    Jess's shots of the young roses reminded me how the stark, rough, windy, dry and uncertain climate in the low and high deserts plays havoc with plants, even the native vegetation. We've been in the high desert for a year and have observed how the winter dessicated and froze some shrubs, vines and perennials in pots. 2/3rds of the pots will need to be repotted...they are big pots.

  • @davidwatson3921
    @davidwatson39213 ай бұрын

    You should be adding some bracing between the posts and the top rails. You need these at the corners of the building you are erecting. They should be added so that you can lean a ladder against the poles without them moving when you are on that ladder. They also will stop you frame from collapsing in the high winds

    Hopefully you have done lots of research on "line levels" since they are NOT very accurate for a number of reasons. Main one is that the level needs to be in the center of the span you are leveling. Much better/more accurate setting up a "water level. Not very expensive, very simple, and VERY accurate. Put the reservoir in the middle of all of your posts and go around a mark a level line on each post. At any height. Once you have that "base" line, you can measure up or down from it for whatever you need. Look into it. it's cheap and "foolproof" !!! Level, plumb, and square are most important at this stage. If wrong, you will never stop paying the price !!!

    I was thinking you would really benefit from some fast growing,heat tolerant trees or large bushes to set e as wind breaks. I use African sumac which can be 7 ft tall in 2 -3 years and Mexican morning glories that can grow 10-15 ft tall and wide in just a year, because they both grow ridiculously easy and the Mexican morning glories provide beautiful flowers every day for 8-10 months out of the year and all of the pollinators love them. A lot of people don't like these, because they can be invasive, but they have been invaluable in building our microclimates around out home. We have birds singing all day long in our yard. I'm in zone 9.5b according to sunset magazine zone chart. If you would like starts or seeds let me know. I'm on the west side of the superstition mountain range

    Maybe in the near future erect wind breaks? Trees would be good but I wouldn’t know what could survive in your area so I won’t make suggestions. 😊 A fence with open gaps so you don’t lose all your view but slow the wind a bit. You know best of course. Of all the builds I’ve been involved in and what I’ve seen, this is a tough DIY project. Keep it up and don’t get discouraged. 😁

Save the rest and bag them in the frig. To use on coals in my Pit fires > for grilling and smoking 👉👉 I use dried onions for so many things. I love my picante sauce made from them as well YUM > I love Onion Bread YUM > I got my new OVEN PUT IN and all the new wood trim around it I really thought a 24" oven would be to small. But its NOT! ITS PERFECT 👌👌 I had a 30" oven in there.. It was way to big. Just wasted space

I put in rugosas in fall, or spring, I don't remember. They are still going. I hope yours do well too! This wind is miserable. Right when i started watching this video a hailstorm hit. The weather is wild this spring! But I'm glad it's cooler than the past few years.
