Some of the ephemera would be great for crafters like me. We make junk journals. Stamps, especially cancelled out come in handy. We also use broken costume jewelry and beads, old paper, old books of ANY KIND and condition. I would love those old business cards and receipts too. Oh yeah, and any old fabric trims, etc.. I would be interested in some of those things myself.

I remember when my late Aunt died, the family wondered if she had any money to bury her? Large unit of 5+ large drawers, had money in everything!, so we had to go through everything with a fine tooth comb, result £4,500+ cash and a bank account with £3,000+. She lived life very simply, due to having Menengitis as a teenager, and shared the house with her maiden Aunt, who passed before her! Also I remember coins and stamps too!! Quaint 🥰🥰

There was money shoved here and there, it really forced me to go through EVERY receipt and envelope...it took a long time to clear everything out. Most people would have dumped everything into a trash can. I even found a stack of love letters that my dad had written to my mom while stationed in Okinawa during WWII.

Thrift Trader-I remember when I was growing up in the rural south that people would leave money in an envelope in their mailbox with a note for a book of stamps. I agree with Marcy, I know WAY BACK when PaPa was a "kid" like me, often we got Postage Due notices, or needed to mail something and lacked a stamp we'd tape money to something, or put it in an envelope for the carrier. and an aside to the stamps stuck together, place them in a bowl of HOT water to release the adhesive and dry them face down on a piece of glass or an UNUSED Cookie sheet, dabbing them with a paper towel will speed their dry time. Then they can be used with a glue stick to adhere them on outgoing mail.

We even did this in the 1970's and 1980's in Minnesota...taping money for a stamp or putting money in an envelope leaving it in your mailbox. Or if you had postage due the mail carrier would put the amount due in a small envelope and we'd put the money in it for them. I'm 49 yrs old.

People that are saving it for occasions., like holidays or birthdays. I have a storage unit for my finds. She must have passed away or become ill to allow her stuff to be sold. I’m sure she knew where every single thing was.

My sister in law lived on a rural route in Oklahoma and years ago she would tape money to paper to pay for postage of a letter she was sending if she didn’t have a stamp.

two homes I lived out in the country I would have mail to go out but no stamps so I would put change in an envelope and leave for the mail carrier. she or he would then put the stamps on and send on it's way. The last time I was able to do that was in mid 1980's. After that they would no longer honor that method.

I'm a rural mail carrier in Kentucky and I still take care of my customers that put change out with the envelope. I deliver like I wish my mail was delivered to me.😆

These kind of shows always make me so sad what are people who had to abandon or lose their belongings. I've struggled to hang on to mine in storage for several years not having a real good place to live so I know what it's like constantly you feel a little sick to your stomach I thinking of losing everything you've worked your whole life to get but not having any place to put it

Bobbi Wilhite I read your comment and had to reply because I’ve lost one myself and could lose another any day now. It’s a horrible feeling and I hope you can find some stability and peace soon ❤️
