Not gonna lie. Most impactful scene in HIMYM. The thing that hurts the most is when they zoom out and show Ted alone in his new building that is the same height as the Empire State (which is his lifelong dream) and just on the other side there's the WWN building where his best friend and the woman he loved (at that time) just got engaged. Because you see at the end no matter how tall that building is or was. What Ted always wanted was another thing entirely. Something that Marshal and Lily already has. Seriously I love the series so much.

and getting back Robin 5 years after the mother died. p/s : until now, I do not know how to respond to the finale, a part of me says it's so realistic it makes sense and another says, wth happened to the character development after all this time this is torture!

Sometimes it is just pure pain watching himym. The nostalgia just kills me and I somehow feel depressed. If a TV series creates feelings like that then you know its more than just a TV series ❤

No matter what, How I met Your Mother is definitely not a knockoff of Friends like some people say. How I met Your Mother is my favorite show of all time and one of the only shows that can make me cry and laugh hysterically in the same episode. HIMYM is a great representation of the ups and down between friends and lover. Long live HIMYM

I was going through a bad period of substance abuse back in 2015-16 and every time I hear this song, I’m taken back to all those nights where I watched this show and felt sorry for myself as I ruined relationships and pushed the girl I had feelings for away. Nobody knew I was in trouble and I kept it that way. HIMYM was the companion that kept me sane and alive and for that I will always be grateful. But this song always reminds me of both how far I have come and how happy I found out I was capable of being.

I still cry at the image of Ted's empty stare out of the window of the building he wanted to build for many many years. He achieved his dreams and was still unhappy. Powerful scene

It was like 5 am when I was watching the finale so I was like half asleep I didn’t notice the hints telling us that Tracy was sick like for example when they went back to the hotel Barney got married at and Tracy said: “what mother would miss her daughters wedding and ted just cried “ but when the shot of Tracy in the hospital bed showed.. my jaw just dropped I wasn’t tired anymore and tears just rolled out like a river...

I didn't mind the finale all too much. It's a painful reminder that even love, in the case of Barney and Robin, doesn't always last. I like that the writers did something original instead of going for a happy ever after. And yes, I was totally rooting for the marriage, I cried during this song.

“It’s just a building.” That line subliminally told how Ted really felt about Robin. That his ultimate goal was always to win her over and make her happy. And building the skyscraper was something big to achieve...however at the end of the day, that didn’t make Robin happy. It was Barney. So if letting Barney propose to her was going to make her happy, he would give up having her as his date to the most monumental thing he achieved in his life at that point. EDIT: I believe the building also symbolized the amount of love and effort Ted put into trying to win Robin over up until that point. Just for her to be called to another building which would be remembered for where she got engaged. Thus why he still stated over and over that his building truly was “just a building” cause it wasn’t good enough if it couldn’t suffice Robin.

This is one of the songs which will make us feel strong in this 2020 situation.. Before, Many of u like me came from seeing HIMYM & especially 'Ted' and fell in love with the song, But now I am one of few who like this song much and relate it with now and started re-watching the series. 'Let ur heart hold fast, for this soon shall pass' - Stay strong & safe people.

Honestly Ted and Robin dont match at all. Ted is the settle down type, while Robin is the opposite. she is always on the move, always traveling, like her name "robin" a migratory bird. Its the reason why she and Barney didnt work out either, near the end, Barney discovered his true-self, he wanted to settle down also, but Robin is always traveling.

I got depressed again when HIMYM ended again.

It was Ted. It has always been Ted. Robin's true love. His love for her is very genuine and unselfish, he always let go of her when she wants to go (travel, work and self/soul searching or even she had a quick thought that Ted's not for him) no matter how it will hurt to him, he just let go. He always made sure that Robin's gonna be happy and not pressured at the end of the day. He sees Robin more than a loved one. He sees Robin as a best friend and family. The way he defines love is the way he lives with true love. "Making your someone happy even if you're being left out." Do not get me wrong and im not saying what between Robin and Barney isn't true. It's just that people change, people changes people, we aren't perfect and lost sometime even for the long time. Lastly, wherever you go, whatever you do, whoever youre with, what's meant to be is meant to be. Divorced? With family? 10 years? 20 years? You're gonna end up with your true love. Timing's a bitch, remember?

loving this comment so much :') I really don't understand why do so many people talk about Ted as an "obsessed" or "clingy" person with Robin when in fact whenever he had to let her go or even encourage her to be with someone else (basically w/ Barney), he did, giving her all his support. And many might say that it wasn't "real support" because deep inside he kept loving her...but...does that really mean we've to blame him? he just couldn't help it, but regardless his own feelings, he put his friendship with Barney first.

HIMYM for life. i cant stop watching it, i have been watching the seasons over and over again. i love it!

