Wow, that's a nice fossil bed. Even the closed clams with no calcite showing are nice display specimens. But the calcite is exquisite. All the stuff I've found on my last couple of trips to Florida were sparse - mostly in large piles made by the highway road crews. So I did get good material, but a lot of broken tips on the crystals. Awesome that you're able to pull them right out of the matrix where they're still pristine!

how do you know where to dig? how deep do you need to go in the very center of Florida to get deep enough to where it used to be ocean millions of years ago?

Killer finds, these calcite clams have on my radar for a couple years now, I plan when I finally get to visit Florida that I go rockhounding for these calcite clams!

What I wouldn’t do to get my hands on one of these❤ Woooooah! Sadly I’m in a wheelchair and lost both my legs 3 years ago so going rock/crystal hounding isn’t something I can do so it suck’s to miss out on so many amazing pieces. Love it Anthony 😊❤

I plan on going on a 2 week trip to Florida the beginning of April and was wondering if you have a recommendations for going for calcite clam places? And another question would you be interested in collaborating on a video? I plan to try and and collect fossil like sharks tooth and bone, agatized coral, and of course calcite clams, but I am still in the research and planning phase.

I'm in nw florida too. I've looked in limestone formations on the chipola and appalachicola rivers with no luck. It is in the florida caverns state park if you just want to view it though.
