Menzter Zane etc awesome physiques but arnie was always going to win and his body was off the charts too.personally I would say Menzter won for me anyway.great physiques all round .

These physiques are much healthier than they are now .yes steds where definitely used in this era but nowadays they are off the scale with dosages/stacks etc .bodybuilders nowadays are not evolving like the apes lol they are simply increasing their stacks .I would even say way back they where more focused and trained harder.

And One year later Samir Banouth won with flying colours👍💪

Imagine if Lou trained like a madman from 76 to 81 and came into the 81 or 82 show even better and more proportioned than his 92-93 shape? We'd have seen the reign of Louie for at least a couple of years!

i think they had as zane has 3 in his home gym and he won in 77 78 79

Samir who was fourth i think should have won this.Even head judges said, like weinberger and roger schwab. Zane was off, but even so he was superior to dickerson.Dickerson was actually better in 1980 and 1981, he could have won both those and it would have been less controversial.

Chris was small but very symmetrical. Even more so than zane who was known for it

Dickerson was small. Had funny lower chest- looked like a wheel on the bottom. No biceps when flexed. Nothing that draws your attention, but had a good personality and good manners. That’s why good manners are important as well.

Compared to today yes maybe ,but the juice is much higher and stacking has increased nowadays compared with back then so there is definitely a more freaky and larger look nowadays.

@WFSmith for all his BB intellect, he is a p*ick. He felt entitled to win it. In an interview with John Hansen he was still bitter about it 35 years after. Nasty guy. Noone likes a sore loser. Dickerson didn't have the best upper body but even compared to him, Zane looks way small.

none of the 3 looked good at all. viator had no chest. Dickerson and Zane had 17 inch arms.

Zane stated that he retired after this because he saw the future of bodybuilding going to size over symmetry, and admitted he could not get the size that would be needed.

@@markszarold You’re right, he placed 4th. However, he said that he saw the shift to “big” (specifically, Lee Haney) being the new “normal” in judging, and he knew that he could not achieve that kind of size. Being cut and with great symmetry was no longer going to be enough, so he called it a career and retired.

It looks like any young guy with decent genetics could get to that level of development with a few years of dedicated natural training.. Of course that may be easier said than done I know guys who claim they have been working out for years and have almost nothing to show for it..