This song reminds me that there is hope. During the worst bouts of depression I played it constantly. The words touched my heart. It did not cure me obviously (meds and therapy helped) but this song was a tiny flicker of hope and sometimes that's enough to get through one more day.

This episode is one of my favourites... That moment when Robin is dissapointed and sad because of she thinks that she will lose him forever and suddenly, everything is a conspiration of Barney, everything is prepared and organized because he loves her too... It is so Beautiful...

Just binge watched this entire season again I got to say season 8 was one of their best seasons

A couple of years ago,this song was the legendary song for that made us remember Barney's proposal to Robin,but as time passes,we started to understand how alone Ted was in the skyscraper

I guess this song wasn't about" hope she says yes" it was screaming ted's loneliness at that moment

Everybody here is talking about How I Met Your Mother and I'm just realising that this song is one of the best i've ever heard. No matter If you're in love, no matter if you're down, no matter if you're before to do something big you're afraid of, but you know you have to do that.. It fits and it fits to another million emotions too. And I'm really happy that you need st*pid three chords to do song like this. Three chords and those right words...

This song reminds me of life in Minecraft. "In the Oceans deep. In the canyon's steep. Walls of Granite, here I stand" - Exploring a Minecraft world at it's finest. From exploring all the different ocean biomes to finding the rarely ever featured canyon like masa biomes. Also makes me appreciate granite blocks in the game more. "To believe I walk alone is a lie that I've been told." - From playing Minecraft on a single player survival world for so long, taking on all kinds of desolate narratives. I remember building a massive tower for a base, getting on top of it, and just watching the Minecraft sun slowly set, contemplating the story behind a Minecraft single player world, to be the last human exploring, in a world plagued by creatures of the undead, giant spiders, exploding four legged mobile plants, etc. Exploring the world in ways that I knew I would never be able to in real life. Mining my way through mountains. Manually swimming through massive spans of the ocean to get to the next continent. Nether portal to hell. Exploring massive cave structures. Gathering resources. Building my own house. Sustaining my own existence. I was thriving. But I was alone. Until finally, Finding like minded friends, having our own server, finally playing on multiplayer. It was like two people that started existing at the opposite poles of the earth exploring the world, thinking they were alone, until suddenly, and finally, they stumble upon each other on some random continent. It was gratifying.

My future wife and I have a best friend who's going to be our roommate and she said I would be Marshall she said she would be Ted she got her self out of a engagement with my former coworker of mine who is also a best friend.

I have good friends but it was never like this I wish I had this my friends go with me for lunch or movies maybe but this.. this feels like family more than friends I wish I had 1% of it they go along together better than I go along with my family it’s sad to think about...

Was a great moment for Robin and Barney but Ted is the most innocence guy in the world. Hands down.

I never cried, because of missing a Tv-Show. And i never missed a tv-show so hard... HIMYM is forever in my heart. Its funny and sad. Its sweet. Its everythink. And i love it.

All these song from HIMYM have mostly comments about HIMYM, it’s amazing to see people still care about HIMYM despite it ending so long ago and the actors growing apart

Thanks HIMYM, now I want to cry listening to this song. Every single time I listen to it, I just imagine a sad Ted Mosby watching out over the same city that a now-engaged Barney and Robin look over. And then the last episode, this song applies to both Ted with a now dead wife, and Robin, being completely separated from "the gang." I hate this show.

First time watching HIYM in 2010 when i was in college. Now, i just do another re-watch..i felt a slap in the face, hurt. Its differrnt point of view when i was watching this series 10 years ago. I am the Robin of my friendship circle.

They should do the same series like this, but from the each characters point of view, that would be amazing

whenever I hear this song I remember the gang and all they went through together. It does all tied up together. This makes me feel nostalgic

Cant believe that HIMYM is about to end. Im gonna miss the old gang sitting at that table. :(

This song speaks to my heart on such a deep level. I found it, like most, from watching How I met your Mother. I find myself looking out into the night sky trying to figure my life out......

loved HIMYM, when ppl say that it's just another F.R.I.E.N.D.S wannabe I just want to punch them and tell them its not, in the first season yes it looked like a wannabe, but gradually it grew and became better...its the perfect story of how some silly group of friends walk through the difficult moments of their life's and grow more and more wiser, how they find true love...I will miss and ALWAYS REMEMBER U HIMYM :'(, wish u would have lasted longer

+Vedant Singh Here's the thing though. I love HIMYM, but nobody can deny that FRIENDS is one of the most iconic sitcoms of all time. Due to the "iconicness" of FRIENDS compared to the time it was created, it naturally makes HIMYM a little less impressive. Although, time factor aside, I also believe that HIMYM with all of its gimmicks is a better than FRIENDS.

friends is funnier than HIMYM but in terms of drama, executions and character development (finale aside) HIMYM is by far better
