As a European, the only thing I knew of president Nixon was the famous line "I am not a crook", incidentally of course I thought this man is a crook, but after seeing all of these interviews, Ive found very much a new respect and admiration for him, God rest his soul

I actually said, “you just can’t be really as effective in a debate when you’re debating a woman,” and I regret how that sounded. I meant it as a compliment. You know, I made great strides in the Title IX, and so forth and so on, and while I’m proud of that, I’m not proud of that comment. Incidentally, I should say that the women in Iran at this moment have a duty to oppose their government and the United States should back them all the way

I greatly appreciate not only the interview but also the side chat at the very beginning when they weren't "officially" taping but nevertheless those moments were captured. It is amazing to see someone like Richard Nixon deciding what might be a good story to tell during the interview, and then simply waiting for the cue to begin, and then asking about if S.O.B. can be used, and then waiting again. It's like you are really there with him in that studio.

I was 15 when Nixon left office. Too young to share the Political beliefs of those who despise this man. I have nothing but fondness and respect for The President. This series of interviews is priceless. (those of you who didn't live during his Presidency could not comprehend the level of hatred towards this man by the Left. Trump-hate, although strong, pales in comparison)

1962 here also. I remember as a child we used to go to the beach. People brought radios and listened to the Watergate hearings. Then one day I happened to turn on the TV and by chance cought Nixon's resignation speech live as it happened. A historical moment. I felt bad for him. You can respect the man while not agreeing with everything he did.

I know that I was younger and it was easier to rebel but I miss the boundaries of an earlier time. We needed president Nixon at the time and beyond. No slight on president Ford, but president Nixon would have changed our history between 1974 and '77. What if Reagan had succeeded Nixon in 76. Ford was a caretaker, not a mover...I do respect president Ford. I don't disrespect president Carter, but he too was a caretaker president also...

@@thomasmassey322 Kissinger's choice was disastrous. Nixon was a bad president. He formulated the gold standard, deepened U.S. involvement in Vietnam, and then withdrew. He contributed to the overthrow of the Shah in Iran, leading to the current regime. It's tragic to see the U.S. becoming subservient to the Zionists. Nixon was among the worst, with many mistakes made by various presidents.

I love the unthinkingly Olympian way he feels able to answer questions from the male interviewer about the effectiveness of women as politicians and their supposedly fundamental/essential natures in various respects. I suspect Nixon was never asked in any interview "do you think men can be just as effective as politicians as women"? It all starts from the unquestioned background premise, simply taken as granted, that men are the norm and the standard against which women's fundamentally different natures should be compared and judged (by men). But if you can't even see the background premise in the first place..........

Nixon was a goofy looking guy. The ski-jump nose and beady eyes. None the less, I would have voted for him, given the alternatives. My parents voted JFK. But there was a world of difference between Democrats of 1960 than the past 40 years, especially today. Today Democrats are leftist lunatics. Back in 60, JFK and Nixon were not politically far apart.

Granted, there are other House Democrats out there that could be classified as overtly leftist--Ilhan Omar is one example--and Democratic affiliates like Bernie Sanders do exist, but they are a firm minority. The party is and has been led by the likes of Joe Manchin, Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, The Clinton's, Obama, Kamala Harris; all of whom can fairly be categorized as neo-liberal. Housers like AOC have little power because neoliberalism and moderation are founding pillars of today's Democratic Party.
