Every interviewer asked the same tired questions as if Frank was from outer space. Yet he was always graceful and extremely polite.

Oh please. Frank cultivated the idea that he was weird his whole life, he loved it. And he was frequently rude to interviewers, and obviously held most of them in disdain.

Dwezil looks like Anakin Skywalker just about to say "You underestimate my power!"

dweezil is an animal on the guitar. i saw him a few years ago

Frank really seems like a nice guy and good father - God bless man.

I love how the Zappas all have the same way of conversing

Great man and great family; everything he created was fantastic!

Frank was one 100 years advanced

their body language shows they are a very close family very attractive children

How could would it be having Frank as a dad? Dweezil was only 13 and he seemed smart beyond his years, as did Moon Unit (who wasn't actually anything like a Val in real life). I'm sure that easygoing artistic environment, coupled with how intelligent he was, had some influence on them as kids.

The zappas are normal its us that are strange

all I can say is ...what a healthy and beautiful family!

Gotta say, Dweezil really beat the hell out of puberty.

I think this woman is weirder than Frank.

First Moon is a very pretty girl. Second Dweezil sounds like his father. Fun people and great music.

And, to think people are still bitching about cuss words today over 30 years later? And how people still usually take satire seriously and miss the point.

I don't know, she seems to at least respect him, unlike a lot of other media outlets at that time.

It's strange because Dweezil has a higher voice now then he seemed to have at that age

I don't see this interview as condescending. I just don't think the reporter has any idea what to think of Frank and his kids. One of the reoccurring theme in many Zappa interviews.

I wish I was older to have witnessed his exploits among the rest of the mediocrity at the time. I think the closest that we get to uniquely weird individuals with the same notoriety in the US would be Marilyn Manson, and he's not even on the same weird wavelength as Zappa.

Barfko-Swill..say no more. You don't need to go hunting all over asking "typical American journalist" questions to understand FZs wit. For gods sake where do the people who feel he is weird spend their day? in the mall, at the office? HAH! those are the freakin weirdest environments known to mankind. RIP Frank, and thanks.

"Weird, weird, weird, weird, weird!" Somehow most people were just too dumb to get beyond that. While it was their loss it also blocked a lot of other people from having access to the enrichment of having Frank in their lives.

Moon was _soooo_ adorable back then. Dweezil had potential, but never filled it because he wanted to be too much like 10,000 other guitarists out there. He should've hung out with his dad a lot more than he did. Nowadays he's just trying to cash checks meant for his dad with that insufferable "Zappa plays Zappa" show of his.
