Freddie Mercury was a man of many talents and many different sides. The songs he wrote for and with Queen filled stadiums around the globe and have rightly gone down in history, but he also embarked on a solo career that took him from the clubs of Munich and New York to the great opera houses of the world.
He was the ultimate showman, but he kept his private life away from the prying eyes of the media; a larger than life rock star who loved disco, classical music and ballet. He was a restless spirit, a true chameleon who revelled in his own contradictions.
All the different sides of this iconic musician can be found on Freddie Mercury: Messenger Of The Gods - The Singles. All formats released September 2nd 2016.
This lovely footage was filmed at La Nit festival at Montjurich Castle in Barcelona on 8th October 1988, by Gavin Taylor. 'The Golden Boy' was the second single to be released from the 'Barcelona' album. See also the beautiful 'Barcelona' and 'How Can I Go On', also filmed at this event. This single was released in the UK on 24th October 1988.

Almost everybody is commenting that Freddie is perfect in this performance (I agree obviously) but also Mrs. Caballé is amazing in here. Both artists were a perfect duo. ❤

Montserrat Caballe was considered by many opera aficionado the most incredible beautiful voice for two decades. She could sing anything and if you know Opera that's a very difficult task, trust me. Freddie and Montserrat were so natural together, you could see how much they enjoyed each other.
You can tell Montserrat and Freddie were having the time of their lives preforming this song!🥹

So sad they couldn’t go on a full live tour or at least one live concert. You can say this counts, but it’s entirely lip synced. The sad thing is this was probably his last era where he would’ve been capable of doing a solid 20 show tour. So sad it never happened. Imagine a set full of Mr. Bad Guy and Barcelona album material live. 🤤

Pepito Grillo monserrat has great the vocal techniques while freddie has the unique rock style. But yeah in technique freddies way of singing wasnt healthy. He didnt care about techniques so he ripped apart his vocal chords singing how he did
What a blend of genres! Rock, opera, gospel, soul…and it became a harmonious, melodius production with Freddie, Monse(asked Freddie to call her Monse) and the gospel choir singing. When the King of Queen and the Queen of Opera met musically, there was a marriage made in heaven. They are both singing with the angels. We “love you for your passion.”💕🎼👏🏽👍🏽

The perfect marriage of rock, opera and gospel with the 2 best voices and artists ever!!
This right here is a really odd combination of genres and artist, but it works extremely well. A black church/soul choir, a legendary opera singer, and a rock star. And yet it's still a really, really good combo.

The both of them together take my breath away. He sought her out, wanting to sing with her ever since he first heard her in Coventry Garden. When they finally met in Barcelona, he won her over immediately. Montserrat Caballé was the operatic voice of these two centuries and Freddie was clearly the Rock talent of the same era. They were both at the peak of their careers and had everything to gain by joining forces and definitely loving each other, deeply. It is there for all to see, hear, and know from interview in which they talked about each other and how they held onto each other at every opportunity.

Wow! Another Bohemian Rhapsody like masterpiece. Opera, gospel, rock, with doomsday sounds interwoven with soaring melody. Gorgeous! They match in their singing prowess, and in their love and admiration for each other. They've both stepped out of their usual boxes, together, and thoroughly enjoy themselves and each other. I'm heart broken at Freddie's early death, but so glad he got to live out this particular part of his dream. Live on Freddie. And Montserrat -
How did I never know about this? I love Caballé’s glowing smile. She’s clearly having such a great time. I loved her & Freddie.

This piece is very operatic. It starts with Freddie’s recitative, then duo arias for Montse and Freddie and their chorus gospel inspired, the section of Montse and the choir, with Montse at the finale, ending with recitative, then aria. @@dorisbailey4678 Thank you Doris. I edited my comment, since this was a year old. I had forgotten other things that I wanted to add. Have a nice Day, Afternoon or Evening. It's almost 11 pm here. Time Zones always keep me confused. 💞

What a beautiful performance, the feeling between these two artists is electrifying.
This is unbelievable! I had no idea that Freddie Mercury made performances such as this. These two are a perfect duo!
The music world is so much poorer without these two exceptional talents, since they were gone. RIP Montserrat and Freddie
I'm glad Freddie got to accomplish his dream of singing with opera, bringing it to even us rock fans. Who knows what amazing music we would have today if he was still here. 😰 Also, he looks amazing in the tux!

Even if he died before the time he was supposed, he looks happy on this video, and I'm happy for him.
Grieving the fact that this incredible talent is no longer with us.
IS a FANTASIC❤❤❤❤ Thank you Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballe❤❤❤💥💥👏👏👏👏❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I don't care, when I return home I'm spending the first part of my passing going to every concert of the greats. They are having way too much fun up there while we're left reminiscing 🥺♥️🥺🥺♥️
The fact that I'm only 20 years old and my many other friends loved their songs are the proove that their songs are timeless

Simply breathtaking. Perfection. So much talent!!❤️❤️❤️
This is the most beautiful performance I've seen in a long time.
I love it how Monserrat is so in to the gospel part. Look at that smile. That has got to be one of the most wonderful smiles I've ever seen :).

I love Freddie's music. It always calms me down when I am angry. He's the medicine for broken hearts and souls
I can't believe Freddie sang such great opera, his words are clear, his actions and motions crisp, and the two are sensational together. God bless them both dead or alive. xoxo
These two are rocking the heavens.
Freddie I love you for your passion...Is there anything more beautiful? And all written by Freddie himself. Such a treasure we had. Thank you for posting.

Absolutely breathtaking...I got lost somewhere between the audience singing "and then he sang to her", and "I love you for your silence , "I love you for your passion" "yes the boy had a way with words! He could have talked me into doing anything for him! 💘❤️💓💗💕💞
They are so wonderful together. He turned Montsy into a rock and roller. She seems to like it. And Freddie is so beautiful.
Wow, I absolutely adore this song. As is typical of a song that Freddie played a part in writing, this song covers so many musical genres in a span of six minutes. There’s rock, there’s gospel, there’s opera, and everything is done beautifully!
It's a shame this video has not gone viral in reaction videos. It has EVERYTHING. AMazing singing, amazing composition, gospel, rock, opera. EVERYTHING. Pure epicness.
Freddie made Opera more beautiful and enjoyable

Every time I listen to this, becomes more amazing to me. What a beautiful melding of talents only Freddie could foresee, bringing pop and opera together .He was a genius to venture into that gendre.
two beautiful souls, almost unbelievable how their mutual respect and passion were able transcend their genre's and bring such joy to all. RIP both
