I haven't seen this live performance before. Frank never played this the same way twice. Brilliant stuff Great guitar solo too.

Very cool ! Not me favorite song but live Zappa is always entertaining. This is one of the few shows we have sadly. Later in the show the "audience participation" is absolutely crazy. Props to the amazing drummer, Chad Wackerman. Nice reaction and lyrics analysis :)

Zappa's voice was affected by an injury. A "fan" threw him in the orchestra pit! Luckily he bounced back fast. He never drank or used drugs except cigs and coffee. He worked constantly 🚬☕🎸

Zappa absolutely did drink, albeit socially, but the notion that he never drank is absolutely ridiculous and can be easily disproved.

And if he did then maybe just a tiny bit we talking about any kind of drugs I'm thinking of shrooms or lsd forsure but definitely a genius that was too focus in music and not really interested in other bs drugs

Dig FZ song Stevie's Spanking. It's about 🎸Steve Vai and a groupie, features Vai vs FZ on lead guitars

Every tool of pain. The original release of this song is on the album Zoot Allures, which I recommend. It has a woman screaming and is more dark than this live version 🎸😵

This song first appeared on the 1976 album "Zoot Allures". Since Zappa was influenced by multiple sources, jazz being one of them, it wouldn't be unusual for him to have a saxophone in some of his works. I like Zappa songs because of the humor, but I not a major fan of his instrumental work. For some reason, the only time I can listen to instrumental music is if it is classical music.

Well FZ had several pieces considered classical, I think. Outrage At Valdez, Yellow Shark, possibly Lumpy Gravy and Civilization Phase 3. He was influenced by Igor Stravinsky and Edgar Varese🎹

I have been listening to Zappa's music since about 1970. I have most of the albums up to about 1983 (and that is a lot!), but I don't like everything - this is one of the few I dislike. But his music is never uninteresting! By the way, the young man screaming in the tastful leopard t-shirt is Steve Vai. I suggest his "Teeth of the hydra" (official video) from last year (40 years later) to be added to your list. It has some Halloween vibes (although instrumental). And the video with his new instrument is entertaining.
