That sounds fantastic. I played Eric's Blackie in the 1980s, he used our rehearsal facility at Shepperton studio's UK, as did many other top artists like the Stones and Black Sabbath. My friend was his guit tech (for over 30 years) and asked me to play a guitar whilst he messed with a guitar synth (after rehearsals) that Roland had given Eric. He passed me Blackie and plugged it up. Some awful noises were happening and couldn't appreciate its real sound, but I was totally lost and on cloud 9. The set up was just spectacular and seemed to play itself, didn't need my right hand. Then I realised his 59 LP Burst was there amongst the 10 guitars sitting in a semi circle, so HAD to play that too. I was extremely fortunate✌️🇬🇧
You've got incredible control of the guitar. The bends, the feedback, the subtleties. Great guitar, great playing.

Man, you’re really the kind of player that makes me immediately pick up my guitar. The tones, the gear, everything.

Love hardtails. I have a 74 hardtail that I got for my 12th birthday in 1976. It was in the store, for two years, still brand new; nobody wanted it. It's not as cool as this 57, obviously, but it's still my favorite guitar.

I have a 74 hardtail, as well. They are great guitars!
Congrats on finding a true gem. We all know you will cherish it and make it sing for another 60 years!
There is just something so classy about a black 50's fender Stratocaster with a white pick guard
Thanks for the nod to the old reissue Strats of 1982. My '57 reissue, also in black, is from 1983, made at the Fender Fullerton factory. Sadly, the necks from these early-early reissues are nothing like true 1957 guitars. Fender went with what they thought would be much more accepted for the '80s. But all those reissues from that time (Tele, Strat (2), P-Bass (2) and Jazz Bass) were definitely iimportant guitars as Fender-CBS finally acknowledged that players wanted old looks and features from the classic years.
Matthew, love your passion, presentation, playing and vintage content. Many thanks.
Another great find Matthew! Always enjoy watching you vintage gear videos. Thanks for sharing!
Some of my favorite guitar tones on KZread (and ever). Sounds great, keep it up 👍
Good stuff man. Great quality as usual. Love the sounds and the playing. Really enjoyable channel.
New to the channel and love it already. The thing I take away most from your videos is how much your love for SRV shines through your playing. Thanks :)
Awesome as usual Matt! Really great tones, nice and chimey!
You never cease to amaze! It's good that you find these treasures. I'm sure they are in good hands plus we get to hear them.!! Can't wait to see inside this great old guitar. This thing is one year older than me . It's a real treat that you take the extra time to show this. Thanks again!

Sick guitar and sick playing . One of my favorite KZread channels . Can't wait to hear your music!
Oh man, exactly what I needed after a long night of work. 7am, most people rising & shining, but I'm headed off to bed! No rest for the wicked! Great playing as usual, Mathew, and a beauty of a strat from long ago..I love all of it! Keep doing your thing, kid, you make me proud to play guitar.
Has the exact same sound as the "double trouble" live recording in 1978. Epic.
Man I love your tone. Somehow you manage to wring a lot of feeling out of even the simple strummed chords. Great find, and looking forward to more videos on this one.
the overtones ringing out at 7:50 are so sweet
Sounds fantastic!! I'm impressed! And your playing, like always, is top notch!
Awesome sounding guitar. What makes it even better is somebody who knows what they're doing when they're playing it, you demoed it perfectly
Always amazing listening to your playing, that wonderful tone...Thanks truly for your inspiring job
Dave's Guitar Shop '57 Strat in in Taos Turquoise has the desert sand primer coat that you can see. Clapton's body was '56 with '56 plastics, which is why his knobs and covers are still white. Yours appears to have the newer formulation covers (probably with more butadiene in the ABS mix) and leftover "'56" knobs. There was a Strat featured on Norman's Rare Guitars channel recently with the same thing.
Another great find Matthew! Love these 🤘🏽
Man I've watched countless M Scott videos he's great guitarist especially blues. And those amps are just to die for!
Another deserving acquisition to the Matthew Scott collection.
What a glorious thing, outstanding playing and tone as usual Matt
Great video as always Matthew. What a find! What a beauty! That bridge tone! 🔥
Matthew, the TONE of that Guitar is Outstanding, You are a Lucky Man to find this, When you played Hendrix at the beginning of the video, It Just Had That Jimi Sound, Clapton always played a Hard Tail, He still does, He is not a Trem Guy, I can go on For awhile about it but , Thanks for this Video here, Cousin Figel
Boy, that guitar sounds SO sweet. Who even needs more than three pickup positions? Beautifully full, round tonality in each position. Rgds.
That Cocaine part just brought a stupid smile to my face. Stellar playing as usual, Matthew
VERY nice indeed. You always find the best stuff man, geez. It should stay in-tune just fine!
I find that I like your videos before I even watch them. You find some great pieces of history and do them justice with your amazing playing.
I'm not a vintage guy, I'm not even a strat guy, I don't like old rock or blues yet I enjoy the hell out of your playing, your passion and love for your craft, gear and music. Stellar work and thank you!

