I appreciate your videos and enjoy seeing the thought process. I’m curious what your counter argument is to Jeff Sturgis’ theory of needing “depth of cover”. Essentially since does and fawns bed closest to food, the more plots you have, especially on smaller properties, the more displaced the buck bedding becomes, likely pushing them off your property.

Hey Joey, not sure I have a counter argument to Jeff. His books and videos were a big help for me developing my property and concepts. Sure, bucks don't exactly integrate with does/fawn, but close proximity bedding seems to work just fine. Meaning, you can have both within 50 yards of each other. There just need to be some separation, an alternate area for a buck to go if he wants to hang out on your property. I certainly want to have bucks bedding and living on my property and plan accordingly, but I tend to lean more into the philosophy that if there are does on the property, the bucks will be parading through to keep tabs on them, giving me an opportunity to see multiple bucks on each sit. The recent MSU study shows bucks do not hang out in one spot for long during the rut, maybe a couple of days if he's with a hot doe. So the bucks are much less controllable than does during the hunting season. So for me, I want does does does does, they are the greatest buck attractant on earth starting late October. The bucks will find a place to bed on your property if the does are there. All the best to you.

Makes a lot sense. Excellent point regarding the MSU studies and work they’re doing on buck movements/bedding. I appreciate the thorough response. Keep up the good work.
