Frank Zappa Interview December 1971 following the infamous Montreux Casino Fire
Frank Zappa's December 4th 1971 show was interrupted by 'some stupid with a flare gun', who burnt the Montreux casino to the ground. Deep Purple were there that night as guests of Claude Nobs, from which their legendary song 'Smoke On The Water' is taken.

I was 16 years old and I was there! Frank was just the coolest guy and a brilliant composer and musician. I miss him.

This fire occurred exactly 22 years before Zappa died (12/4/71 - 12/4/93). Odd that three of the most significant events in his life - (1) his birth, (2) the fire, (3) the attack that crushed his larynx, momentarily paralyzed his arm, and left him wheelchair bound for many months - as well as his death all occurred in the month of December.

Just as odd as a lot of things happened to him on any other month of the year. In other words, not odd at all.
If that fire wasn't bad enough, 6 days later, during a concert in London, an audience member got mad jumped up on stage and threw him off. He ended up in a wheelchair for over a year!

I heard that the injuries he sustained from that incident led to even more health problems later in his life.

It’s cuz europeans have other stuff to do besides staring into the tv set. Multitasking, you know? Tv is background noise while you’re doing chores. And you can’t really read background noise.
