France & Spain on Adventure Bikes - Trans Euro Trail (Yamaha T7, KTM 790R)
Here we go again! It's a long one so put the kettle on :)
A 6-day blast through France and northern Spain with my dad, including the TET and exploring the Pyrenees for the first time. Needless to say, we didn't have enough time to explore things properly (as much as we would have loved to) but we went on the trip anyway, and I'm really glad we did!
My dad had originally planned this trip with Uncle Paul in 2020, but, due to Covid, the trip was postponed each year thereafter. When 2022 rolled around, Uncle Paul couldn't commit to the trip anymore, so I bought his ferry ticket off him. So, instead of having a cool, best-friend-for-life, uncle-like figure to enjoy the trip with, my dad had me; his annoying son.
It was a very special trip - one I will cherish forever. I'm really fortunate, and grateful, to have experienced this with my dad. Get out there folks!

On days like these Quincy Jones - good choice 👍🏻
Great job, what a tunnel that was. Will be looking that one up!
Hours of editing involved here, but the thing that sticks in my mind and makes me smile is the echoing cockerel. Well done sir. 🙃

ha! not many comment about the almighty cockerel.. haha thanks for viewing.. hope you enjoyed :)
I really enjoyed that. Brilliantly put together and very watchable
Again, a very slick production and with just the right amount of music. And being lucky enough to be able to do something like this with your dad,,,something that you will never forget. I travelled almost the same route ( in reverse ) in 2019, solo on my 690 Enduro...this brought back many happy memories from a very beautiful part of Spain 👍

Amazing experience; i like the spanish side of the pyrenees , drove it multiple times with BMS1200GSA and recently also with a Porsche. I was wondering which road you had from Torla Ordesa to Santander? the portion with endless curves.

I looked it up, it's the N-260a, in the video it's east to west but I think you're winning either way.
Nice!!! Thx for this video! I visited the spanish pyrenees 20 years ago by a sport-enduro. Now since 3 years I drive a T7 too (and my son and a friend of mine also) and we did TET in balticum and france. Maybe this year TET in the pyrenees. It seems that you are a very experienced offroad-driver. At 20:00 i recognized in a downhill section with some speed, that the offroad-modus was'nt activated. You drove with ABS on?????

Hey Michael! Glad you liked the video. That must have been a great trip all those years ago - I wonder how much of the trip you could ride again if the trails are still open? The parts of the Pyrenees TET we rode were basically just normal roads in dry conditions, so I just left the ABS on. A Suzuki Bandit could have done it! Wales was a different story, I kept ABS off for pretty much the entire trip!
Love the videos man, really well filmed and put together, hopefully gonna be hopping on a T7 myself and getting around Europe. Just wondering what the paniers you had on yours were and your thoughts on them, cheers.

Nice trip and nicely made video! Thanks for that. Was wondering, did you do anything to your suspension? Since you ride quite a high pace (at the start of the video at least) and you ride tet routes with camping gear on the back. Any adjustments needed or was stock fine?
@mattie_world
Жыл бұрын
Hey! Thanks :) Just stock suspension, it's really soft for the enduro stuff but lovely for road trips, i just left it how it is!
Hello and thank you for sharing, just to have an idea, what can be the approximate budget for a week trip like this? is good to listen to the engines and not loud music.

it can be as cheap or expensive as you like! i have no idea how much we spent... the ferry was £450 but other than that it was just petrol, accommodation and beers :-)
MUCH more enjoyable than wet welsh rocks eh 🙂

How much of the TET did you do ? How did the tyres hold up 😊

Not a great deal of TET, maybe 200 miles. We definitely did more road than trails. My tyres were pretty worn before we even left haha, I just couldn't be arsed to change them. They're shot now, no bite at all, but they'll be okay for road use for the time being :D
Out of interest what time of the year did you go? Thanks

September :)
31 seconds in, I am looking at your planned route down, I am planning to do the Pyrenees in late September this year, but will be travelling from Jersey to Saint Malo, then down the West coast to Bordeaux, then drop down into Spain then across the Pyrenees to Andorra, then pretty much coming back the way you came down through France, How was your trip down on that route Matt? Looking at camping all the way on my trip, so I am hoping for some campsites around the Pyrenees as I would prefer the security after hearing about bear confrontations with people in the wild, will be on my own, so don't want to take too many risks if I can help it.
@mattie_world
Жыл бұрын
sounds really nice! the trip down through france was just motorways for us, quite dull.. but it got the job done. are there seriously bears in the pyrenees? i don’t think you’d have any issues camping the whole time, might be a bit tricky to wild camp on the flat sections mid france but if you don’t mind hunting a campsite every evening you’ll be fine 👍🏼 worth thinking about though: bnbs in spain are sooooo cheap, once you get into spain the accommodation & breakfasts are probably nearer the price of a campsite + your own breakfast in france

@mattie1da thanks Matt, yeah there's over 100 brown bears 🐻 around the Pyrenees, jogger was killed in Italy last week by one 😳 so will take care when camping.

@@BeanieBiker_AutisticRider I had no idea! I don’t know how bears in europe behave around humans, I’m living in NJ/PA in the states at the moment and the bears here very rarely actually attack humans.. they behave somewhat like deer do in the UK, unless provoked.. As I understand it, they’re mainly just looking for food or protecting their young. Perhaps a scent-proof bag for your food would be a good option + some bear spray just incase?
