This extra room is called a keeping room it's like a small living area or nursery . And yes laundry so you don't have to go far ..and closer to the main bedroom closet. Why there is two doors to get there... My parents had same setup in Texas. Plus maids are never in quarters near master normally near children or basement.

During colonial times, a home was built with a Keeping Room, and was always off the kitchen. The Keeping Room always had a fireplace used to "keep" the whole family warm while sleeping together on the floor of the room, when it was cold. This room has made a revival in newer homes, with just a sitting area (not a den) usually with a fireplace, where people can talk, play games, etc., while meals are being prepared.

3 years ago I decided to embrace "experiences over things" and downsized from a ridiculous 4200 sq ft house to a tiny (600 sq ft) house and a bus. I'lll be traveling full time for a few years by land, and God willing, a few more by boat. Seeing that giant, albeit beautiful, house gave me flashbacks and anxiety haha. I would LOVE to know the story behind the home/family etc. I hope they landed on their feet and got a fresh start!!

I don’t think the room off the master was a maids room, didn’t see a bathroom. Plus would you want your maid in the next room if you had a house that big? 🤣 more likely it was the main floor or basement would be maid quarters. And the serving room off the kitchen is called a butlers pantry, used for extra storage and food prep and placing serving dishes while eating.

@@BrookeEli I was thinking the same - lovely home to buy but then you have to think of running costs. 2 million is cheap for such a huge place - in my country (New Zealand) I think depending on where it's located you could easily treble that cost if not more. I do real estate photography - much smaller homes than this with barely half an acre go for over 1 million.

Needs some rooms painted, it’d be great to decorate, a woman’s touch would turn it into something out of this world. What a master suite! Every home should have the laundry room connected to the master bathroom. It’s large, but still amazing. 💖

I think upstairs is just an upstairs laundry, not the maid’s area as there is only si k for wash up.

*OFFICIALLY A NEW SUBSCRIBER* This House is a must need! Plus enough land to farm/harvest, build solar, gate it, and build other houses. Mini community lol. I know you can’t divulge the city, but is this on the Eastern or Western side of Canada? I’m Curious, if it’s closer to Chicago or Seattle? *P.S.* Keep up the good work!!! I see the potential in growth of the channel. *Friendly Suggestion* Better Camera-Wide Angle w/ light adjust for dark rooms. *Food 4 💭*

Thank you! It's on the western side of Canada. We have gotten a new camera since then that can film in higher quality, has stability control and a light. Our newer videos are much better, let us know what you think 😊

Hey guys I've see those style rooms where your saying the maid would live. No rich person wants their maid to live right next to them with no door or anything to separate. I've seen those rooms be like a little sitting/tv/laundry room for the master suit. I'd say it was more something like that or it could even be for an ill older parent/grand parent that for some reason they wanted to be really close, but if they had that kinda money then they could pay for 24-7nursing care so they wouldn't have to do it. Most likely just a sitting room for the master bed room. Your doing awesome love the channel keep up the hard work.

I could legit use a house this size. It is about twice the size as our current house. We have five little girls so this would give each daughter their own bedroom and bathroom and mom/dad a bedroom then a guest room.

No, thanks. I don’t clean. With that size of house, one should be able to hire a weekly crew. One should have both a cook and a gardener. Was there a pool? If so, one would need a pool service.

  • @BrookeEli

No pool. Looks like they use to have a hot tub, that's about it. You would definitely need people coming in weekly to clean this place up!

Just another example to put things into perspective for me. Remember what's really important to you. Who really needs something like this? It's like an regular modern house except they made everything much bigger than necessary.
