Put a quart of good ATF in substitution for a quart of oil next few changes and it will clean it right up and won’t hurt a thing. Bought a 91 same color as that one for my daughter couple years ago and same issue, I also changed the drain plug, pan gasket, and valve covers. It set in a garage for years. Runs great now oil came out super dirty first couple of changes with ATF and now it’s nice and clean and engine is super quiet. No leaks

Well, I’m glad he told you about the ATF because I was gonna tell you the exact same thing run some ATF through it. It’ll clean it right up, dump the ATF out but your oil back in, might run some Berrymans in there as well.

I have a1992 F150 and the water temperature gauge never gets far into the warm temperature range. Even with a full load of gravel in the truck bed. It has a fairly new water pump, a 192 degree thermostat and a 3 core radiator. And yes a fairly new water temperature sensor for the ECM.

You need to relocate the PCV port from the rear of the manifold to the center of the manifold. There's a TSB out there calling for it. If you don't, it dumps all of the blowby into cylinder #8, leading to all kinds of problems on that cylinder. Basically, you drill and tap NPT for a hose barb-NPT elblow in the center of the manifold and plumb to there.

Easiest way to clean the engine, transmission, cross member under oil pan. Is the oven cleaners from Sam's club. After that spray sits for about 10- 15 minutes. Car wash it off and it cleans like butter. Just don't get it on body paint. It cleaned all that oily crude off the frame and cross member.😊

When my 86 Bronco 302 EFI finally had enough and we yanked it after 10 hard years of faithful service, internals were quite clean, just worn the F out! 20 over on the block & JE pistons, stock crank 10/10, shot peened rods, found a nice set pre-smog 351 heads with feraria 2.02/1.60 valves, full roller conversion, truck focused porting, don’t recall cam specs but came from Lunati, freshened AOD…damn if that wasn’t the best truck combo ever- sure miss the ole girl, Midwest rust just killed it

Something I’ve found in my OBS fords is the gauges lie a majority of the time. My 88 f350 460 reads just below the n on the temp gauge but runs at 193 ish depending on the Texas weather. Just some food for thought

You should see if the air box and coolant/windshield washer fluid tank from a 1992 F150 would work on that truck.

I just fixed the bucking on hard throttle on my F150. Ended up that the fuel pressure regulator was bad. I bought a Kirban regulator and it solved it.

That spot on the heater core that your uncle sprayed with foam is where the mice get in. There's also supposed to be a large rubber grommet that blocks off access to the heater box through the cowl near the antenna. I glued mine down with RTV to make sure nothing could get in there.

For cleaning the tank, I had to pressure wash my 81 celica tank. The chemicals and stuff only do so much when there’s just a crapload of material in there that needs to come out. Not sure if yours is similar but the filter makes it seem that way.

if you are going to engine swap this vehicle my suggestion would be to put a diesel engine into it and retain the dual tank setup as you may know diesel engines have a minimum of double the torque to horsepower. also if you do upgrade it slightly more than stock.

I wonder if a vapor blaster would be within the budget of your shop to have. That'll clean up all your aluminum and iron castings and a jiffy!!

Back in the day I always had my hoses loose at the throttle body to pull off quickly for a race . The butt dyno said it worked .

Needs a LS motor and Transmission if you want a reliable shop truck, be just a nicer ride all around as well. The best mod for a Ford is always a Chevrolet drive train as a lot of vehicles look quite nice but never work well.
