Very concerning how bad the memories are of these post office executives. How do they get these jobs when they can't remember anything? How does anyone work with these people if they can't remember anything from one week to the next? I wonder if Vennells will be able to remember anything of the last 15 years or so?

@@fatwalletboy2 That is a theme of a lot of the witnesses, who have conveniently selective memories. Vague on anything incriminating and crystal clear on things they remember not doing, such as reading a particular document.

A totally unreliable, devious witness. She held a lofty position, sufficient to sit alongside Paula Vennels in front of a panel of MP’s, yet repeatedly claimed to be nothing more than a paper shuffler - receiving emails she couldn’t be bothered reading, forwarding them to less senior colleagues and choosing to ignore their responses. Her evidence defied logic, on the few occasions she could actually remember anything. She spent years ignoring the evidence in front of her, defending the indefensible to the last. Truly appalling.

I'm quite sure Angela van den Bogerd didn't have that kind of conversation on those two occasions. Angela is indeed telling the truth. However, this conversation was when Mrs Odell was being threatened with paying back the money, which suggests a conversation *before* those two which are mentioned. As usual, a distortion of the facts, wilful omissions, and a contempt for the truth.

Given how many times Van Den Bogerd blamed her faulty recollection, why should anyone take her memory of this incident seriously? In addition to being found to be a liar in her statements to the Court of Judge Fraser, she’s also maintaining that she was pathologically inattentive and doesn’t remember in her testimony to the inquiry.

  • @christopherbriscoe8665

A hallmark of a pathological liar is their memory is crystal clear when defending against circumstantial and incriminating evidence, yet, they cannot recall anything when asked about their incriminating conversation. In other words, a hallmark of a pathological and perjerous liar is they remember things in their defence but forget things in their guilt.

Beer KC, lead counsel to the inquiry, challenged Ms van den Bogerd's opening statement, as he accused her of not saying sorry for her own role in the scandal… The actions and motives were to save money and for personal gain in the way of significant benefits & bonus pay outs!!! Not to protect the brand.., it was to protect shareholders and save the business from going bankrupt!!

Bullies always deny because they are safe in the knowledge of the best times and places they choose carry out their abuse. Of course no one saw her. A practised seasoned bully has already had years of practice in recognizing who they can threaten, when they can do it and how they could get away with it. Worst, their proficiency in avoiding truth telling can take years before pay back time rolls up.

The Post Office executives are ‘so sorry’ but all have amnesia when any question is directed at them. The Government should make sure all these Execs are fully investigated by the police and charged appropriately. They’ll never return their millions in wages and bonuses but at least a bit of jail time might give them a taste of what damage they’ve caused hundreds of people. Let’s see if the Government has the guts to pursue this properly.

People, please understand the term 'Due Process'. This is an enquiry, an enquiry does not have the power to prosecute anyone telling lies even though van den Bogerd swore under 'oath' at this enquiry! She will not be prosecuted for her lies. What now needs to happen is she faces a civil Court, then she is subject to perjury and perverting the course of justice for lying under oath. If found to be a liar, given the evidence, under the jurstigition of a Court, she can then be prosecuted under a Crown Court and criminally convicted for lying under oath and jailed. The Postmasters have threatened this procedure if the Enquiry do not deal adequately with her lies. This Enquiry is NOT subject to criminal prosecution.
