I use Crystal Light containers for leftover condiment packets, such as taco sauce, cocktail sauce, ketchup, etc. I have a separate container for each type of condiment, & I label the lid with a marker. These can all be organized & stored in a box or basket.

I watched a few of your videos last night and enjoyed them a lot. Just subscribed after seeing the re-purposing one. I also clean the candle containers and use them as little flower holders for the bathroom, end tables or even the porch (you can put sand on them and a cactus flower). The tall containers are great also if you spray paint them or cover with paper and use as pencil holder. They are quite decorative. In fact, when I recently prepared a homework caddy (Alejandra and ABFL) for my granddaughter, that's what I used to hold her color pencils and it fit perfectly. I always say that anyone can decorate a house with lots of $$$, the hard thing is to do it in a budget, where you really have to be creative and clever like you. But what a great feeling you get when you make the most of a good container and not just toss it. You have vision!!! Kuddos for you on helping encouraging on being wise with spending.

My favorite organizing 'secret' ---Everybody has a kitchen drawer that seem to catch all the stuff you use, might use, parts saved, etc. I clean out and save the plastic peanut butter jars that are just the right size to stand up in my kitchen drawer. They are clear plastic, so anything I put in them is clearly visible. I do home repairs my self so I have a jar each for plumbing washers, screws, nails, picture hanging wire & hooks, wire nuts, etc. You can store whatever clutters up your drawers and make it so much easier to find what you are looking for!

I buy a huge bag of baking soda from Costco (12lbs) I store some in a container with a shaker (parmesan containers) and sprinkle on my carpets before I vacuum. The baking soda deodorizes the carpet and it is stored under my sink. Baking soda also works well for removing stuck on food from casserole dishes and degreases.

Debbie Gorman baking soda is a great scrubber for cups with stains (teas) or even bathroom cleaner. my mom uses a small amount in the washer for clothes. I've used it with peroxide instead of toothpaste for years. Two great cleaners: baking soda and vinegar!

My daughter and I both love to drink tea, but it stains my porcelain sink. I used to use soft scrub with bleach to scrub it out, but we are both asthmatic and I felt so sick after leaning into the sink and breathing the fumes. Now I sprinkle baking soda and the fresh lime juice ( 20 for $1 at many Mexican grocery stores!). It is awesome to see the baking soda bubble up, and my sink gets incredibly clean-even more so than with all those horrible chemicals I used to use!

I use the big plastic UTZ brand containers that have the cheese balls and pork rind snacks in them in my kids room. We put their little toys in them cars, trains and anything with little pieces. My MIL saves the containers of cheese balls for me and my mom brings the others from her work for me.

Okay, I thought I was the only crazy person that use Pringle cans to hold pasta. I use them for all types of pasta.... from spaghetti, rotini, lasagna, elbow noodles..... My pantry is filled with recycled Pringle cans! I store them on their side with the label on the clear lid. It makes for easy seeing and meal planning!

I love your channel. thank you. i like to use small pimento jars for storage in a drawer. you put lets say paper clips in them close the lid and turn the jar upside down in the drawer. that way you can easily see whats inside them. the lid closes tight so nothing falls and their free. plus i love pimento cheese sandwiches.

I used an old quaker oats container as a headband holder for my girls. I mod podged scrapbook paper on the outside and hot glued a big decorative flower on the lid. The head bands fit perfectly around the outside without slipping down. It's as if the container was made to fit them and we use the inside of the container to store soft sided headbands - like the ones you use when you wash your face.

Oh I love this too! I love how eco friendly this is, and they are such good tips! I kind of want to get pringles now, I love pringles, and now I have a cool thing to do with the container. I also love scented candles so I might start getting them from bed bath and beyond. 1. I use old spaghetti sauce jars to store baking soda, sugar, beans, rice etc that I get from bulk. 2.I keep berry containers, and I bring them to the farmers markets. Usually they will empty berries from their own plastic container into a plastic bag. I just get them to fill the berry containers that I brought. This saves them a plastic bag, and I don't have to throw out the containers. 3. I save my olive oil and vinaigrette bottles, wash them, bring them back to the store, and get them refilled with olive oil and vinaigrette from bulk. They give me a dollar discount for each bottle I bring in. I refilled my 2 bottles 3 times, and I saved $6.4. I also saved one of my large yogurt container to store my abeego wrap in. 5.When people give me cookie/chocolate tins for Christmas, I keep them and store nuts in them that I buy from bulk. 6.Old plastic peanut butter jars are good for filling stuff at the store in bulk instead of using a plastic bag. 7.I save my dish-soap dispenser, and use it to fill with dish-soap that I get at the store from bulk. I get a small discount, for bringing my own container. 8. I also washed out my hand soap bulk refill containers, and use them to fill with extra dish-soap so I don't have to go to the store as often.9 The same store also has hand soap in bulk, so I washed out and saved my other hand soap bulk container, and I refill that one with hand soap to refill my dispensers when I get home. I also get a small discount for this.10. My hand soap dispensers are made of plastic and they are meant to be for single use. I wash them out, and refill them with bulk hand soap rather than buy new dispensers. It's a lot cheaper this way. 11. I washed out my hairspray bottle and now I keep water in it. I use it to spray water on my clothes when I get a stain so I can rub it our with a stain bar. 12. I wash out my essential oil bottles and refill them with essential oil from bulk. I get a discount at the store for bringing my own bottle. 13. I"m going to start making my own laundry soap so I will be washing out and saving my current dispenser so I can refill it with homemade soap. It is way cheaper to make your own soap.

