When I first heard this, I though it was Beethoven. Then I spent ages wondering where it could have come from, because I knew all the scherzos from Beethoven's symphonies. I do believe this may have been modelled after the one from Beethoven's Seventh; the style of both the scherzo and the trio match up pretty well.

13:00 the symphony is playing this part a bit slow. This should be played fast , with a light step. Had to resort to extreme measures, x1.25. The sound quality is good - even at higher speed. I resumed normal speed in the next movement.

It seems extreme to change tempo of a piece, apparently comparing the tempo to another conductor's choice on a different recording. I record Direct TV programs in order to fast forward thru commercials. But speeding the tempo to match another conductor's choice seems petty. I just enjoy different artist's performances.

Small, of course, when compared to the gigantic and visionary last one. nevertheless, in line with Haydn and Mozart tradiditon, havig successfully herd Beethoven's crucial innovations and even some Italian inflexions (herd fo rom a long distance...), thiis is bt y no ways a "little" syphony, but a masterwork in a language of its own.