Stunning guitar and tone. Almost as stunning as the playing!
Beautiful guitar, great content, another mighty fine video Matthew, thanks for sharing 🎸🤠
Man what a special guitar, sounds better than it should. Very soon someone will notice just how good your playing really is.
Absolute dream guitar. Incredible tones you got there.
Amazing tone!! Thank you!!!
This channel always makes me feel less guilty of buying another amp or guitar instead of a new car
what a clear, glassy sound!
The more I watch Matthew's video, the stronger my desire to buy new strat becomes
What a gem! It sounds beathtaking. Thank you for this wonderfu presentation.
The contours are so deep , sounds awesome Matthew.
"He had a 57 Strat, plays behind his back". Lyrics from song on first Foreigner album. And black is The Color. My 1st Strat a 74 sunburst was a hardtail. Bought in 1976 for $300.
love to see someone who appreciats fenders instaid of always a gibson fenatic . love your vids , keep them coming thanks
Man, that tone is suburb AF. I'm happy for you for finding this. You should be happy for me too. I bought a Kingfish signature Fender telecaster deluxe today and it is absolutely glorious in every single aspect. To digress, that strat is an utter dream and I'm incredibly jealous, but not in a bad way.

Wow! Seriously Matty where do you find these Gems 💎 Love your work mate always entertaining! Your playing and sound is awesome 👏
I liked your playing so much while i was listening on my phone that I plugged it into my monitors. Nice work.
Nice find Matthew . I was born in 1957 like that Strat...Sounds GREAT
Whoah Matthew... Around the 7 minute mark, with the bridge position, truly sublime...
A friend of mine has a refin Black 57. One of the best sounding Strats I’ve ever played. I wanted to tell you, another friend that I’ve lost touch with had a 1958 Pink Sunburst Strat, (he moved back to Chicago years ago). It was a special order from Fender a girl originally ordered. About the ugliest finish I ever saw. It was black on the outside edge, then went to pink and then white in the center. It was one of a kind and I’m sure it would be worth a fortune now. He bought it in the late 70’s real cheap, I think $500 back then. I was a Vintage Guitar Dealer so I’ve had many pre-CBS Strats. I have a few vintage Strats left but I’m not in such great health and don’t Gig or perform anymore. I enjoy your shows and your equip. We’re on the same page.
Its always a pleasure to hear one of these guitars in the hands of someone who can really get the best out of it. I can play guitar but Mathew is at one with it. There will never be another guitar made In the original Fullerton California factory or on the original machinery and tooling. You can buy all the Fenders you want but it will never be the same. Leo Fender was indeed a genius
Sounds fabulous!
Thanks,Mathew. Loving it
AMAZING tone I’m blown away 😮
Nice find. Sounds amazing . Thanks for great demo as always!
Very cool guitar, beautiful tone, beautifully played. Thank you
Great find! Looks great. Sounds Fantastic! 🎸 Super sweet....
That black with the maple neck is so iconic. Excellent find. Thanks for the video.
I prefer the hard-tail Strat option, and this one is a beauty! Can't wait for the inspection video.
HOLY!!! HELL!!!! That is an amazing piece of history!!!
What a cool Fender. Sounds great, and of course, I always love to hear you play too:-). Thanks for sharing.
Magnificent sounding strat wow..great playing
Looking forward to seeing what’s inside. You find wonderful quirky vintage guitar’s. Another winner. I’m digging “Where you Been” Thanks Matthew. ✌🏼👍🏼
Sounds and looks great. I hope you will be using some of your great vintage guitars including the strat's on your upcoming album. Looking forward to your album, I hope the album is not overly worked and processed and allows for the true tone and sounds of your playing and guitars/vintage amps to come through as they do on your You Tube video's. From my point of view some of the best albums I have heard are the ones that have been recorded with a raw live feel; mainly recorded with room mics. For example the latest ZZ Top album called RAW.
Absolutely amazing!
I usually don't care for Strat tones but damn! Sounds stellar.
Great tone and sound. Love the way you play.
A fortune find! A beautiful beast! Sounds great even without my headphones
Beautiful guitar and playing as usual. I really dig hardtails.

I have a 2021 Squire stop tail. It is thin and it is cheap and I LOVE it! Don't get me wrong, I love tremolo.....but there is just something special about a stop tail. I should put new pickups and new tuners, but I didn't. I just did a set up and worked the frets and fingerboard, and I put a small pin-up sticker on it. Boom!!!!

I usually don't like the bridge position on a Strat, but wow that sounded great! I don't like a floating trem. I only like the 6 screw and then I deck it. I've always wanted a stop tail Strat.

Beautiful guitar Matt! And I absolutely love the new single video! Keep pickin’…
Looks great. Sounds even better!
Lovely! It has that quintessential upper midrange bark of a classic maple board Strat.
Guitar sounds amazing Matthew!
Great video. Thanks for the work.
Great guitar. Love hardtails. Nice find my friend!
super cool! love the bridge
Another awesome find, thank you for sharing!!
Awesome guitar! Cant wait to see your next video!
What a gr8 find Mathew!
Clapton's Blackie was basically a blocked tremolo. So basically a Hardtail Strat. Beautiful guitar. I'd love to have something like that. 57 is my favorite year. Enjoy.
Your stratocaster videos always pleases me.
