Former Arizona inmate brings 'convict cuisine' to all
We have, on many occasions, cover the latest offerings from restaurants and food truck across the Phoenix area, but what makes John Avila's food special is where the inspirations came from.
"Nobody knows about this type of food," said John Avila, the owner of Prison Pies. "You know, the stuff that we did in prison was just totally different than anything you eat out here."

Yeesh please do! This is my dad's friend stand both served together I think or they knew each other from before, but yes prison tamales are the best! But I'm hoping they'll have Fritos too for the masa 🤤

My husband has made the jail tamale, my daughter loved it. He learned how to make sweet & sour chicken. I’m curious of that one.
