaf but tbh i still don't know since i have units like Leon and Anni N for fire damage so idk between blue or leaf for 3/5....

Leaf 3/5 is for damage. If ur not using leaf for damage, then go for blue

I have both red and leaf max 5/5 but my blue is 4/5 so ima go for blue

Leaf is the only unit I don't have out of the three. Completing the trio seems only appropriate.

I thinking of picking Leaf since Red is 4/5 and Blue is 3/5. She's only 1/5 for me. Unless I max out Red to 5/5??

Went with Red bc obviously Strikers get the most out of move levels past sync grid relevance. Idk why I didn't realize that immediately

Easy choice for me. Leaf is already 4/5, Blastoise got to 3/5 from the recent Alder banner when I was trying to get Red so now Red can finally stop being 1/5 already. >:(

I already had red and he's my strongest hard hitter right now and because blue didn't really interest me I picked leaf

I have all 3/5 so I pick red for more DPS

I had red at 5/5, leaf at 3/5 and blue at 2/5 so I picked blue.

I have both SS Red and Leaf at 5/5 EX but I personally don’t really like blue due to him wasting MGA for max crit and more importantly blastiose cannons doing crap nothing even on sync animation.

Maybe "strongest" isn't the word, but "valuable".

I picked Leaf for the drip!

Personally I'm Getting Leaf Because I don't have her and I already have Red and Blue Max out and Ex'd, so yeah.
