Sort of. He held public office for all but an eight year period between 1947 and 1973, to include six years in Congress, eight years as Vice President and five and a half years as President. Barack Obama was more of a Washington outsider than he was; as were Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton. And his eight years out of office included a run for Governor of California (the only time he ran for state office) and his 1968 run for the Presidency. Thus, it is very hard to characterize him as other than a professional politician.

@@johnries5593all factual. However, his thinking in general and specifically about his beliefs that govt should be restrained and limited were what still made him an “outsider” despite his length of proximity to govt service.

The frequent interruptions by the producer/director/crew (whoever it was) are ridiculous and unacceptable. Gannon and Nixon were very patient after the their flow was interrupted so many times.
