I went gem mining in Boone for $14.99 bucket and it had a 3.2 carat emerald in it. I had to go to 5 jewelers before I found one that could cut a rock that big. Estimated value $900
Your kids will always remember the fun adventures. Thanks for sharing

And that ladies and gentlemen is what this is all about. Not the value of the rocks. The time and memories spent with the family. That's the real value.
Awesome haul, looked like a whole lotta fun, thanx for taking us along.

$2500 for a seeded 55 gallon barrel? I certainly don't begrudge them the fun and experience for them and the kids. It seems everyone had a great time.

I've not really seen any gems yet, just quartz and fossils, which are fun to find but certainly not worth $2500. Best gem mining imo is between Highlands, NC and Bryson City, NC.

There should be some gold in it for that price. Even just a couple nice nuggets make it more exciting and worthwhile
We always love stopping at this place when we go to Pigeon Forge….its become a tradition. But we go for the lesser buckets around $30-60 dollars and still get ALOT of great gems and fossils.
Nice haul….y’all are gonna have an awesome rock garden😊….thanks for sharing

For those concerned about the money….perhaps the family was OFFERED the opportunity to record a video by the gem mine business for a substantially lower cost or perhaps even for free considering the amount of advertising the gem mine would receive from views.

I did a 1k barrel down at mason mountain mine in Franklin NC for my 30th birthday i gave a few things away cuz i couldn't ship it all home lol. Even after giving some away i had like 200lbs shipped and 50 or so in just ruby/sapphire that i brought with me on the plane home 😅 getting through security was hilarious 😂
It gives kids the experience they will always remember

SMF!!! I have "never, ever" done the gem mine before ... never have done a gem mine anywhere! Another great video featuring the whole family ... priceless! Question ... what will you do with all the gems/stones/fossils/arrowheads, etc., that you mined?
One of the things I love and remember about my grandpa was his appreciation of rocks. We collected, polished and decorated with rocks big and small! So many memories of rock shops in Gatlinburg. I bet you both remember the one on the end of the parkway by the Riverhouse.

That’s how most, if not all the gem mines in the area do it. They buy from distributors and fill their buckets. Notice all the buckets in the area are filled with sand rather than dirt. Thanks as always!
Where does this store dig all this stuff up from? What area?
@scottwolak6520
11 ай бұрын
They buy these crystals, fossils and rocks from mines and other places around the world, these buckets are referred to as a salted bucket. In this case the Pigeon Forge Gem Mine already knows what's in the bucket and it's value because they put these buckets together.
We went there today we got the $60 bucket. It was fun all of y’all should go sometime.
This family was asked to feature this bucket. So as well know with features to make it look better which the company did not do as it looked poor is they prefilled it with as i can say with certainty 110% unless you count Noah's flood half that would not be found in TN.
Yup that's a Meg tooth
Glad you had fun. Good looking finds. Love that Jaycee got the tooth. Those arrow heads were beautiful. Btw, did the price include a forklift to load your finds into the Jeep? ;)

It's literally 100 dollars in rocks. For 2500 you could have spent all day out west at the real gem show and got museum specimens. Rather that worthless items stuffed in sand. That amethyst cluster is 20 bux max at any roadside stand...

@@SmokyMountainFamily Oh so because you featured it they prob. *in most cases* prefilled it with items.

Ok....Im trying to be objective here. What is the end game here? What do you do with the rocks that you bought? I mean after all, you DID buy them. I cant see spending that much money on rocks unless you are going to make jewelry out of them or sell them. Im sure it was fun and all of that, but you could spend a lot less and still enjoy your family time. I mean lets face it, your average vacationer couldnt afford that. But I did watch the whole video so that will put a little change in your pocket.

I agree. Seems like such a waste of money for such little reward. But that's the climate we live in. It surprises me to see shark teeth in the same Barrell along with many of the rocks. This is a Barrell of runoff buckets they didn't sell. Shame on Pigeon Forge Gem Mine...
Does that mean you paid $2500. For these rocks?
