Just found your channel last week. You guys have great content. We love to boondocked in our Lance truck Camper. We spent New Year's weekend at William's Hill. We camped out New Year's night on the bluff that overlooks the road because the campground was full. Saturday night we spent in site 2. The views are amazing! Hard to believe there's still free camping in Ca. We live in Nipomo so we're always looking for cool dispersed camp spots up and down the coast. Cheers! And happy camping🏕👍🏼

Thanks so much for this. Based on your review I visited Williams Hill in February 2020. It’s absolutely one of my most favorite dry camping spots I’ve ever been to. The drive up from the paved road was pretty hairy, even with my little 12’ camper. I kind of held my breath and hoped for the best and made it up to the top. When I was there I think there were two other campsites occupied. It was quiet and pretty magical. I would definitely consider going back to the spot sometime. It’s something of an ordeal getting there, but worth the trek. Very convenient to exploring the California coast. Absolutely worth the trip up to the campsite.

How many miles are you driving on dirt road? Would a campervan have any issues with this? Was looking to stay here (although had to cancel due to covid continuing to spread)

Enjoyed your video a lot! It's nice that there are still places that you can actually camp for free - I just wonder how much longer it's going to exist, forever I hope! Did you have to make any kind of reservations? It sure would be a bummer to make that drive only to arrive to a "full house". Glad your family enjoyed themselves as well! Happy trails!

No reservations needed at all and that was definitely a concern, but they have some non developed areas up there too so if you get up there and the actual campground is full, there are areas where you can just pull off and camp too so it isn’t too risky! Thanks so much for watching our video!!

@@WhyWeWork Hi! going up there next week. I notice you said there are non developed areas you can pull off and camp, too, and that is our plan due to campsite closures because of Covid. Are they easy to locate? Do they seem like they'd be good enough to set up tent? This is our first time camping somewhere that doesn't have a campsite and were anxious to see how it plays out.

How are the turns on the road in/ out? We have a 37’ bus, needs space for wide turns... would it make it? Hard to see with our basic map apps...

Isn't great you can legally camp for free on BLM land in California? Until a ranger, who disagrees with that interpretation of the law, knocks on the door of your camper and says, "You need to vacate this no camping zone immediately". With enough time and money you could surely get a court to rule in your favor and prove that insistent ranger to be wrong. But unfortunately you only have that weekend to go camping and that's not nearly enough time for the Federal court to adjudicate your complaint. Oh well, there's always the Walmart parking lot; at least for those Walmart stores that still allow overnight boondocking.

@@denisebaker5963 most times it's free. If there are amenities like bathrooms, potable water and trash service there will likely be a camping fee. Usually less than a State or National park campground.

Ya, we are saving up for a generator so we can boondock a lot more when it gets hot! So nice to be able to spread out, let the dogs run off leash, and not be crammed in like sardines at a campground that costs $80/night... How did your free camping trip go a few weeks back?

#WhyWeWork it went great! I need to edit it and get it on my channel. We chose a spot we scouted out this past January. We didn’t expect many other campers but it turned out to be fairly busy. Lots of hunters and fishermen and a few families. Somehow we got THE best spot there. Not sure how we got so lucky. I’m going through your video list now so You’ll probably see more comments from me lol. I really want those jack stabilizers you got. Anyhow check out my channel if you want. The videos I have so far aren’t great but I’m working on improving them.
