Thankyuuuuu My brother has a shorter forearm and yet a bigger hand than me (well, we have two of each) and he thought that it would be easier for a longer forearm to push/ pull the shorter one since he goes back to the science he learnt where a longer lever is easier to lift things with than if you were to use a short one but i think he forgot that the angle of the rotation from the ground to it centre as the object is lifted changes as well to make this so. Actually, i have no idea at all about levers and i believe he does know more but google is my friend and so you are too. Thankyuuu

Can you talk about what to do if you're a small handed person against a big/thick handed person? Seems like sometimes I'm trying to pin a softball and even with greater cupping power, my hand is so open and their is so thick that it's a very shallow cup and all that's left is side pressure.

I was also wondering how does pressing fit in with the forearm length hand size equation. Some people seem suited to press and flop press, other people it doesn't look healthy.
@jesuschrist5417
4 жыл бұрын
I think if anybody can get to a press it's always good because your arm is so much stronger if you can get your shoulder behind it. The key is keeping your shoulder behind the arm though. Someone may be able to back pressure out of your press. That's just my experience. There's this guy I arm wrestle with, and he's a pretty good match against me, but as soon as I get my shoulder behind my arm there's no contest. I hardly feel him resisting. Do you have an example of someone who you think it looks unhealthy when they do it?

I have long forearm and decent size hands but my hands are not thick so I cant grip opponents hand perfectly any advice ?
@oldcrowcornhole Жыл бұрын
I have a small hand (7 3/4 pinky to thumb due to short thick fingers but 4" across the palm, 3 3/4 across the knuckles) but somewhat wide meaty hand. Also measure 10" in forearm at 5'5" tall. Forearm is 12" around at the thickest and bicep is 16.5". So, I'm definitely in the short and stumpy category. I always found in my very low level arm wrestling (at bars and parties randomly) that I can just quickly overpower most guys bigger than me. On occasion someone who knows what their doing will use their big mit to get me into a bad hand position and I lose but I feel like my build makes me tough to beat for the average dudes that I come across. Even some guys I can't pin find it near impossible pin me because I keep my arm compact and close to my body, it's like trying to move a brick wall. But this is mostly against average guys that generally not training for arm wrestling so I suspect not so good on the competitive level.😂

@zacharycollierAW-PL Жыл бұрын
Based on my biomechanics, it's not optimal, but I love the toproll and most forms of outside armwrestling. They come easily to me, and just feel natural. So, even though I'm 5'6'' with a small thick hand, and a 10.25'' wrist to elbow length I am probably not gonna be hooking that much. Wish me luck fellas, Ima need it.

Is wrist diameter and hand size similar or different things? I've always believed you can't really beef up your wrist size, you can make it stronger, but not bigger. I suffer from little girly man wrists
@obviouslee1949
4 жыл бұрын
Completely different things. The top part of your forearm(wrist) is just bones and tendons, the muscles themselves are on the forearm which is why that part grows considerably. Tendons get bigger too but they don't actually produce force they just connect the muscle to the bone. Wrist size is more of an indicator of the total amount of muscle one can put on them(assuming you are natural) with steroids this changes of course.

Thankyuuu
Big thanks Blue:) So denial in front of the pad and cup/drag/chop fir me.

Some if my favorite videos have been just "shooting the shit" about arm wresting
Man that is some good info, who new them guys down-under could think up anything actually useful.... hahah
Great informative stuff to learn from aussie...quick question...what about bone thickness/size...do u find classic 'ectomorphs' - ie naturally skinny guys (with skinny wrists for example) are at a big disadvantage against the bigger boned guys? My guess is they would be at a much bigger disadvantage genetically... ??
Great video, I'm glad there's hope for my tiny hands, lol
Can you talk about what to do if you're a small handed person against a big/thick handed person? Seems like sometimes I'm trying to pin a softball and even with greater cupping power, my hand is so open and their is so thick that it's a very shallow cup and all that's left is side pressure.
Can you do a video on high and low hooking, and the role supination has in the hook?
I was also wondering how does pressing fit in with the forearm length hand size equation. Some people seem suited to press and flop press, other people it doesn't look healthy.
@jesuschrist5417
What about finger to palm ratio? I have a relatively short forearm, big palms and short fingers, so my hand is still pretty small. Are there any advantages/disadvantages to that?
Where did you get your BD-62 Wall Mount Cable Station? I can't find anywhere that ships to Australia :(.
Good info
Blue any chance of a tip for those of us who are short with not particularly long arms or huge hands?
You have to 'hand' it to Ryan, he certainly knows his stuff and is not all fingers and thumbs!
You got me measuring everything now...well, not everything.
I learn a lot, thanks ryan. Im the guy u mention with a small hand and short forearm.

