Have you missed final dialogue with Frank, where Crow's character specifically states how Frank is dangerous because of what he represents - a colored sucessful businessman(even though the business is criminal)? It was precicely used to highlight discriminatory spirit of that time, and what contributed to the demise of the Frank

@@TheDeezy250 the line was completely necessary. you suspect this is his attitude with his earlier reaction, but he bites down his arrogant opinion - but when pressed for more, he reveals his true colours crudely. the movie shows the corruption of the US govt through 1 persons prejudice - he is meant to represent the system that russel crow is fighting
The sad truth is that the real Richie Roberts didn't end his career nearly as law-abiding as he was in these times.

@@bobarcher5837 yes without a doubt Frank's role is exaggerated in the movie. Or to put things in a better perspective, other drug dealing organizations were still far bigger than his. However, Frank Lucas was still one of the main drug suppliers in New York City and as I stated before, his heroin was purer than the average.

@@jsn23nc Yeah, in the movie. In real life Frank wouldn't have talked that way to Nicky in a million years. Frank Matthews and Nicky Barnes were the real bosses, Lucas was just hyped up by the movie, he was nowhere near as smart or eloquent as Denzel portrayed him.
