I've always kinda believed that Girl Meets World was about Maya life through her best friends perspective. I mean, Maya is the the one with daddy issues, Shawn marries her mom, they focus on her struggles a lot. For Riley, they more focus on how innocent and bubbly she was compared to Maya.

I loved them together so so much , the amount of hurt that maya went through with riley , lucas and josh plus her home life . She honestly deserved the happy ending more than anyone . The only genuine one that helped her was farkle . This whole show was a roller coaster

Honestly, Lucas and Maya were endgame since they first met, even Riley knew that. Riley has so many things in her life, loving family, amazing best friend, a boy who loves her, but she had to go for the only thing Maya ever loved..Lucas and Maya are so tragically beautiful..If Lucas really liked Riley, he wouldn’t have feelings for Maya..and remember when he said that he was terrified because he had a chance with Maya..and the looks ? How can you not know that they’re endgame ? Honestly, everyone knew..everyone saw it coming..Lucas and Maya didn’t have to change each other for each other, they were themselves with each other and they felt comfortable and felt accepted..if that’s not love, then I don’t know what it...I guess, it’s kind of okay that they didn’t end up together..maybe they were supposed to be a tragedy that everyone loved and remembered.. Their were so many lucaya moments and the writers still had rucas in the end. Rucas has little to no chemistry compared to lucaya. Their story is so much more interesting but Rucas's was just stupid.

But Rucas broke up and even if you aren’t convinced by the ambiguity of their break up, you should at least think about the fact that they were a couple at the end of a series that was _cancelled prematurely_ and where the writers had more to teach and and more of a story to tell/finish. I think if gmw was in a place they wanted it to end or even close to their set ending...they wouldn’t have fought so hard for a S4...or cut so many of RL’s scenes to the point that their relationship was non existent by the end of S3. Especially if people were not gonna look deeper and take those scenes for what they were and instead take the sugary sweet surface level stuff. Like they’ve hammered it home at this point that rucas is not what was happening, that they don’t work romantically, and are emotionally flat and no one seems to get that? (I’m using “no one” very loosely, obviously). Why would they parallel Farkle and Topanga so much, not saying he is *the* Topanga just saying they’ve made so many similarities between the two characters, and make a point of paralleling Farkle’s growth with *Topanga’s* if it was gonna end on rucas? Why does one of MJ’s most direct non-cryptic answers even exist, [Interviewer: I’m curious because-that was the other thing about the initial announcement-she’s gonna meet the boy she’s gonna marry in the pilot and that’s gonna be the show-but first of all, you’re taking forever to build that, which you did in the original show. But do you want to ring that bell again?”] MJ: _“I will tell you right now that nothing close to that will happen in GMW.”_ if it was meant to end on Rucas? One more thing because if I list everything? I would go passed the character limit if there for some reason was one and this would be super long so yeah. The writers said they didn’t make the right decisions in Ski Lodge (by _they_ pretty sure they meant the kids). Why would they say that about such a big episode where so many decisions were made and were influenced by outside forces like Josh who shouldn’t have gotten involved and manipulated by a kid who wants to be a Sherpa (the JERKS!) because of information about all of them that was filtered through Riley (our unreliable narrator atm) that was in the SAME SERIES let alone SEASON with (and mere episodes away from) ones like like Her Monster, SDLM, and Goodbye that relied heavily on making the right decisions *_on your own_* when no one was allowed to do that, I wonder? “You sit here and you think about how, maybe you are a good person now, and it’s because your parents raised you right and we helped you make all of the right decisions, except for this one! Because that’s what’s ending with the entitlement you believe you’re due.” ~ Topanga in Girl Meets “Her Monster” “This is what makes you healthy: whenever it seems like everything else is just out of control, *_you need to be able to rely on your own minds and your own bodies to be whoever you are. ‘Cause knowing who you are, that’s the best control you could possibly have._* So, make good decisions about yourselves.” ~The Coach in Girl Meets “She Don’t Like Me”. “Look, listen to your heart. Your heart is what’s gonna tell you what to do. And then go and find your favorite quiet place.” Eric in Girl Meets “Goodbye” Followed by this from Topanga at the end of the episode when she comes from behind the counter at Topanga’s, “Yeah. Sorry I’ve been thinking for a long time. Turns out, this is my quiet place.” But also this exchange in Girl Meets “Upstate” when Lucas made his decision about them but didn’t get to say that one, Z: Where are the girls? L: They’re not here. Z: And you’re sittin’ in here _by yourself?_ L: Yeah. I’ve been here for like five hours. And this one from Season 2, Girl Meets Legacy, L: How did you make *_the right decision?_*

