Why I Started Chasing My Dreams & Stop Caring What Other People Think

In this video will discuss how I successfully stopped caring about what other people think of me, approval addiction and finally started to chase my dreams.
Why I stopped living for others and started living for myself.
Having come from a musical family, art and creativity have been at the forefront of my passions ever since I was a child. I had so many dreams and ambitions when I was younger, but like most of us come to find, these were overshadowed by the modern day ideas of "success" and the opinions of others.
However, a couple of years ago and after adopting a slow living lifestyle, things changed and I decided to start chasing my dreams and stop caring what other people think. In this video I want to share why you need to start chasing your dreams, stop comparing yourself to others and start living for yourself.
This video is for anyone who may feel stuck in life and wish to pursue a dream but lack the self-belief or confidence to do so.
It is a bit more of a personal piece but I hope this helps you and you can find comfort in these words that dreams don't always have to be just dreams. You can change your life and pursue a different path.
Let me know your thoughts on this in the comments below! Please like, share and subscribe if you haven't already! 😊
Wishing you a happy and peaceful day wherever you are!

Awesome video, Holly! I was once chasing my dreams too, and I earned a Master's and a PhD degree with honours in musicology. However, I lost my passion for it, and now I'm pursuing a completely new dream, building my new future. I've been working on it for three years now, and there is still so much to do on this project. But I will finish it because I know how, it's just so slow. Have a nice day! Greetings to the UK!

You are right that we need to discover our inner child and find joy rather than letting life around us make us become drones, hovering and not touching down on the things we want to do, like to do, and could be doing. We need to wake up, find the middle ground and realize that no matter the circumstances, you can either make things happen or you can sit back and dream about it.

Nice one, Holly. Loved this topic! As a kid, I was always indecisive about what I would do if I'd grow up. Today after so many years of learning and making mistakes, I am finally pursuing my dream of teaching. I love how you have raised the point of being courageous in our pursuits. It takes effort to stay consistent with your dream as life can be unpredictable. I am grateful to my parents for supporting me in achieving my dream. A lot of people have the "dream" but they fail to pursue it because they procrastinate. It's now or never. By the way, you look so beautiful and love the jacket.

I needed to hear this. I have an office job that I feel is very constricting, draining and unfulfilling for me because I'm naturally a creative. I was happier when I was younger when pursuing a career in dance (before an injury ended that path) and having a job as a face painter. The money was not always consistent but I was ever so happy. I am reigniting that creative spark that once was but I don't share what I want to do with everyone. People don't support other peoples dreams if they haven't pursued their own.

Thank you for sharing this. I feel you’re certainly not alone with feeling this way, particularly when it comes to finding work unfulfilling. I think the best means to combat this is to find meaning outside of just a work remit, like within hobbies and relationships🙂 Money certainly is important but unfortunately that sense of purpose and meaning cannot fulfilled by monetary means alone. Just never give up pursuing that which is meaningful and enjoyable to you and you never know what could come of it in the end! Wishing you all the best🫶✨

Dear Holly, FYI - We exchanged kind words in your past couple of videos but please take notice that I changed my name. I'm not slow to respond, I'm just slow to let you know that I'm responding. The strange reality is that I actually found myself watching 👀 this video 3 different times on 3 different days. Each time I watched it, I realized more and more how important your teachings are going to be in the near future for all of humanity. You say "What is this world going to look like in a hundred years" but I'm wondering what this world is going to look like in 10 years when businesses figure out how easy it is to automate a third of their jobs. Your 💯 percent correct in stating that an "Aimless life is not good" and my knowledge and wisdom is informing me that we need an army of Caring and Loving 💜 people just like you to spread comfort and joy talking people down off the ledge of dispare when Artifical Intelligence begins torchering their well-being. Please continue 🙏 creating content that is geared exactly around the Vision you are Portraying in your Teachings. I'm unsure if you are a Godly woman, but I'm certain your message is divine and that you are preparing for a time of Biblical Porportions, which will be here sooner than most realize. P.s, I 💯 Absolutely Loved the old school setting in your Dad's Music Studio for this video. Another Outstanding Video!

