Former Athens International Airport - Various views
Aerial views of the former Athens International Airport in Hellenikon. The airport closed permanently in 2001. Since then a part of the runway area used for the construction of the Athens 2004 Olympic complex (presented in another video in our channel) and the whole installation remains abandoned, waiting for the reconstruction of the whole area as part of the Hellenikon Metropolitan Park.

Indeed it was a terrible accident... if you were in the USAF Air Base, you can watch the other video in our channel presenting the Air Base Tower water tank. You can see how it is nowadays and remember... Happy new year!
