Freak August Summer Storm Hits Ilfracombe Devon
The unusual sight of large over-topping waves in early August during a period of poor weather. A flattish sea earlier in the day quickly changed as the wind switched N/West late afternoon on rising 'Supermoon' spring tides to wreak havoc & inflict damage as people attempted to move cars at high tide.

I’ve watched this video countless times now. I noticed that after pointing out the water coming out of the camper van to the couple. That you very quickly climbed up the steps. Am I thinking right you can read the waves 🌊 I would have been laughing my head off & the camera would’ve been moving all over the place. But you kept it very professional well done sir👍

I lived in Ilfracombe for 25 years and that particular car park is notorious for this kind of thing. Those kids are dicing with death. The year we arrived in the town, the sea took 5 cars clean out of that place down into the rocks 30 feet below!! One of them was never found. If one of them got swept over, there would be no saving them.

We have a car park up here in the Lakes which has great big signs saying 'Floods during high rainfall." Nothing to do with the sea, obviously, but the number of people who just leave their cars and are surprised when they return to see them up to their windows in water is amazing. And worse, who pays for these people? We do, with our insurance premiums.
i find waves very calming...
I wanna live there what a beautiful and scary view 🥰

@@TacticalBetalking about yourself again? 😂
Really surprised the local authority or car park owner didn't close the car park.
Awww the little green Corca getting moved around like it's a toy car
Freak? Or spring tide on a windy day?
Poor cars 😢 I feel really sorry for their owners coming back to find all that damage. 😔 That green car was chucked about all over the place. The beautiful E46 3 Series BMW and that Audi that had a blue badge too 😭. I was in Boscastle the day of the floods in 2004 when all the cars were washed out to sea. We were in the carpark where in happened and for some reason I said let's turn around and go to St Nectans Glen first (just up the hill a mile or so). We then couldn't get there because the river had burst its banks and the footbridge was underwater so we turned back and that's when we discovered all the cars from the carpark we had just been in being washed out to sea. We parked on the headland and watched as helicopters winched people out. I filmed a lot of it on an old camera and have never shared it. I must get it converted to digital as it's the 20th Anniversary next year. x

The irony of this comment.
Should we wonder at reports of youngsters losing their lives in seaside "accidents"?

Aren't most of those accidents to do with tombstoning or being drunk? There's a wall there, the kids are having fun - like I would have done at that age, able to assess that the wall protects them from being swept away.

It doesn't protect them from being sent crashing into the rear wall. If a car which is a lot stronger and heavier than a human body can be moved and damaged it's not going to do a kid much cop. Did you not see the transit bumper side as well the Corsa.
