Former MNPD officer Delke to plead guilty to manslaughter in shooting of Daniel Hambrick

The trial of decommissioned Metro Police Officer Andrew Delke was expected to begin July 12, but it won't be happening now that Delke has taken a plea deal in the case.

This is outrageous and the very reason plea deals should be abolished! He shot a fleeing man in the back like the coward he is. Rogue Cops should have no preferential treatment, but tried as any other citizen and receive the same sentences. An outrage, and to keep the plea deal from the family was absolutely disgusting. I hope to God his sentence can be overturned somehow and he gets what he truly deserves... LIFE IN PRISON. My prayers and thoughts are with his family, their grief at this injustice is totally warranted. US must have the most corrupt Police force, Courts and Judges in the World. Shameful.

Anyone who says one man with a gun was such a danger that he deserved to be killed WHILE running in the other direction, what of the Massachusetts standoff with 11 heavily armed men, some of whom ran away from the police into the woods? They refused to show IDs and permits. Which situation was more threatening to the public? There were no fatalities in Massachusetts. Proves that Black men are not the only men who run from police or don’t obey orders. Black men are not the only ones who run who have previous criminal histories. We only know of Massachusetts because it’s so big. How may men of other races have ran or not followed orders with criminal histories but are still alive today?

@@EmilyDme I haven’t watched since the first day, but I happily stand corrected if they were people of color and survived to receive their due process (I will probably check updates within the next couple of days). Honestly, as a middle age African American woman, history has helped shape my thinking that armed men interacting with police who make it out alive are automatically not black. Black people have been killed because law enforcement thought there might be some type of weapon somewhere (or at least that’s what has been put into police reports). Or shot while sleeping, walking, playing, running the other direction, etc. Maybe there are some changes starting in policing, at least in Massachusetts. Or, maybe it was outnumbered and outgunned like you said. It still stands that blacks are not the only people who carry guns, run from cops, or who have a criminal or drug history. That’s information that is usually given by people to paint black victims of police brutality as thugs that somehow deserved to be killed. Blacks, like all Americans, deserve due process and police should not serve as law enforcement, judge, jury, and the person who executes. I believe anyone running in the opposite direction is NEVER a threat to police. If a person committed a crime and runs, they should still be apprehended. I think deadly force should only be used when there is an immediate threat to police or others. Also, having a gun does not automatically make someone a threat to others. Most gun activists are white Republicans, many of whom carry guns. Most people who carry guns do it for their protection not to harm others. We do not see the ones who run and live. Some of those who run and survive are white, with a weapon, with a criminal history, and/or a drug history who are allowed their right to due process.

The officer was doing his job by protecting other people in the neighborhood from an armed man running around. Had Hambrick ran off and shot someone else and the police didn't stop him, the police would have been blamed. I feel like it was wrong to shoot him since he was running away from the officer but I can also understand why he shot him, because Hambrick did turn his head toward the officer for a split second just before he was shot. The Prosecutor probably thought there was a very good chance the officer would be acquitted with no time served at all.

He was a violent felon and his record was not admissible in court. He wasn't a good citizen just like George Floyd. With that being said, you don't shoot someone 3 times in the back, even though he ran from the cops. You find him using a search warrant for his arrest.

Interestingly all the corruption I noticed from just one video showing officer shoots a man in the back and doesn’t get charged with murder that’s pretty hard and then a woman has an outburst in court threatens a man continues to disrupt the court and doesn’t get arrested or all the way in handcuffs or cited for disorderly or arrested for making threats so I guess they just do whatever they want in this town they don’t seem to follow the law the judge said he was gonna remove that other person for an outburst in court but didn’t do shit about this woman I wonder why

Since Officer's are required to be held at a higher standard of professionalism and or behavior. It's only fair regardless of rather or not it's his first offense. The Officer should at least have to serve the full sentence of the voluntary manslaughter charge. At least, that's bullshit!

individuals do not have any right to exist. The neighborhood lookes decent enough they demanded prosecution for cop jumping between public and private boundaries ending in killing (shooting in the back is also provocative.) Cops made a deal secretly from unarmed kid's family to get off light. It stinks.

A person running from the police is a huge threat to the police and the public. A criminal with a gun running from the police heading toward you home front door where you kids are inside isn't a threat? Should the police shoot the fleeing suspect in the back or should the police let him run in your house where your kids are?

Why did he run, why do we have such questionable training standards to allow shooting him, but its still the standard. I feel for his mother , i ask for better standards for law enforcement and for parents to better teach your kids to respect the law and to work hard for everything in life, i also ask for all of us to value life and each other better. Everyone can sit at the table with love and respect.

So I get to be the one to disagree here. It is terribly sad that this young man made a decision that cost him his life but he did. We are talking about an armed man running, not because he was afraid of being shot by a police officer, but because he was desperately trying to keep from being arrested. So the officer is supposed to let a desperate gunman run into a populated area where he can take a hostage or kill innocent people potentially?? Ridiculous. This has nothing to do with murder but a split second decision to protect the public. So now are police supposed to just let armed criminals run off at will? What planet are we even on anymore? The D A should not have brought charges in the first place and skin color has nothing to do with it so drop the KKK bs. It is really getting old.
