Fore Play vs. Torrey Pines South From 7,800 Yards

Спорт

Just a few weeks before the U.S. Open championship, our good friends at the USGA invited us out to take on Torrey Pines. We knew it wasn't going to be pretty so we figure why not make it real ugly and play from as far back as they would let us go.

I mean 45 putts isn't HORRIBLE considering if you're playing par and hitting GIR you have 2 putts per hole which is already 36 putts. Add an extra putt on half the holes and you got 45 putts. It's not horrible and is to be expected for someone playing around 100... That being said I wouldn't say "I'm a good putter" if I was putting 45 per round, but then again I'm not even sure Trent outright said he was a good putter? I heard him say putting is the best part of his game, which isn't a lie and doesn't mean he's actually good, just that it's the thing he's least shitty at, lmao.

Barstool's whole appeal is relatable to the everyman. That was Portnoy's vision when he started it and has stayed true to it. Their golf division isn't a bunch of 3HCPers. They have some decent parts of their game but each one has major weaknesses too. And that is totally relatable. So it works and makes for good content. Plus they bring in A level talent like Kis to show the audience what really good golf looks like.

Not too bad for a 9 but the problem is he never shoots the lower rounds you would expect from a true 9. And I'm not sure you understand how the handicap system works. It takes the lowest 10 differentials of your last 20 rounds, averages them and multiplies that average by .96. So no, shooting one round that's 9 over the rating and two rounds that are 10 over the rating in 20 rounds would NOT make you a 9 handicap.

they're playing tough courses but yeah at this point if you've never broken 100 you're closer to a 35 than 20. I do think Trent would benefit from an approach he took a little today. Instead of playing the hole as it is on the card play it to his handicap so add 1 shot to the par on some holes and on the tougher holes add 2 shots to the par. If you're playing a 530 yard par 5 there's nothing stopping you playing it as a 210 yard shot then a 170 yard shot then a 150 yard shot. Trying to hit 3 woods into these holes is just going to put him in so much trouble.
