Finally got a chance to finish watching your video. What a GREAT JOB you did on your frame repair. I remember those days of doing all that Fab work in my younger days. Still got 1 more 64 Fairlane that I need to do all that same repair myself. After watching you do this has got me pumped to do mine one last time. Thanks for the encouragement, been putting it off to long. Keep up the Great work and I'll be following you along on your progress. Thanks again, Brother.

Awesome that you do this reconstruction work. You may feel it's not worth the work but it certainly is with such rare and virtually unatainable cars like the 64 Fairlanle's, Falcon's and Galaxie's. Thanks for putting in the extra time to save the one and if you can, the other one as well. Truly worth while doing so. :-)

Very nice fab work. My thoughts about rust from SE US cars - in that era there were a large number of dirt roads. Add rain. Make mud. And you see the end result even if there were drain holes. Also - I howl at your dad's off screen commenting. It's 10X funnier just hearing it off to the side. LOL

Just a word of advice, I dont suggest going to a bigger diameter sway bar on these Fairlanes or Mustangs using the stock lower control arms. These arms are tiny and I've seen these stiffer sway bars pull the link bolts right through the control arm, plus make sure your frame section where the sway bar mounts is not rusty. They rust from the inside out. Also seen these mounting bolts pull out of the frame because the bigger sway bars are so stiff. Just some FYI!!

I just acquired a 64 fairlane, and I am fortunate to find that it's a very solid car. However, one of the previous owners had installed adjustable coil spring spacers that had to be cut out before I could put the right springs in the car (it has a 429 in it, and the springs were for a small block). I used a different spring compressor (jaws at the bottom and a fork at the top). It was still dicey, and one of the springs got away from me once. Fortunately, the compressor wasn't compressed more than a few turns with a hand ratchet. Death spring, indeed. :)

Some advice for rust repair. If you have parts that have a light surface rust that's not horribly rotten. Buy some rust cutter, it's a rust converter that will convert the rust to iron phosphate. It's a good way to help prevent surface rust from becoming cancer, prep the surface, spray on some rust cutter, and you'll be left with a good surface to primer and paint.