Because we love the characters too. Enjoy it.”_ (Both are from the writers on twitter and what we found out matters is friendship.) Making the wrong decisions is how you grow, figure out who you are, and figure out how you feel. Which is completely necessary and should be expected in a coming of age story where we get a cast of characters undergoing changes and growth. I would also like to note that Jacobs himself has talked about how there are two kinds of relationships. He has talked about this in a show where the lesson is perception vs. reality, where kids are so out of touch with their feelings to the point that they can’t recognize them right away and what’s *real.* The overall lesson that they planned to use Riley and Lucas for, in order to teach it. (“Riley and Lucas will go trough something that we hope is one of our most important lessons.”) Back to the two relationships thing (I’m almost done, I promise); there is the sustaining long runner and _the relationship that sets you up to know what love is._ At this point which do you think Riley and Lucas’ relationship is? And look, I get it. We all wanted Lucaya and we all wanted Riarkle but it wasn’t the time for them yet. The kids weren’t ready for those relationships yet because they still had a lot to learn. [“Let what we had make you ready for something.” ~Angela GM “Hurricane”] Just something to think about.

Lucas and Maya acted so much more like a couple then Riley and Lucas when they actually were a couple. Did we ever see them doing anything remotely convincing that they liked each other or that they were in a relationship.

Jonas Pothen A person who you love. It can be friend, lover, etc. You just promise that you are gonna love her/him forever. You do. But sometimes people cannot struggle against difficulties or they have to go for some reason. So you say "goodbye" but your heart doesn't. Forever is forever. You are gonna love her/him forever. But sometimes you need to say goodbye.

No, she was alwyas happy for maya but she also wanted to be happy for herself. and she wasn't. being happy for a person can be shown in multiple ways it doesn't have to be in the way of the other. maya showed her happiness for riley differently. yes riley got jealous but who wouldn't but she still never ended her friendship or even allowed lucas to tear her and maya's friendship apart. she wasn't selfish and she was always happy fo rmaya and there for maya.

I feel like Riley always gets in the way, because while Maya was talking about how she’s upset about her broken family, Riley complained that her family was ‘too perfect’ and that she couldn’t live up to her parents. I understand that it must be hard but Riley could be more supportive. Also, she wouldn’t feel bad about liking Lucas. It’s like Maya is just taking her turn until she needs to step aside for Riley

Kaitlyn Ryan exactly like at least Riley has a family to live up to. At least Riley had a great family who loved her and was there for her. Maya wanted that more than anything, sure she had her mom and she was there sometimes, but she wanted her family to be complete. With a father who was there and a mother who was happy and maybe a sibling so Maya wouldn’t feel so alone. I just don’t understand why Maya didn’t get angry with Riley when she said things like that.

@Kaitlyn Ryan I can see where Riley is coming from, and I honestly like how Maya didnt tell her off, because sometimes at least for me, it can feel like you cant talk about problems you have because other people have it worse than you, and so you don't know what to do, and I found that Riley was still supportive of Maya, and its good that they were both able to find people who care about them and are able to help them. But I do get your point lol, because Riley can feel annoying sometimes because she seems a bit privileged. Not trying to offend here lol
