Dirtiest idle out there. Glorious mechanical clatter. They sound great at all RPM's but I've always thought nothing else could touch an IDI at idle.

What's crazy is that nowadays a new diesel truck is 100 grand because they somehow turned into a luxury item, but I just picked up an 83 F250 with this motor for 3k in good condition and I guarantee it'll keep running for years to come

Runs pretty well for being 35 years old. Just drove it 2600 miles across country. I’m thinking that the starter might need to be replaced soon. Just seems like it chugs a bit slow, batteries are brand new also.

Got a 87’ f250 in upstate ny. After many years of cranking in the cold I got rid of the mechanical lifter pump and installed a duralift electronic pump. Slightly higher idle but it pops on the second revolution even on the coldest Jan-feb days. Nice truck you got there

I was very close to going that route when my original lift pump crapped out. Lately I’ve been having issues with the injector caps allowing air to leak into the fuel system, I have to get around to replacing them all.
