I agree. I never watched the WNBA until now because of all the Caitlin hype but now I'm interested in the rest of the draft class (Reese, Cardoso, Brink, etc). Whoever is in charge of marketing for the WNBA is doing a terrible job. There's a lot of interest (not just for Clark) but for the rest of the talent that got drafted this year and if they don't take advantage of showcasing them, they're going to lose a golden opportunity to advance the popularity of the league.

Or maybe it's because the local carrier that shows Lynx games had to broadcast Minnesota twins baseball games it was a scheduling conflict. The only two teams that are having both of their games shown is the LA Sparks and Indiana.

I've been looking for a video of her first WNBA game, and now I know why I couldn't find it. WNBA needs to do better.

People the bigger question is why didn't the WNBA kick off its season with the defending champions Aces or at least have a East coast West Coast weekend. They could have had LA, Seattle and Aces on one day and New York, Indiana and Chicgo on the next day to spread the superstar visibility to give the entire audience a taste of their product. The next weekend they could have featured the other six team. The people running the WNBA are stuck in the 1950's they need to get some hip hop heads on the marketing team...

The WNBA wanted the night to be about Caitlin. They could have broadcast the game on a local network, livestream or even their own league pass like they did Caitlin's game. There is no excuse for not having the game on the league pass plus Chicago has so many networks and new popular sports streams looking for content.

TV deals are not made overnight it takes time if the WNBA has a successful season and the networks see the interest coming from fans we will see a new TV deal maybe even independent from the NBA because their TV rights are included in the NBA deal

They will promote who they want. I was looking forward to watching her and Kamila Cordosa play their first game as teammates.

I am new to this WNBA scene, and I couldn’t agree more that there is more than lack of fan support. In my short time of paying attention, there seems to be hating veterans, out dated marketing, and most importantly a proper break for the incoming class to adjust to professional basketball. Didn’t Angel and Camilla just come off of a run for the NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

@@roee78 I know like for Reese, she would’ve graduated this week with the rest of the graduates, but because of the draft and the season with the WNBA beginning so soon, she got her diploma on 4/17…and YES people, she got her degree in Mass Com. There needs to be better timing with all of this. With all of these young ladies taking more of an interest in college basketball and entering the pros, there needs to be more teams created and more structure because the WNBA is getting ready to be overrun with players.

The WNBA likely barred networks from showing the Chicago Sky highlights. Even Chicago local news did not show it. The league wanted the night to be about Caitlin. ESPN often get more views on Angel Reese. Angel Reese has a bigger Instagram following then Caitlin. Caitlin's ESPN draft selection TikTok video has 8 million views while Angel 's has 16 million views. The WNBA is acting like Caitlin Clark's PR team.

First of all the SKY was scheduled to play Saturday the game all of the sudden was moved to Friday into the same slot as the Indiana game, thats intentional. To get people to buy league pass they advertised the game as if they were going to show the SKY game on KZread but once you paid then you found out you couldn't catch the Sky game. The purpose of WNBA league pass is to be able to see out of market games. The WNBA is trying to change the face of the league in order to attract the white male sports fan audience. The number one demographic that has supported the league over it's history is the black male. Problem is the black male doesn't have the types of dollars for extra revenue streams the league wants, nor do they control corporate or media sponsorship dollars. People can't see the WNBA is just another labor market that capitalist want to manipulate and control by providing the product they want you to buy. People need to educate themselves to these market force. Nothing in our economy happens by mistake all market are subjected to Cartel activities and manipulation to achieve a rigged profit.

That's why her games are already sold out ( the demand is there) Chicago games aren't sold out. There is no demand to see Reese. The problem is the draft placed Catlin, Cardosa and Reese in the same geographic market and Chicgo is a way bigger media market than Indianapolis. To maximize promotion of the Indiana team they need to capture the Chicago market along with Cleveland its like a tri-state type of thing. It was impossible to do for Indiana when Jordan was here and will be difficult if Chicago superstars emerge. Its really ridiculous on the opening of the pre season the only team that should have been playing in every market is the Aces who are the defending champions but that would be promoting too many black superstars.

Apparently, the local Minnesota station had a sports event already airing. Of course this is no acceptable excuse, because the higher ups at the wnba should have had another station or streaming service ready to show the game. They could have aired it themselves exclusively on the Wnba app/ wnba league pass, but instead the game is a phantom match. And yes its just preseason, but clearly people wanted to see these new talents such as Clark and Reese as soon as possible.

