Freddie Mercury was a man of many talents and many different sides. The songs he wrote for and with Queen filled stadiums around the globe and have rightly gone down in history, but he also embarked on a solo career that took him from the clubs of Munich and New York to the great opera houses of the world.
He was the ultimate showman, but he kept his private life away from the prying eyes of the media; a larger than life rock star who loved disco, classical music and ballet. He was a restless spirit, a true chameleon who revelled in his own contradictions.
All the different sides of this iconic musician can be found on Freddie Mercury: Messenger Of The Gods - The Singles. All formats released September 2nd 2016.

It's not a Beach Boys song. They covered it. Originally recorded by The Ronettes
I love how relaxed his voice on this song is.
Can you imagine seeing Freddie doing this at a concert. Hearing this old music, and knowing Freddie is singing it and sounding so young, makes me feel so melancholy. Wish things turned out differently, but can only pray that he is at peace in our Lord's loving arms. You really were (and still are) a LEGEND.

What a great voice he had even then. Miss that golden voice of his
I've still got the single of this got it back in the 70s when I became a fan of Queen.
Fun Fact: this single came out a month before Queens first album, which means this is technically the first official release of Freddie’s voice

A Google commercial is how I ended up here. Had to know who sang that song. Had to know, was just too perfect. Everything about it including the music behind the vocals. Made me think of the Ronettes and the Crystals and Phil Spector. Perfection in every way.

This song sounds like it came from the 60's. Freddie could sing anything and it touched your heart. Wish you were still here. Love you darling.❤🐈
Freddie you are the best for ever 😢
to people wondering if this is Freddie: this is no doubt Freddie. his impeccable and unique phrasing should be abundantly clear he's the one singing this. even hearing the recordings before this with Ibex/Wreckage you can hear just how high the timbre in his voice was. either these recordings are all slightly sped up or cigarettes really took his vocal timbre down a notch. either way, what a beautiful rendition of this song from a beautiful person.
Oh wow, this is stunning.I would never of said this was Freddie singing,if I had not known before hand.He could turn his voice to anything he wanted to sing, this is why he is one of a kind and no one ever could get anywhere near him.He is a perfect legend in his own right.I love this man so much, could you imagine if he was still here with us,he is perfection. When god made Freddie,he knew he had made one in a million,so he broke his mould.
Very good. Didn't know he sang this. He really was a great, great singer.
Has such a 60s vibe. Love you Freddie.

Freddie was a genius, never knew he called himself Larry Lurex when he made this but changed it to Freddie Mercury just before he formed Queen. The LP of “I can hear music” is very rare and one went quite pricey on eBay recently, as a Queen collector of memorabilia I will get a copy one day. This song is so simular to the beach boys but it is Freddie, you can hear certain parts in the song where his unique voice comes through. Love you Freddie and this is one of my fav songs 👑👑❤️❤️🎹🎤

A little detail: Freddie didn’t change hes name during these songs before the release of Queen 1, Freddie Mercury name was still there however for this song and Going Back he decided to call (a fake name) Larry Lurex because he didn’t want to be famous at that time
