As I am gearing up for the Freak Guitar Camp, picking up stuff for the campers to check out, I whipped together a short tune in 31/4 to hear how the Catalyst would work in a musical context after the guys at Line6 told me they lack test drives of the amp on an 8-string guitar.
Noisy rhythm explanation (from my car) at the end.

Thank you for the explanation at the end! From the deepest depths of my 'id' (or 'heart'). I commented here earlier and then deleted my question because you fully explained it at the end of the video. I re-watched the first half many times without making it to the conclusion, and I asked my question prematurely. 8 + 3 + 3 + 8 + 3 + 3 + 3 is the master's cheat sheet/special sauce indeed. I've been mulling over the possibility of doing rudimentary 'konnakol' covers of popular songs. It wouldn't be true konnakol because I'm not really all that good. It would be matching stroke for stroke on guitar with the syllables coming out of my mouth. Which for simplicity's sake and at my current level of skill would mainly be 'takadimi takajunu' 'takeda' 'ta di' and 'takedatikeda' (6, which I may have made up myself but I'm not sure). I'm thinking about starting with Dethklok's Thunderhorse. I only mention this because your lessons have been making me feel more confident! Perhaps enough to teach one day. Far in the future. Cheers and thanks again!