Looking at the W app only Indiana Fever and Los Angeles Sparks will have all of their preseason games broadcast. Most teams will not have any preseason exposure.

Now that the WNBA is hearing these complaints,I think they will quickly make adjustments…I’m an old man now, and not as passionate about the game….But I can remember how the NBA took advantage of the popularity of the 1979 Championship game,with Magic and Bird(they beat my DePaul squad in the Final Four,that featured a talented,young Mark Aguirre)…In the 70s the top sports were boxing and baseball…NBA players needed a second job or a hustle in the offseason, and many games were tape delayed…

Let’s just hope that because this is preseason, the WNBA will get it together and fix some of these issues with watching the games. Keep letting them know and that’s great that there is a viewership number for the Chicago game even if it was from a livestream personal account of a fan. Now there’s a chance they will seriously look into the situation. All in all the WNBA has eyes on like never before due to the great rivalry that happened in college hoops with CC and AR teams and the championships. 🎉🎉 🎉

Yes this was a major fail. Me like others was looking forward to angel and Camila first game as rookie pro . they was only focused on clark . the the press conference them two wasnt at the table whats up with that ??? hope it wasn't a women thang jealousy or they can hang it up now..... That was a definite fail. I subscribed to the league pass and I watched the Fever vs Wings. It was a good game, but my main reason for subscribing was to see Angel & Kamilla's first Sky game.

To tell you the truth if they wasn't head over heels for Caitlyn Clark, most of you wouldn't care if Angel Reese & Kamilla Cardoso debut game was televised or not. It's the drama that you are drawn to. The drama that the media created about Angel Reese & Caitlyn Clark. The media has created this silly black/white dynamic so now you care. The WNBA & the media got you silly fans watching & you're going to continue to watch because of those 3 rookies. Good luck to Angel Reese, Caitlyn Clark & Kamilla Cardoso. Don't lose focus because of these silly ass fans & media that never cared about the WNBA anyways.

They likely have contractual obligations that stop them from airing sone games, small market broadcasters that have been supporting the league for years are going to get screwed by the big guys ( ESPN etc) unless they assert thier rights and demand compensation.

The WNBA does it to themselves with their agenda: 1 Find tthe White Heterosexual Middle America Star and Face of the League THEY can anoint the best player in the league, that White/Middle America will rally behind 2. Find & showcase and prop up every good White player in the league, ESPECIALLY straight ones that aren't hard on the eyes, and/or associated with Kobe in some sort of way (Sabrina Ionescue, Cameron Brink, Jaycee Shelden, Kate Martin, whom I'll call Caitlin Clark runoff, even though she IS a good player, Elizabeth Kittley, MacKenzie Holmes and next year Paige, but since she made her speech in support of Black Women/Lesbians in the league, they've pulled back with her promotion in favor of Caitlin) 3. The WNBA only wants to show support for LGBTQ Black players (that's why the league and so many players don't really ride for A'ja like that, she's kinda of Look at Me /Corny/Clown type chic) but she IS the best player and she IS marketable. 4 As long as the league is full of Courtney Williams, Jonquel Jones, Layshia Clarendon, Natishia Heideman, Arike Ogumbowale, Britney Griner, Alyssa Thomas, Destanni Henderson, Natasha Cloud, Natasha Mack, Erica Wheeler, and toxic, bitter feminist chics like Lexi and Ariel Powers, their league will suffer. Too much lesbianism promotion , because it's the majority of their league and hateing on the few Women, Sistas in particular, that aren't (SkylarDiggans-Smith, Cheyenne Parker, Betnijah Laney Hamilton, Angel and Kamilla, Rickea Jackson)

The WMBA and Chicago didn't miss the anything. First not even showing up for her big press with the team was a major red flag. Other teams showed up big time for their rooky players press conference. Even her teammates didn't show up to support her. But her jersey sold out and ticket prices went up. Go figure

Notwithstanding the ill-advised inaction of the WNBA administrators, let us stay focused to applaud Angel, Kamilla, and the other members of the 2024 class. I believe these young ladies are going to make things happen with or without attention from the WNBA machine. I also believe most of the 2024 class will be the story at the close of the season- not just one player they are centering. All of them can bring fans. WNBA admins need to stop disrespecting the other players; highlight all of your gems. I am definitely banking on some top-notch stuff from the Chicago Sky.

A lot of the rookies aren't even going to make their teams roster. Just like last year the guard that played for LSU, that was instrumental in them winning the Championship was cut . Reese might not make the team, remember she was the 7th pick, the Sky choose the girl from South Carolina before her
