Forging a KNIGHT Sword out of Rusted Steel SPRING
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
This Templar Knight Sword was made as close to the historic as possible some processes were slightly different like the red paint instead of red wax originally used. The blade is made from a leaf spring with the guard being mild steel and the pommel being stainless steel with stainless steel wire wrapped handle, and cherry red oil paint. This sword overall took me 6 months to make, around 200 hours of work. I hope you have enjoyed the video and the sword as much as I have, and I also hope you get out there and make something as well.

This is stunningly beautifully crafted work of art! Mr. Paul. This looks way more better that what I have seen in stores on display. I love the craftmanship you have done.
what a gorgeous sword. I see so many fictional and fantasy swords in popular culture which so miss the mark in so many ways - it would be so much better if this beautiful yet practical sword would be emulated instead of what we see most often in movies/tv/video games

Very nicely done! What tool did you use for making the fuller? Thanks
Amazing build. So you used a metal cutting wheel on an angle grinder to grind in the initial fuller groove before scraping it out with a half round file. Between the cutting wheel and the file did you use a grinding wheel attachment to enlarge the fuller ?

It turned out great but it did make me cry because it wasn't forged and the hardening didn't seem hot enough.
Congratulations, nice work, before giving water to the steel, the steel should be heated to orange color...

It’s just a scraper. If you have a large half round file you can use the very end best is to get tool steel round stock weld it onto a price of metal and use it like that
How it's named the tool you use to make the cross?
you didnt forge anything, beautiful blade but to be frank its not forged its made big difference. nonetheless great job

I’m glad you like the sword and I did actually forge the steel because originally it was a curved leaf spring (as seen in thumbnail) and I forged it straight and thinner. I did not forge the tip or bevels nor did I show this because it was pretty redundant.
What is the tool you used to dig the fullers? Outstanding work
Dood, what was the thing you used to make the fuller? I'd love one of these :D
What did you use to attach it to the wood before sander grinding, and what angle (if ) you shimmied it at? GOOD JOB!

Ohh in that case I used some wire fence screws to just pinch the sword to the wood and cut the wood to about 4 degrees.
Interesting video, thank you for sharing. What did you use to gouge out the fuller by hand, looked like a modified file?
What is the name of the tool that you used to scrape into the fuller?

Great work but still need a lot of sharpening cause so far it slaps and pearce the bottles not cutting them. Over all great job again 😊
I respect all the hard work and especially without having a 2x72 belt grinder. I’m not sure you really had the blade to the right temperature for the heat treat. It was day time so it’s harder to see but I don’t think the steel was even glowing red or orange. Otherwise congrats and nice work.

Materials were fairly cheap but it took an entire 4 months of daily work, because of lack of necessary power tools, but that made it even more worth it when I saw it finished.
Now you need a scabbard for it, then maybe a shield!

You should label the video "Stock removal," NOT "forging!" It's a bit misleading. Still...awesome job with grinding. Looks great. Tip for your next build: Wait to harden and temper until it's a bit dark out, or it an out-door shed that provides shade, so you can see your colors a little better. Great job, keep it up!

Nice blade what tool you use to make the fuller?
@marcburkett9834
Жыл бұрын
You know why it's called a fuller? Because blacksmiths used a "fullering" tool placed in the hardy hole on an anvil to create it. Even if you DID "forge" down that metal from a leaf spring (doubtful unless you also have some sort of metal planning device in that garage of yours) you're still destroying any benefits of said forging by completely grinding everything. This IS NOT a forged blade. Forged is hammer and anvil.....POTATOES....NO PO-TAH-TOES. Change the title of the clip to stock removal and just own it. No big deal. It is a great looking S.L.O., I will give you that. But I wouldn't claim that my chihuahua is an attack dog...she's a good guard dog...but she's got no damned teeth. Also, if you're going to be endangering yourself and others while swinging that...brush up on your western martial arts or practice some HEMA. You don't step into your swing like your swinging a baseball bat slugger.
He could've sharpened the blade a little better
It's a shame but that sword is not sharp.
Melon would of been better
