Good on you Basia for returning that ear ring. It sure was a beauty, most likely 14K and if so it must have been heavy to hang that glob of gold on your ear. Enjoyed the hunt as always. Keep up the great work! See ya Next time! O' and one more thing you might try is hunting the cuts on the beach just below the high bank of sand or around where the shells are gathering and the sand is dark in color, that's where the gold is in most cases.

Hi Bevy, yeah, pretty cool, 50's at night, 70's during the day. At the coast it's almost always cold. The beach attire ranges from coats to bathing suits (not sure how they are not cold). Thanks for coming along to that beach!

The Oregon coast is almost always cool and windy, makes for great kite flying. The surf to me seems to always be a bit ruff and cold. I last visited the Oregon coast two years ago at Lands End Beach it was a bit nippy but I had fun did a little metal detecting too.

Its actually part of Cannon Beach, just a section of Cannon Beach that's next to the Lands End Hotel, so we just call it Lands End Beach so we know what section of the beach we were heading to.

Hi, yes, definitely a cool place. In low tide you can see all the marine life in those pools of water.

The west coast beaches look so different than our east coast. All those rocks in the water, mountains, all the tree logs strewn all over the beach..... Sometimes people stop me to search for something they just lost in the sand (keys, jewelry). Other times just to ask if I found an item they lost. Great timing for sure for that earring! Giving back is such a great feeling! Have a great new week

Cold water and cold air, not sure how some of the people out there were in their bathing suit! We spent 2 weeks with Natalie & Danny, working on their landscaping. Hi, no kids toys laying around. The earring rang up gold, no markings at first look over, was planning on checking it more thoroughly later. So, I really don't know the gold Karat. She was so thrilled she got it back and I was excited about all of this!

Yes, it was a special moment for both of us! The water on NC beaches is 85 degrees, like bath water! The air temperature is hot!

Hi Tim, no other detectors out there, just me. Yes, she was so hopeful as she approached me and so excited when I pulled out that earring! So this was gold #2 from that beach, I had it for about 25 minutes! This experience was worth more than any gold!

A Viking Hoard of Silver was found on a cousins farm by a metal detectorist a few years ago, With coins of a Viking king that history never knew about. I get a Thrill out of finding stuff the value of which makes no difference :) to me ( Silverdale Viking hoard ) In the uk :)