Admit it - you made this video just so you could use the words, "vector" and "Danny Tesch". Great video, and thanks for the instruction.
Have you ever ran into anyone with double-jointed thumbs? Is it any kind of advantage or disadvantage? Any special rules for people like me who have them? (the middle knuckle 2nd from my nail up my thumb)
when your measuring the hand from wrist to knuckle it seamed like you pointed on the elbow side of the bone but that you measured and placed your thumb on the other side. can you clarify please
Ryan, I have a friend that's a Doctor that used to arm wrestle with us back in the early 80s and 90s that is 5 foot 9 inches tall, and he had a hand size of 9 and 3/4 inches long. 'That's a big hand for a man that short".

Great vid. Just getting into armwrestling and strength training at 29 lol. Missed out on so much time, but the beauty of the sport is age really doesn't seem to matter. It's good to know my average ish size hands and forearms won't be a disadvantage...or will they? I will be competing at super heavyweight as I am 300lbs...does what you say still apply vs these monsters? Lmao.

Love the channel I have a question for you .being short like 5'5 does that affect you on an arm wrestling table? can you access all of your power being that short on the table .
@stevehalland6572

Trust me, you can access your power if you really are strong regardless of your height. I am a very tall guy with very long and big arms and i have faced many way shorter guys with way shorter hands who have beaten me.
Next year in England when we have our bodypower expo will you be coming over to spread the sport
What would you say is a big or small length from your wrist to your knuckles?
Oleg's forearm. wrestles SHW @ 70KG. Pretty good arguement,
Thanks!
Amazing elbow to wrist identical to yours 11 7/8 inches , my right arms stronger , but on the positive side your slightly better looking :)

I have long forearm and decent size hands but my hands are not thick so I cant grip opponents hand perfectly any advice ?

Todd Hutchings has a smaller hand than you!
There is a perfect anatomy and currently it's called Levan Saginashvili
This man is smart
I have short forearm and small hand, most of the time when I armwrestle I feel my opponent too high on my hand, meaning I barely cling with my fingers and all the power from my opponent is felt there. I loose my wrist and can't put in the strenght as that stresses out my wrist.
Is a hand with an 8.5 inch length and 10 inch circumference considered big within the 195 lbs weight class?
I hav been interested in armwrestling about a year now..im only 17...an becuz of my forearm which is just about 11.5 inch long i was considering it impossible for me I though long forearms were wat u needed...u just gave so much motivation to me, u wont even imagine. I actually stopped training recently as well..but damm i really pumped now. I hav mad respect for u...ur a huge face in the armwrestling communitee for me..thank you my man👍

My question is, how do you determine your hand size and thickness? I've been told for my shape and stature I do have a big hand but I'm not so sure where I fall in the categories.

What is considered a small hand and what’s a large hand measurements wise?
Based on my biomechanics, it's not optimal, but I love the toproll and most forms of outside armwrestling. They come easily to me, and just feel natural. So, even though I'm 5'6'' with a small thick hand, and a 10.25'' wrist to elbow length I am probably not gonna be hooking that much. Wish me luck fellas, Ima need it.

is Todd's forearm really only 10? Mine is 11 and I'm 5'9 with an Ape index of negative 6. I potentially have a shorter upper arm than Toddzilla to account for my t-rex arms but Todd's arms don't look any shorter than mine! I also have tiny hands with short fingers so this is a very useful / informative video as I'm constantly told a small hand is no good ! Thanks.

Is wrist diameter and hand size similar or different things? I've always believed you can't really beef up your wrist size, you can make it stronger, but not bigger. I suffer from little girly man wrists
@obviouslee1949
