easy math flaps + wing = more downforce, less speed (perfect for track usage) no flaps or wing = less air resistance, more speed (perfect for drag races)

They may have only added race mode for cars that do more then move just the spoiler. One car that I think you should try is the 17’ Ford GT as it lowers the suspension a good amount

I think there only using this option for now on the Mercedes Project One so they can see if people will actually use it and enjoy it? But that's my assumption! Remember this is a early build so we might see more of this feature in the future 🤞

This is one of a kind feature ever in racing game history. I wish we can do more like launch control, sport mode, comfort mode, turn on and off traction control with just one button.

It is only a visual trick that applies a different tune to your car. Nothing special. You could do this before in Forzavista now you can do it in game.

Top speed is high aerodynamic. It’s high aerodynamics vs high downforce

if you slow the video down to x0.25, when nick picks the p1 and just a frame before the speedo pops up and for one frame you can see the blacked out sports mode button so maybe it has it but since this is early access they just havent put it in the game yet but only for the cover car

It should just give u a prompt to “engage race mode” on the starting line of races, would feel awesome to the players that engage it and would still give u an option

I believe, for now, that there aren't any other cars with race mode because the game is still only a preview build. I'm sure cars like the P1 and Panamera will eventually be given race/sport mode, but it's only on the Project One for now for the sake of it being a test and seeing how it works

@@nyox999 People keep saying this with many things. Preview build is just a demo, not like an alpha or beta release. Many of these things are finished. I think we will only get a handful of cars with this feature.

@@troy4268 Nah. I think there'll be a lot, just because having one car with a highly requested feature is not gonna go well with people. The reason of it being a "preview" is still a very valid point, as PGG doesn't want all the features being revealed 20 days before the game comes out

so to sum it up for everyone, Race mode makes you much grippier in the corners but will lower your speed, race mode off makes you hella fast but hella boaty if that makes sense

@Random-user I mean it's not like they teach 12 year olds physics in school.A wing to the average 12 year old is that thing you put on the rear of your car to make it look cooler.

Honestly a bit of a dissapointment that racing mode now seems to work exclusively for the AMG One, let's hope they will keep adding this feature to more cars from now on!

I think you can take on & off the roof with convertible cars

ngl this makes me wish the AMG One in the game had the DRS mode like it does in the real world. What that means is that you can have the wing up so you can corner better, but when you're on a straight, you can press a button on the wheel that makes the wing dip down a bit so theres less drag and you can speed up in a race. You can even see it on the steering wheel if you go into the cockpit!

It seems that the race mode is like the project One's version of the convertible roof, so I'd be interested to see if lowering the roof on a convertible has an impact on drag in game

I’d say it likely does. Even in horizon 4 just losing a spoiler makes noticeable difference to handling and with them now having this feature in the game where sports mode affects performance, it’d be weird for convertibles to be left out

I wonder if entering a drag race will default to regular mode since there is less drag and better acceleration🤔

Especially with covid and everything. Like I was expecting if they released FH5 it would just be like FH4 with a new map. But they literally outdid themselves

It’d be nice if you could do either mode in a race. Maybe you’re online racing with a Chiron and you get a race with mostly long straights, it would be cool if you could put the wing down for the whole race to be (even) faster in the straights

The Chiron in FH4 automatically lowers the spoiler when you are doing high speeds, like 300 km/h+, not sure exactly where. Also if you step on the brakes the wing goes up for the airbreak. I don't know if it actually has an effect or if it is just a visual thing.

Can you do a comparison of drifting in FH5 VS FH4? Now that FH5 has drift diffs and tires I wonder if it'll be different, but it should be different.

I'd certainly think it's different. They wouldn't put all those parts in for no reason. (Would they?) I've never been a big drifter but all the new parts have piqued my interest, so I would hope there's a difference, I might actually try it out.

I'm pretty sure they will since the rally parts (suspension & tires) in FH4 made a big difference even when tuned identically to the race/street counterpart. Drift differential is a godsend as I always felt the race diff was a bit limited for drift builds IMO. Fingers crossed.

It's gonna be kinda boring if the Project One is the ONLY car that has race mode in this game

i think the massive rear wing and the flaps one the project one made the car more draggy so removing them increased the top speed and when they are activated the increase the downforce which with common sense gives it better cornering ability

Another interesting thing to note, the wing down mode also has a small trick to danger sign, taking advantage of the raised front : As did the CLR, when the car does get above a certain angle above the ground, the front oes provide lift, and not downforce anymore...

I think the other cars will have race mode switches as it’s only early gameplay however if you look at when he switched into the p1 the button to change was there for a brief second however on the Porsche it wasn’t so I recon it will be on other cars but that it’s just not implemented at the moment. Game is looking stunning tho and cant wait to play with the sweet new sounds

That's been a feature of most racing games for well over a decade

I kinda wanted it to be able to work when you were driving but its still pretty cool

You should do a video where you explore the rest of the map. I know most of the events are focused on the top left corner of the map but it would be nice to see the coast, city, canyon, etc.

Cool little info on the AMG Ones engine, the turbochargers are electronically assisted to reduce or completely eliminate lag. It uses electric motors to spin the turbine if lag is detected.