Katie Gray It's a local store in my city, I wish I could say it was a chain so everyone could do it but it's not. The stores are called Earth's General Store and Carbon. My olive oil and vinaigrette discount of $1 each for each bottle I reuse is from Evoolution, which I believe is a chain store. However, if you do find a place that carried handsoap etc in bulk, and you bring your own container, it is cheaper to do this most of the time than buying the individual ones, whether you get the container discount or not, this is because bulk is usually cheaper.

I absolutely LOVE the containers from Costco that hold chocolate covered raisins, nuts, etc. . . They have a nice large opening on top and a screw on lid that gives a tight seal. I use them as extra canisters, to hold cookies once packages are opened, to store bean, lentils and even pasta, etc. . . They really are wonderful and since I am already buying the product, it is nice to have free organizers. The best part is they are all the same size, making it easy to space plan!

Adams peanut butter jars are pretty and glass so I spray painted the lids silver and made a stencil out of paper to add a Mickey mouse silhouette on top. The used the waltograph front to label it for nuts, seeds, etc (because I usually buy them in bulk or in those terrible bags). It looks uniform now and matches my Disney kitchen but could work really for anything! We also used leftover containers for yard work, plumbing issues, feeding animals, organizing Legos, and you name it! Thanks for the inspiration!

I stand them up in a pretty basket and it all looks so pretty on my worktable. I have also cut pockets out of old jeans and tacked them up on the wall to store miscellaneous objects. At Dollar Tree, there are little boxes "3-in1 Cotton Set", they have cotton swabs, pads, etc. In my house, when they get used up, I save the boxes for hair supplies :) I have 3 girls, so we use lots of hair ties, bobby pins and clips. I used a powdered drink container to store some long cotton swabs I have. I also made a Crystal Light container into a coin bank for loose change I find around the house. I re-use most of my glass jars for dry-ingredient storage. I also re-use glass jars to put things in when I am gifting small items or food items for the holidays or for birthdays. I rarely throw away glass items, as most of them can be repurposed into food storage. Plastic items aren't always best for storing food (BPA and other plasticizers), but I try to re-use them for non-food storage.

Kathryn, the one item that I recycle for organizing is prescription bottles. I remove the lable, wash & dry them. Then I use them for lots of things. In my bathroom; individual eye drops, floss picks, floss threaders, you name it. In my office supply; paper clips, sticky note flags, push pins, etc. Sewing supplies; rubber bands, safety pins, straight pins, measuring tape. I also use them by size, for example the rounder ones I use for the floss pinks, for my individual eye drops which are taller & quite thin j use a skinnier & taller bottle. For my purse, I put gum in one & mints in another. In my home, my husband & I are on a. number of meds, so I always have a good supply if I need one. If that's not the case for you, then perhaps an older parent, aunt, uncle or friend would be happy to let you take them off their hands. That is of course after you've told them how you're going to use them & then they can get a little more organized.

I'm new to your videos dear...but my best organizing tip.. Is that I use my front door as a lovely message center ( it's metal as most outer doors are) so I've decorated it with lots of things, Mostly from the Dollar tree ! I have a magnetic calendar, note pad, dry erase board & markers and even some of those pretty motivational stickers that also come from Dollar Tree, if I have appointments or coupons I want to use they are right there for me to see before I leave the house, I'm very happy to share this great tip! this is also a great tip for the inside of a teen or child's room door because you can get large pieces of magnet boards from so many places now... this keeps everything right at hand.... and out of drawers! most times it's out of sight (out of mind) it's sometimes very hard to stay organized !!! thanks for the tips !!! XOXO Alma

I never save the metal lids that come with some glass jars, because they rust inside the rim. If you do use them, be sure to place double folded plastic wrap between the jar and the lid. I also save miscellaneous plastic jar lids and sometimes I can match them up. I did read an article about reusing plastic containers and bags. It stated that the type of plastic they're made out of is completely safe, except that if you wash it with hot water and soap the plastic will quickly break down. So it's best to rinse out with cold water and little if any soap. I also save the large plastic containers that lettuce comes in. Most the time I don't need the lid, so I cut off the rim and use it for a one-time disposable cutting board.

