The legendary Nobuhiko Obayashi. So many great films, particularly The Discarnates (1988), which has been recently successfully remade as All of Us Strangers with Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal. I also love Exchange Students, a body-swap comedy about teenage boy and girl.

@@shougokawada8491 couldn't get into The Discarnates much unfortunately. Didn't resonate nearly as much with me as All of Us Strangers did. I'm not even a fan of Hausu. I can appreciate his unique vision but His Motorbike, Her Island is the only one I've connected with.

Classic Letterboxd lineup: Hollywood Classic, Indie Classic, F***ed up movie from Europe, favorite from Childhood.
I love whale rider. ❤ That is such a masterclass of how to write narratives centring girls and women. Not patronizing, real, heartfelt and strong, yet feels so simple like a Aesop’s fable. My childhood fave, just a beautiful culture.