Exactly the kind of video I love. Thanks for talking about something that is so relevant to so many people. In life, pretty much all of the most successful people, have had to lay it all down the line and in some cases put extreme efforts into their dreams, to create an invention that advanced humanity's knowledge, or to gain a serious music skill, or to achieve an extraordinary sports feat, or to climb that unscaled mountain. I sometimes struggle with the difficulty of not seeing immediate results at the beginning. It feels like 0 progress almost. Anyway, I still feel like we should be grateful to be alive and it will be a victory to live our best life, under our own terms, and making our own choices. Cool studio, Holly.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts here, it's so nice to connect with someone who feels equally as passionate about this topic. I understand what you mean, we have a tendency to use the evidence we obtain (the results, progress etc) as a measuring tool for whether something is working and could happen in the long run. But I think like any master would say or dream, its the struggle and learning that enable you to grow, learn and eventually succeed 😊 Realising anything is possible if you're willing to endure the obstacles along the way, which undoubtedly is the hardest thing to do! ✨

I love that this video is musically themed too, because my dream is music. A dream must be followed by whole-hearted, disciplined implementation. Often we focus more on daydreaming about our passion and ultimately the dream always remains a 'dream'. What a superb video and your dad's studio looks absolutely amazing 🤩 He's got some quality equipment and you look right at home in there. You couldn't have said it any better and so eloquently put Holly. You're absolutely right! I was kind of hoping to hear you sing seeing as you have such a lovely way with words. Not many people will understand when you try to do something against the norm and follow a dream, but if you truly feel strongly about something you should never let anything or anyone stop you. Just remember if nobody ever followed their dream this world would be a rather boring place to be. When trying to make your dream come true you will have so much fun along the way because you'll be following your heart's desire and there's nothing more important than that. Every step you take you'll gain more knowledge and momentum and that fuels the fire even further to keep going. Along the way you'll meet people who want to support and help you achieve your dream and that is all you need. With a lot of determination, passion and a pinch of luck you'll get there and make it reality. It's not always easy to achieve your dreams but if you keep moving forward then you're always closer to the finish line. In the unfortunate case that you can't make your dream come true you can always have another one. That's the beauty of dreams. 💫 May I ask what your dream is and what sort of music / groups you are into? I've been drumming for 14 years now so I'm slightly nosey when music's involved ☺️

Thank you for your comment! It is a little creativity cave and he has some amazing equipment I feel lucky to have used over the years 😊 I wish I could have given a little rendition but unfortunately my voice is not as good as it was when I was younger! I think you've summed this concept up wonderfully and that a dream itself is most meaningful because of the struggle and strife required to make it happen. It shows a persons true strength of character I think when you hear stories about how they made their seemingly impossible dreams come true. I was into classical music but am more into indie as I've grown older. The drums are a fantastic instrument though, what a great talent to possess! ☺ Wishing you the best ✨

Music and art have a way of tapping into our innermost dreams and aspirations. And it's so true that seeking approval from others can cause more harm than good. This is all very true, especially as doing anything creative has a tendency to not be taken seriously by many. I think this is part of the reason why many people who do creative stuff tend to keep it quiet and to ourselves. Maybe that’s also where creative perfectionism comes in - we don’t want to show the fruits of our labours to others before we feel they’re perfect because we’re exposing our inner selves to potential derision or indifference. I think though, that there’s a significant difference between creativity as a child and creativity as an adult. As children, self-doubt doesn’t seem to enter the creative process that much; we scrawl whatever comes to mind with crayons or bang sticks on upturned saucepans and we don’t really consider or even care much whether the results are any good or not. As adults though, we think about what the outside world might think about our endeavours and whether our work meets our own expectations. Our creativity can be crippled by our own self-doubt. Connecting to that childlike sense of play is really important in bringing out our creativity but overcoming that creative self-doubt seems to be an absolutely Herculean task. It’s something I’m still working on and I don’t know whether I’ll ever overcome it. If anyone feels like they’ve ever personally battled with creative self-doubt and managed to slay the monster then I’m all ears!

  • @lagomholly

    @lagomholly

Thank you for sharing this, I think you've summarised this concept perfectly. It's a challenge as we become adults for sure, especially given the whole notion that it's within a child's nature to be "extravagant" or "delusional" when it comes to dreams. I find this particularly evident when children are asked what they want to do when they grow up. But I think there's something inspiring about the boldness of children we need to keep when we're adults. It's also fundamental in a way to ensure dreams and ambitions are executed. I just hope in time many more have the courage to go for it and make their inner child proud 😊