I save containers too. Like cottage cheese and salsa. I take them to big family dinners because everyone usually wants to take a little something home with them. I take containers for everyone. :)

I have a bin full of different organizers, boxes (quality ones like watch boxes or metal tins), zipper bags etc for when i'm in an organizing mood. I rotate my things regularly when organizing. If something i'm using in another room that would work better for a different room, i'll move it if i can find something else to replace it with. So its nice to keep a bin of extras to look thru before going out and buying something else. Things go in and out regularly; and everything i may need is in one place not all over. Labels are key when the organizer / container is not clear. I only use the labels reusable labels from the container store. they are the best. Dishwasher safe and last forever!

One great thing is comforters and bedsheets sets come in plastic zipped covers .. I always reuse them for storing clothes or for traveling.. They really work great .. I love to reuse jars as well. But another of my fav things to reuse is hangers you get when you purchase pants/skirts. I cut off each "clip" file Sharpe edges down with a nail file and there you have it, TWO free snack bag clips.

We use the empty coffee-mate creamer tubs for paint, seals it quite well. Other uses for them are, nuts and bolts, legos/matchbox cars/barbiedoll items etc.

I use an old quart sized yogurt container to store my curved safety pins that I use for basting quilts. The most efficient way to store them is open, so I need a container with a lid. The fact that the top of the container is large means easy access to the pens when I get ready to baste. Just now, I have a quilt basted that needed over 750 pens. They will all go in this yogurt container, one at a time and open, as I take them out while I am quilting. I have a years old metal vegetable can that I use to melt bee's wax, I set it in a pan of simmering water and melt my old, cracked bee's wax blocks. These blocks are used to condition hand sewing thread. Draw the thread through the bee's wax before threading the needle to prevent knotting. If you are feeling like a seamstress in a Paris fashion house, iron the thread before threading the needle, after you have pulled it throug the bee's wax. Anywayyyy, since bee's wax is rather expensive, I remelt and remold. I have an old strainer dedicated to this process. Sometimes there will be lumps of old thread lint in the bottom of the strainer. I strain the melted bee's wax into a very old heart shaped candle mold. I have no idea how old the can, strainer, and mold are. I've been using them for years. They live in the bottom shelf of my sewing machine cabinet. Thanks for all your helpful information!

I tap out all of the loose "chips" and then I take a barely damp cloth and run it along the inside. I haven't had a problem with everything coming out really easily. If you want, you could even sprinkle a bit of baking soda inside, shake it up, and then tap it out. Good luck :)

Yes, it can totally get out of control. We have a box in the garage where I keep them, and when it gets full, I don't add anything to it (although it's tempting). Sort of a 1 in, 1 out rule ;)

I have used the small Pringles snack containers for pencil holders on my desk, I covered it with some left over self-adhesive shelf liner. I even had one of the other secretaries ask about where I got one of them, so I gave it to her. After about 10 years? they are still in use...

Great ideas! I use the crystal lite containers to store cough drops in in my freezer over the summer. I detest in the fall and winter trying to open a cough drop wrapper and having to peel it off.. It can be sticky and yucky. The containers are slim and short enough that they don't take up much room in the freezer.

I love the drink tube containers. they are perfect for crackers. Also I poked a few holes in the lid of one and put a bit of flour, salt, and pepper in it. I use this to dust meats when I'm cooking. I seriously can't throw away a glass jar. Its my grandmothers fault. She canned. Anyway I picked up some little animals at Dollar General at Easter time and spring. I used similar sized jars. I spray painted the lid and glued the animals on top and filled them with candy for friends. But I have two with roosters on my counter top. One has sweetener and one has creamer. They are so nice. They match my kitchen well. I also have one with a bunny by my kitchen plants. It holds those little feeder spikes for houseplants.

I re-use old coffee canisters, the Folgers red plastic ones (or the blue brand ones) for storing my extra sugar & flour in. I like to keep those stocked in the pantry but hate keeping them in the bags they come in for fear of bugs & humidity. I find that they stay so much fresher in the containers :)

I also cut them and staple the rim to look nice and store anything you like example vanilla and baking bags and use them like drawer dividers or in boxes to divide greeting cards.I received recently a heart chocolate box the plastic inside(gold in color) is very nice to organize earrings in your jewelry box or drawer . I hope that you like my ideas. thank you.
