Season 2 strength test = We're going to cut through some vines. Season 6 strength test = We're going to detonate a nuclear warhead on your blade. You suffered some edge rolling on the warhead test, which indicates a problem with your heat treat, for this reason, you cannot be the forged in fire champion.

A lot of people are saying Burt's blade wasn't historically accurate, which isn't true. He could have curved the blade a bit more, but this type of sword has potentially been used by a number of different cultures from around the fifth century BCE, so there has been a LOT of variation in terms of design. His blade actually resembles a lot of older historical examples from the early middle ages.

Burts blade looks more like a weed slasher/brush knife than a sickle. I have restored and repurposed many of both in all different shapes and sizes for fun in between working on axes and hatches. I must say though if I had to pick one to use myself it would be Burts, much easier to use and fight with that less pronounced curve and way easier to sharpen. I can't tell you how many times my hands and fingers have fallen victim to the bite of a sickle while doing the final polishing, definitely way more than knives or axes despite working with them much less often.

Right. The less curved Shotel has more reach und would be more practical to stab behind a shield or cut the backside of a knee. The more curved one would be better to pull a shield but still it's not that easy if your opponent anticipates that very move.

My question:what happens to all those carcasses after killtest..I guess all those meat goes to fire of forge.. And comes out as reward for judges.. For doing all those test

I believe they donate the carcasses to a wildlife sanctuary, as they are unfit for human consumption after testing (too long out of refrigeration, etc)

I disagree... This test was faulted for the weapon built and the person who stuck to the original design lost because of it.

The person who won (burt) matched sample weapon more closely. It wasn't a fishing hook shape - the person who lost curved it too much

They are meant to hook shields, not get hooked up on everyone you cut, useless weapon in battle if that was the case

How is doug going to criticize the one blade for being hook shaped when that is exactly what they asked for? The other guy didnt even make a real shotel...

The problem was in the tip of the blade. The loser's tip was TOO heavily curved, to the point where it was almost bending back towards the handle. The Shotel has a very deep curve, but the tip still has to point forwards so that it doesn't get stuck.

I can´t imagine how hard it would be for a person to make 10/20 knives weekly, if they are all the same design and not really with a weird shape.
